      Not my style but I'll challenge you to get a chord book, type in the chords for the song, play with a few styles and come up with your own version. The only Christmas song I do is "The Christmas Song" which I may redo to sing and mix it better. ruclips.net/video/EseDUUjE-mI/видео.html

    Thank you so much, Henry. You explained the Audio Chord Wizard so beautifully! This opens up a lot of doors for me. Now I can go back and learn songs from my childhood, and see cool harmonic substitutions that my heroes used in their writing.
    Since Audio Chord Wizard is figuring out the WHAT, I can focus my brainpower on the WHY; why does a particular chord work so well in a particular spot. It's similar in a lot of ways to my approach to data analysis. The trick is to let the computer do the number crunching so that I can interpret what the results mean and what our next steps are.

    Really appreciate you making content for this software - particularly since you're someone who uses it personally and practically as a long time user. I've always been fascinated by this software and found it kind of bizarre that there wasn't way more content and discussion out there on it. It has so much potential but maybe it just isn't being marketed in a way that helps people to understand its power. Content like this certainly helps! Thanks Henry.

      Thank You. I agree the software is quite powerful and even my videos just scratch the surface. I started making them because their tutorials did not cater to the type of music that I wanted to create and it appears that a lot of others agree :-) I produced a "testimonial" that's hosted on their website and RUclips channel. and I actually said that in the video. Surprised they didn't edit that part out. LOL

    This feature is also great for "Ear Candy"
    Like if You have a finished composition but want a couple little feels here or there... OR... if you want to add like a 12 string strum as background to fill in sparse sections. You don't HAVE to use all Your tracks if You don't want to. Just go to top of screen and pull (drag & drop) the specific instruments You want to the upper left corner where the little box is that says wav, midi wpa etc. And put in the "wav".
    Once it's rendered, just drag it to a track in Your DAW, and adjust as needed.

    I just found your channel Henry and it's great. With regards to dropping in the bar markers, BnB should allow you to just "tap" them in real time as your listening to the song. Maybe they've already changed the software to do that. But if they haven't, you should mention it to them.

      I use a metronome when I want to map a real style to the track the wizard gave me the chords to. It makes it easier to get the timing correct. I've heard that some versions to not have a metronome. If that's the case maybe you can just use a snare drum loop.

    First off, Nice Job! I enjoyed the technical and practical aspects of your video! Question, Can Band In a Box look at and alter the midi notes used in the keyboard sounds? It would be cool to re-voice some of the chords for an even more smooth feel to it. Glad I found your channel. All Band-in-a-Box packages use the same program so the Audio Chord Wizard is available in all packages. The difference in packages is the amount of content they offer.

    • @henryclarke5407
      @henryclarke5407  3 года назад

      Hi Herbie, Thanks for the comments about my teaching. It really makes what I do worthwhile. As far as Real Band is concerned a lot of people ask me that question. My basic answer is NO I do not use RealBand for anything. First I'm comfortable with other commercial DAWs and in my opinion they provide much more flexibility than what realband offers. I would say that for more basic songs realband is probably ok but for the type of music I do use a lot of bussing, a lot of plugins, and extensive wav manipulation I find it much easier using a more commercial DAW. Also not all of my songs are Band in a Box. A lot of my songs Acid waves. When I tried to add my own commercial waves to BIAB I had a lot of problems. So my preference is not to use Realband. Hope this helps.

    Great presentation Henry. I've been curious about Band in the box and after watching you I intend getting it to assist with me with my pedal steel guitar. Question is, what version of Band in the box do I need to do what you are doing?

    • @henryclarke5407
      @henryclarke5407  3 года назад +1

      Hi Cliff. What I'm doing is probably available in all the versions of BIAB since Audio Chord Wizard is part of the basic program. However, I use the Ultra Pak +. I like running the program directly from an external drive (but that's me). Not knowing your budget I would get at least a MegaPak so I have more sounds at my disposal. Since you mentioned you want to play around with accompaniment for a steel guitar I think the Mega Pak will give you nice sounds for this purpose.

It's just a matter of going through the different styles to see what works best for the song you want to do. Check out the styles on their website. I don't work for them. @henryclarke5407  3 года назад +1

      I have no idea what you're talking about. The bars are set at the first beats of the measure and are displayed in the windows. Unfortunately I may be covering a bit of it up but if you look where I put the second bar it's obvious that I had to put the 1st bar at the start of the song. Also It's important to understand that old songs do not keep exact time.

    • @LosoIAm
      @LosoIAm 3 года назад

      @@henryclarke5407 I was talking about locating where each measure starts (I think bars 4 and 5) - using the peaks of the audio file. It is not a busy track and one can clearly see the peaks (aka transients).
      Great video, otherwise.

    • @henryclarke5407
      @henryclarke5407  3 года назад

      @@LosoIAm Peaks in an audio file can be extremely misleading. You must listen to the whole song. For example a snare drum or a handclap can create a peak in an audio file. You have to compensate for that. Remember the wizard listens to the file as a "whole" and not individual parts.

    • @LosoIAm
      @LosoIAm 3 года назад

      @@henryclarke5407 Most DAW's will have a similar feature (beat finder/mapper, etc.). Of course, one would need to listen to the audio but, when determining the tempo of any song, I would count (like you) and then start honing in on the beginning of several bars (just like you did). This saves me heaps of time!
      Perhaps I didn't explain it well (English being my 2nd language) but I am reasonably well versed in working with extremely poorly-recorded audio files (having to transcribe hundreds of songs from old cassette tapes).

      I’ve gone through an imported song and meticulously hit EVERY single L for say 3 1/2 minutes. Learned too late it didn’t matter because BiaB is smart enough to realize that a new chord goes in a new bar in the chord sheet. As long as it’s fairly close... Ymmv but my experience was as Henry demonstrates - this is a tool to get a foothold.
      And my favorite find in this workflow was you can play any chord (a better one than the software guesses) on your MIDI controller then hit Ctrl-Enter and the chord in that bar will change to what you played. Shift-Enter plays the chord in that bar. Game-changer for me.
      Henry I love your videos your recordings your presentation and your generosity. You are the find of the year for me so far!

    ok for the real musicians. the "auto mark" is just taking the 4 he made, then making an average and setting a BPM, then spreading that across the whole track. an old song like this will of course not stay in time, so you gotta move each of those to where youre seeing the obvious drum hitting at the start of the measure. and when its all said and done, dont plan on this thing being anywhere close to accurate. Its easier to know how to play a piano, and just play the keyboard and enter the chords that way.
