I have a 2015 highlander with 85,000 miles in NYC. Volume and tuning knobs broke when wiping them during my first month of ownership. Last year the plastic around the car seat cracked and the edges of the front seats along the side of the door flattened out (lost their cushiness). Bracket fell off exhaust and it rattles. A few weeks ago the passengers side window would go up slightly when I tried to close it, and then back down. I had to do it at least 10 times to get it to go up. It has been okay since then. No rebooting or blacking out of display console and no other problems. Car drives like it did when I first got it. Reliable, fast with 6 cyl engine, and comfortable. Would buy again. I had a Honda CRV prior to this for 9 years. Nothing ever broke or went bad but I like my highlander a lot more anyway for comfort and performance and reliability.

The seats could be a little more comfortable, and access to the 3rd row is still far more difficult than that of my 2015 Honda Pilot. The 2015 Pilot is also a great car. It is much roomier and quiet than my Highlander, and it gets around in the snow better than any car I've ever driven. All told, the Pilot is a more comfortable vehicle, but the Highlander feels more agile and gets almost twice as many MPG. I also handed down my 2010 Highlander Hybrid to my daughter. The 2010 still looks new and drives great at around 150K miles. Bottom line, we've owned multiple model years of both vehicles, and they were all great cars.

I've put roughly 4k into it over 3 years replacing front struts, tire rods, all the stabilizer links, pressure line from power steering and all the brakes, new battery , AND just this week I had the power steering pump replaced when it started making a weird noise heading to Walmart -I parked it and my bf came to check it, the nut holding the power steering pulley on had come off and the pulley was shredding the shaft for the power steering and only held in place by the tension from the pulley. I had it towed back and the mechanic was absolutely amazed that I caught the problem before it was worse. Still expensive, but they just replaced the pump and drive belt and no other damage was found 😅 I still love my pilot.

Ha; Too late! I already bought a Highlander ( Scotty recommended)
After searching I decided to buy in this class and these two were my choices. I did get a little nervous when you started to talk about which ones had problems. But luckily for me, I chose a 2013 Highlander and you didn’t mention anything about that one in particular.
It runs like a champ, and it’s like a thoroughbred on the highway; it just wants to run in front; fast.
I really have to watch burying my foot in the pedal because it can handle it and it doesn’t even seem like I’m doing 80+miles an hour.
It could do 80 and more with ease but it’s sure to get better gas mileage at about 75. I find that I get about 27 miles per gallon on a fairly flat highway and when I’m driving around town doing food delivery I get anywhere from 22 when I’m doing long runs, to about 18 when I’m having to sit in line waiting to get orders. A very suitable vehicle for everything I needed and the kids love it too.

I have a 2009 V6 highlander limited with 214,000 miles on it and it still runs like new. I love my highlander. Best vehicle I ever bought. Rides like a dream and super comfortable on long road trips.

Highlander is way quieter than the pilot. Rides better and handles bumps in the road better, like a high end luxury car. You feel safer driving a highlander. Recently test drove both and bought the highlander immediately.

Bought my highlander in 2008 when my son was born. My son is now a freshman in h.s. and in 2 months my highlander with 172k will be 16 yrs old. Besides oil, brakes and tires only replaced a water pump. Still runs like a top

I still got my 2011 pilot with 117k miles on it. I’ve kept up the maintenance, and the only major issue was the alternator going out.

... and gas mileage I bet. I have it on good authority that end of 2023 or 2024 the Pilot will be available in hybrid!

@@thosetwodudes I’ve driven less than 20k miles in the last 3 years. I don’t need to go far

I have a 2005 Honda Pilot with 184k miles. No issues, just routine maintenance until a few months ago when the starter died. The engine runs beautiful but I do worry about when I’ll lose the transmission. I hear the radiator is also a threat to the transmission for this year. No sense in taking on a payment until I have to though so I’ll keep this one rolling as long as I can!

I have a 2005 with 140K. No issues to date. I am the second owner since 44K miles. It has been a great vehicle for my family with the three rows, the vehicle handles amazingly on snow in upstate NY. The power from the V6 is great. I have no comlaints at this time and hope to get many more years of use out of her.

I have a 2011 Highlander. Mechanically its a good vehicle although driver side seat are not comfortable, especially for the lumbar support.

Bought a 2014 new and drove it until 2021, was going to keep it until it died. Last week the transmission went out at 97k miles. I’m a Toyota loyalist but not really believing these will last 15 years Scotty.

I had a 2004 Pilot. It was a good car, but the rear subframe rusted out and I had to get rid of it. Doing some research online, it is a fairly common problem with the first generation Pilots. It’s a poor design. It had 262000 miles on it and still ran like a champ.

I love the Highlander and Pilot. In 2019 i set out to buy a new mid size suv. After driving the 2019 Highlander XLE from Orlando to Washington DC, I knew it wasn’t for me and my family. Nothing against it…..just wasn’t big enough or functional enough compared to the Gen 3 2019 Honda Pilot. Pricing being compared, I bought a 2019 AWD Honda Pilot Touring. I honestly love the Pilot. I pulled a 4200 lbs Geo Pro 20BHS from Vancouver, BC to Orlando, FL. The 3.5 Earth Dream Vtec with the newly programmed 9 speed is quick, powerful and sporty enough to most jobs done. It’s large enough to haul a family of 4, a 70 lbs malamute, and 15 lbs Shih Tzu across country with their cargo. It just is more capable.
My only warning is that I think Toyota in general still makes a more reliable product. My Pilot, while capable and extremely accessible and well designed interior is awesome…..it has an Achilles heal. The infotainment system has plagued the Pilot since 2018. If you buy a Pilot, beware the California Lawsuit against Honda for this issue. Mine was unfortunately one of the impacted vehicles. It took Honda until this April to figure out the solution. It still isn’t 100% corrected and worry free but at least works 90% of the time. In general I feel like my Pilot will last 200k if I take care of it. I still feel like Toyota makes a 300k mile lifetime Highlander.

"If you haven't seen my video on why Toyota's are so reliable" Um, isn't that every video Scotty.
