    We just got a Highlander Hybrid XLE 2022 at msrp and we love it. I was aware about the Sienna but the looks didn't really appeal to us but still, you made very good points. Keep it up!

    • @drivetorun4172
      @drivetorun4172  2 года назад +3

      Thank you, and great job getting that at MSRP! I totally understand the Sienna's looks not being appealing, but I do think it looks better in certain trims/colors than others. With the average transaction prices going up, I think it's important to call out places where people can potentially save some money without losing (and in some cases, gaining) functionality.

    Went from an amazing older Odyssey minivan to the white Hybrid XLE. The best feature no one talks about is the step rail add on and roof rack for 5-10 year olds. It makes the car. Additional space for road trips and XLE has all the features you need.

    I just learned that the 2nd row seat of Sienna can't be removed due to the safety airbag. Is it true? What about the hybrid Highlander? I might use it not that often for a camper van. In addition, if someone wants to use the Comma 3, only the highlander will get the Gold support, while Sienna has the Bronze support. For a long road trip, I consider Highlander to be a better pick.

    I went w/ the Platinum Gas, the Hybrid efficiency is impressive but I really wanted to experience 3.5 V6 that's been powering even their Lexus' and the mechanical torque vectoring AWD is also more capable. Rationale was to get reliability and luxury without having to pay for premium gas, premium insurance, and a versatile "truck" that's for family use and its rigors. A luxury badged SUV doesn't make sense for my uses. For the cost over Limited, I got HUD, glazed caramel, pano roof, 12.3 screen w/360 view, RVM screen, adaptive lights, ambient laminated glass, creature comforts .. It was a no brainer as these were important. However, I 100% agree that the 2nd row bench should be an option, was told that it's partly to cut costs -requiring them to be heated being a Platinum level. Folding mirrors and not adding just 1-2 more inches room on 3rd row were oversights. Asia/Europe Highlanders have folding mirrors.

    • @drivetorun4172

      Totally makes sense! When you compare things to the luxury manufacturers (even Lexus), then it can definitely be a very good value. Congrats!

    • @drivetorun4172
      @drivetorun4172  2 года назад +1

      The best thing to do is look at various Toyota forums (not even necessarily specific to the model you're looking at) to see which dealerships those members have been purchasing from. Threads like this can be a good place to start: www.4runners.com/threads/msrp-dealerships-list-them.20301/

    Amazing video. Just what I’m looking for, thank you so much. You suggested against hybrid version. I’m curious to know if we get tax benefits if we choose hybrid over only gas in Texas? I drive over 90 miles everyday to work back and forth so do you suggest me on getting hybrid or only gas. Thanks in advance.

    Xle and limited is probably the best. I think hybrid is worth it if your not planning to do a lot of heavy duty. If people want a mini van they would pick it. Right now for a 4wd most people are considering Subaru Accent or Toyota Highlander.

    I bought the Platinum for a couple of reasons you did not mention. If you are taller the second row seat on the standard moon roof puts the vents right in your face. Not very comfortable. The panoramic moon roof has the vents on the sides and does not have a bump down in the roof.
    I also love the heads up display. Well worth it for those reasons alone.

    • @drivetorun4172
      @drivetorun4172  2 года назад

      Interesting points on the vents--great callout! HUDs are really cool, but they haven't quite offered enough functionality to where I think they're that big of a game-changer, but if you like them--that's awesome!

      Are you at US?.... did your platinum already experienced mild or heavy snow?.... and how it responded?..... Im considering highlander platinum gas over 4runner due to gas mpg

  • @lc7192

    I think the hybrid models are better than the straight gasoline V6 models. First of course is the price of fuel nowadays. The V6 is under more stress than the 4 cylinder because of the electric motors and that leads to better reliability in the hybrid . Also the hybrid leaves less of a carbon footprint. Next is the E-CVT transmission. It is so smooth and is not continuously hunting for the right gear like the 8speed transmission in the V6. That is so irritating. Also irritating is the run/stop feature that is on the gasoline models. No need for that in the hybrids because they already save gas. I wouldn’t get the Sienna van because it’s too big and doesn’t handle as well as the Highlander, especially at freeway speeds and worse with a side wind. Also I like to explore roads and traverse rough roads to get to various trailheads. The Sienna doesn’t have the ground clearance, suspension or ingress/egress values to manage rugged terrain.

    • @mikeblack6953
      @mikeblack6953 Год назад

      These are all great points, I'm leaning toward a Highlander. The v6 is a great engine, taken care of should last a decade or more. Was thinking, the V6 will retain better value and much easier to sell someday, who would want to take a chance on a turbo-hybrid with 150K miles, while the V6 has another 150K left (or more), no turbo or battery to replace. Also, when the battery does need to be replaced, it most likely won’t be available, tech will have moved forward. Good point on the start/stop feature on the v6, I don't know if it could be disabled. The mpg from the hybrid is very impressive, although you get torque vectoring. I've seen the hybrid AWD in rough terrain, not impressive, but of course, would be the case for all the hybrids as the rear drive is separate from the front gas motor drive. Another thing, the $7500 tax credit for 2022 & 2023 only for Toyota's sold before 9/30/22, acording to what I've read.

    What is "Adaptive Headlights" on the Platinum trim? Are these cornering headlights (I don't want another car without them), or are they auto-leveling, or what else? Why can't marketing just call it what it is...

      Delayed response on my part (but thanks to those who already replied). From the manual: "automatically adjusting the direction of the light axis of the headlights according to vehicle speed and the degree of the tire's angle as controlled by steering input...operates at speeds of 6mph or higher"

    The LE is the best value to me. For $2,200 more, you get blind spot monitoring and remote start. I rather not have the power tailgate as it is slow.

    If it is SUV, do not be cheap out yourself, get the AWD version..!! My next SUV should always be AWD doesn't matter someone says you live in Southern California why buying AWD! :) I would not mind with AWD :) my SUV will be more responsive!!
