UPOL (the maufacturer of the Raptor kit) also recommends priming any bare metal or sand thru areas, then using an adhesion promoter, BEFORE spraying the liner. Also need to apply multiple thin coats, allowing 15-20 minutes flash time between coats. Also, trucks usually don't come with a "factory" spray in liner. They are sourced out by the dealer to places like Line-X, or dealer installed. All in all, good video, and Raptor is a good product. I've done probably 2 dozen or more, with great results.

If I can pay $95K for a new truck I'm sure I can afford to pay a professional to do it right with a lifetime warranty. By the time you add the kit and supplies that were bought it was more like $300 and he recommended using two kits so that would have put the total more like $450-$500. that actually turned out looking good. I used to spray liner for leonards. You should have taken your bed bolts and tail gate screws out first though. The spray on the bolts usually end up peeling off if you use the bed alot. Another trick is to use a razor blade and cut between the bolts and actual bed so if it peels it won't spread to the bed.
It looks awesome. You guys did an excellent job. I'm at a point in life where I'll just pay a shop the extra 300 bucks to do all that prep work, though. Sanding shit for hours and hours sucks ass. Looks good, thanks for the video. One thing I may say is...I've had good luck with adhesion with different coatings & paints using course Scotchbrite pads. All you need to achieve adhesion is to knock off the gloss and create micro-scratches in the surface and they work into the nooks & crannies much better. Wipe down with acetone or surface prep product and off you go. You are then still leaving a coat of paint beneath rather than bare metal, a little extra protection down the like as the liner gets scratched through it's thickness. I am in the planning stage for Raptoring the body of my '02 Dakota Quad Cab. I've have a plastic Pendaliner in my bed for over 18 years. I've been in the trades for years. In my experience, for rough use, such as a landscaper shoveling material from the bed, hauling stone, rocks etc. I've found the plastic one piece slip in bedliners to be much more durable than surface spray or brush on products. The spray on is great for grip, but the slickness of the one piece plastic has the edge in ease of moving material. As for the job you just did, it looks great.

The Line-x coating on my f350 is a good 1/4 to 3/8" thick I actually took a chunk out my 10-year-old liner with the tip of a shovel that's how I know how thick it is, it's definitely worth the money Line-X machines spray it on at 180 degrees or more it is a stronger product more industrial if your hauling gravel and stuff like that. That said you did a great job it looks beautiful and a good coating for the home truck owner. I use this for doing the side of the frame in the wheel wells on the wheel wells themselves I did an old school impala firewall with this stuff, lift kits and suspension parts and if it gets damaged you can easily grab a can and renew and touch up the whole undercarriage every year or two with a can of this stuff, It's awesome.
Ya its the prep work that has kept me from doing mine I remember seeing this kind of stuff like 5 years ago but ya beds have a lot of low spots if it was flat not so bad
I was doing this 30 yrs ago with 2 qts of oil base paint(my choice of color) and some fine sand. Use a cheap "White Wash" brush, mix the sand into the paint and just pour out in the bed of the truck, spreading it front to back with the White Wash brush. Prep?? Go to the car wash and wash the bed, drive home(should be dry by then), rub it down with alcohol. When completely dry(? 20 min?) Go for it. Maybe $40 total in supplies, an hr worth of work. BUT, it will take a day or so to dry completely. (Park under cover or put a tarp over the bed)
YEARS AGO, I had an F250 that I bought a bed liner kit for. I put it on, but, after a short time I saw it was getting scratched. I was bummed. Some years later I bought a new F350. I hated to pay the $500 but I delivered it to a LINE-X shop & they sprayed it in. 11 years I owned that truck. Mostly, it was used to haul our 3500lb 10ft truck camper. We would slide it in & slide it out. Dozens of times. The day I traded it, I happen to notice the bed lining looked just as it had been the day we bought it. Yeah, I hated what it cost me, BUT, in the end I had to admit it was worth every penny. Thats why today, when we pick up our new Ford Maverick we are delivering it directly to the LINE-X dealer. An F250 makes a read STUPID daily driver. It burns WAY too much gas. The oil co are plenty rich enough. What your girl needs is A Maverick or maybe a Santa Cruz. !
What's clickbait about it? (DIY)- He shows how to DO IT YOURSELF instead of having a shop do it. ($100)- kit costs 100 bucks. (Spray in bed liner)- it is spray in liner. (At home)- he did it at his home (Don't pay lineX prices)- he didn't, he paid raptor prices and online shipping. Every part of his title was truthful and so and there's no clickbait. Clickpay is when you misrepresent your title and show something else. If you're referring to the fact that he said DIY and maybe you were looking for bed liner that you can make yourself then clickbait would be if he said (HOMEMADE) as he did not MAKE or CREATE the liner.
Ok, you've made up my mind. I'm doing this to my 2019 Ford Ranger. When I bought it new in April of 2019, I had the dealer throw in one of those $300 plastic bed liners because it didn't come with the "bed package" from the factory, which would've included a spray-in bedliner. And that plastic liner moves around just enough to scratch the hell out of the paint underneath it -- to the point where there are a couple of small spots that are starting to collect surface rust here three years later. So I figure, since I have to sand off the surface rust anyway, I may as well sand down the whole bed and paint it with this stuff. Better than paying the $600 to $700 I've been quoted at other places. I think I can get results like this, as long as I'm careful with the prep-work. Thanks for the vid!
Done! The masking off was the most difficult part. Absolutely *MUST* get that right, or bed-liner goes *everywhere.* So I took my time and masked everything off very carefully. Thing looks like it was professionally done! Really looks great! Thanks again for this video! Edit -- Oh, and if someone else does this, in addition to the N95 mask, get yourself some nitrile gloves. Because this stuff *WILL* get on your hands, and *no* it doesn't wash off. LOL.
I used Raptor lining on my whole truck. An autobody supply store can tint the color to anything you choose. Came out awesome and you can't scratch it period.
Looks good. Did get mine sprayed professionally with a UV liner for $425 with a warranty. Pros will also not spray your nuts, hooks, and bed lights. Not a bad job though.
I used to work for a company spraying bed liners, when you sanded through the primer into the metal, you should have primed before spraying . . . the best to use is an epoxy primer
Ordering this kit to spray my entire mustang destroyer gray with the raptor liner will give it a bit of texture the rest of my car will be gloss black super durable stuff easy to work with and covers up mistakes if you do get a run you would even have a hard time finding it yourself just make sure you use all 4 bottles for a even coat all around depending on the size of your vehicle you may need 6-7 bottles but 4 is good for sports cars
@@SuperDave44Mag Every generation will come out with new smarter ways to do things that require less effort therefore each generation will 1 up the laziness from the previous one. I don't really think it's fair to label a whole generation when there's a lot of really hard working go-getters who have been instilled proper values by their parents. It really comes down to how a kid was raised and who the person was around and influenced by growing up.
@@matthewr2361 your assessment of "really hard working go-getters" is at a minimum these days thanks to technology and networking availability. Kids today can't function unless it's on a screen. Friend of mine just raptor lined his entire XJ with the tintable version in a creme color
YEARS AGO,
I had an F250 that I bought a bed liner kit for. I put it on, but, after a short time I saw it was getting scratched.
I was bummed. Some years later I bought a new F350. I hated to pay the $500 but I delivered it to
a LINE-X shop & they sprayed it in. 11 years I owned that truck. Mostly, it was used to haul our 3500lb 10ft
truck camper. We would slide it in & slide it out. Dozens of times. The day I traded it, I happen to notice the
bed lining looked just as it had been the day we bought it. Yeah, I hated what it cost me, BUT, in the end I had
to admit it was worth every penny. Thats why today, when we pick up our new Ford Maverick we are
delivering it directly to the LINE-X dealer.
An F250 makes a read STUPID daily driver. It burns WAY too much gas. The oil co are plenty rich enough.
What your girl needs is A Maverick or maybe a Santa Cruz.
!
Hi, this looks great, what size air compressor did you use? Can it be done with a regular 6 gallon pancake compressor?
Clickbait at it’s finest. And I’m definitely ok with it 🤣
What's clickbait about it?
(DIY)- He shows how to DO IT YOURSELF instead of having a shop do it.
($100)- kit costs 100 bucks.
(Spray in bed liner)- it is spray in liner.
(At home)- he did it at his home
(Don't pay lineX prices)- he didn't, he paid raptor prices and online shipping.
Dat asss is like the 2nd coming
Joseph Reese It’s a joke maybe
Haha, right! Can't even be mad at the blatant use of click bait. Looks like it's working lol!
LOL.
When is her truck going to get lifted a put bigger wheels and tires on it. Great video
She is one extraordinarily blessed young lady...... Wow.
I used Raptor lining on my whole truck. An autobody supply store can tint the color to anything you choose. Came out awesome and you can't scratch it period.
Yep you gotta whack it with epoxy before spraying the liner imho.
😂😂😂 love how Ryan drops her tailgate twice. RIP FORD TAILGATE...Easy Ryan you’ll break it.
I honestly forgot it wasn’t gonna go down slowly both times 😂😂😂😂
Damn great job guys. And your girlfriend is the 💣💣💯💯👌🏾👌🏾 I love a woman that helps her man in the garage or yard on trucks ❤❤👌🏾
Looks good. Did get mine sprayed professionally with a UV liner for $425 with a warranty. Pros will also not spray your nuts, hooks, and bed lights. Not a bad job though.
Illusion purple bed liner? 🤔 Btw I was actually looking forward to purchase a bed liner kit and this just might be it. Thanks for the amazing content!
my favorite part is that she tried to attach the new sand pad to the old sand pad. The guy that made this video is a legend.
I did that for years. On many trucks. Used Gator Guard then Monsta Liner. They held up well for a working pickup. You can touch them up as well.
10:55 me when I saw the blonde in leggings
aj jaquez laughed my ass off lmao
SIMP
The thickness.
Lol
🤣🤣🤣
She needs to come into the aftermarket world!
I used to work for a company spraying bed liners, when you sanded through the primer into the metal, you should have primed before spraying . . . the best to use is an epoxy primer
I cringe every time someone just drops a tailgate
@@Stackali they all tend to be high priced junk if you know you know, someone drops my tailgate that way expect a slap in the back of the head.
in my next lifetime ill be reborn as tailgate cables or his chics pantys
@@chinomendoza211 no doubt.
Same here. I baby my vehicles
I have soft close on my tailgate:)
Just the video I was lookin for! Thanks 🙏 oh and your sister looks 👍 great 👀👀😜
Ordering this kit to spray my entire mustang destroyer gray with the raptor liner will give it a bit of texture the rest of my car will be gloss black super durable stuff easy to work with and covers up mistakes if you do get a run you would even have a hard time finding it yourself just make sure you use all 4 bottles for a even coat all around depending on the size of your vehicle you may need 6-7 bottles but 4 is good for sports cars
Hook her truck up with the tailgate assist
Don't be lazy!
Dave Phillips it’s called work smarter not harder
@@quancast1141 in some cases yes, but in today's society it just makes people lazy. Laziest generation ever.
There will always be a certain amount of "proper values instilled" kids, but it will never equal the amount of the "good ol' days". Kids back then had more respect for their elders, and appreciated what hard work accomplished. You can patronize this generation of kids all you want, but we both know it's no where near where it used to be.
Admit it, most of you guys wouldn't have clicked on this if there wasn't leggings in the thumbnail 🤣
I thinking about doing this to my 99 Silverado, but did not want it to look cheap. Now I am convince l can do a professional looking job. Thank.
98% of the people who clicked this video was only here for the cheeks
May be 99%.
99.99%
And were somewhat disappointed by the lack of screen time of them cheeks
I love them cheeks
I guess I’m that 02%
I'd love to do this to my bed. What size air compressor did you use with this?
I have the same question. I highly doubt my little hot dog 8 gallon is big enough 😄
So quick tip my uncle use to do this professionally and best way to sand bed is to use wire wheels on drill! Also the difference between this and the pro stuff is the pro stuff gose on hot around 300 and something degrees like asfault!
3:40 🔥
I was laughing because at first when sanding gf had no mask on and u did I was like wtf lol. But I see later when spraying she had mask. And too add onto the on slaught of compliments u will get. Good for u she is AAAA++++ very cute Lock that down lol
I thought it was cool to see her willing to help him a girl lile that is pretty cool normally a loyal one too if she enjoys working on trucks with you or just doing it to be around you... So i could say good girl and lucky dude.. I work on cars for a living i do paint & auto body my daughter's mother i couldn't get her in the shop at all but my 1st n second girlfriend growing up both shared a love for cars with me boy i miss that being you're girlfriend n best friend is a bonus for sure
Thank you for the detailed step-by-step process. Can this be applied to a bedliner that I had sprayed on by a shop 14 years ago when I bought my new 2007 Tundra? I understand I need to remove the small amounts of rust, prime any exposed metal, and scuff it all up as if it was a new truck. Thanks again.
You can’t have ur girl fish bowlin! Hook her up with some tint Ryno! Always a pleasure young brother.
When your girl uses her truck more then you do. I think it’s time to move on hunny 😂😂
Why would that be a reason?
I was thinking the same thing, that F150 has towed way more than the Cummins
Trevor Vanalstine the Cummins is pretty much a show truck so
hanratty450 she should dump him
hanratty450 Than*, not then.
I love this stuff. Sprayed my Jeep bumpers and gas tank skid plate. And recently sprayed my Tacoma's hard plastic OEM tonneau cover that was faded. The stuff does not fade, looks great and it is easy to do. I might even do the Tacoma bed even tho it's a composite and not metal. Nice video.
Good job letting your girl use a wire wheel without eye protection!!
Her perfect vision would only be a deterrent to his longtime happiness
What about the mask???
My first time using one... got me a visit to hospital for a wire in one vein 😒
( what a luck )
More leggings please
He wants her blind so he can keep her!!
