Hi Nick, I am glad you are Auburn are doing okay. Laurel and I are in Porto until March 5 and will be spending the rest of 2023 in SE Asia. We stumbled on 1 year tickets anywhere on Air Asia that they fly but you have to transit through BKK or DMK for most flights. We have talked to you for so long we would really like to meet you guys while we are in Asia. We are both over 70 now so not sure how much longer we can stay out here.
Hello from CA & many thanks 4 the run-down on Phuket condo prices! I did what your doing in my 20s up to my 50s and will try again after i get off the treadmill in schools. I showed up in Japan without a sponsor or TEFL in my 40s and was offered several jobs and took a job for a year teaching public speaking(no experience). Yes, they told me about wanting someone younger but when i told them about living in Bali, i got a job. You have to sell yourself and attempt to speak the language(i knew 50 words) I didn't like staying home so i went out everynight and was approached to teach English privately to housewives, students & execs. I picked Japan for food, safety & money and wish i had stayed longer because everything you say about the US is true plus you need $ to live well especially with children. I urge everyone to try it when you are younger as you might not have the energy to navigate travel/work in foreign countries. Not talking about corporate types. Public transportation in Japan is a dream! Beach life in Bali & Thailand is a haven 4 beach bums trapped in city bodies! Kuala Lumpur is an easier city for women in Asia. Thanks 4 the adventure
Thanks for sharing! You talked about the yearly price... Did you have a 1-year visa or a residency there? If you happen to make a video on Thailand visa and residency program, I'll be interested.
My daughter was going to school there. Children can get an ED visa for a year and that allows for 1 guardian visa as well. You could easily get an ED visa as well if you take classes. Anything from Muay Thai, to Thai language, to I think there are even programs for military self defense (in Chiang Mai) and maybe even cooking class visas. But look into the ED visa, very easy to get.
Hi, Nick....eat some good Thai food for me. I just vacationed in Cancun for a week. Made almost $200 on my side business plus will enjoy the tax benefits of this trip. Keep inspiring! Take care of that sweet baby, too.
Hey Emma, I will definitely eat all the thai food 😁 The trip to cancun sounds very nice, I'm glad its paying off for you...what is your side hustle down there, if you don't mind me asking? And my little girl is a bit sick right now, but all is well 😊🙏
Do you have a guide on how to mail the passport and how to send the money online. I live in nyc and mailing things is not good for me. Do I need to put anything else in the mail besides the application, and the passport.
Facebook marketplace is a good place to find rentals. Also join local real estate groups on FB for the same reason. Also can look around in person and find lots of ‘for rent’ signs, just give them a call.
@NickDemski do I need a specific visa? Last time I was only given 30 days so I'm wondering if I need an education visa or some sort to stay for 1 year. Thanks
Hi Nick, I love your channel! Extremely informative! As a single parent myself, I am looking abroad mostly in China and South Korea for TEFL jobs with 6 months experience (I have a BA in Communication, TEFL certificate, but no teaching license); however, I have encountered some difficulty finding employers willing to sponsor me and my son. Do you have any advice for how to still go abroad and teach? Should I be looking at different countries? (I know a little Spanish and I can speak some Mandarin) Thank you so much for your help!
Hey! Good for you on your efforts! 💪 for South Korea, look into AdventureTeaching, I had an offer on Jeju Island from them at one time. I also had a friend who worked through them as well and he ended up doing 2 years, finding a Korean wife, and having a good time in Seoul. You’ll make the most money in places like the Middle East, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong. When I got my first teaching job in Hong Kong, I just showed up with a bunch of resumes and got like 20 interviews and multiple on-the-spot offers. There is a large need for English teachers in many places so arriving and doing the ground work is always a good way to go. While you could find jobs online through Search Associates or TIEonline, both good options, there are lots of schools that look for teachers in the area they operate. I’ve actually gone to look for schools for my daughter in other countries and had the principals ask me if I want a job at the school.
Nice video.. just curious, what would happen if you were 3 months in on a 12 month lease and had to break it for some reason? Pay the discount back, I guess? Or worse?
Good question. And it really depends on the landlord. You often have to pay a deposit upfront and you would lose that deposit. It's typically equal to one month's rent. But, every landlord is different so some charge more (maybe equal to 2 months rent for deposit) and others charge nothing as deposit. For me, the place I'm staying at now (a simple bungalow for about $300/month, and it's not the place in this video) just lets me renew a monthly contract every month without a deposit, as long as I give them a week or two notice, and I can just keep it going on a rolling basis. It's pretty common for bungalows and simpler accommodations to offer that kind of situation.
Oh ok. Losing a deposit seems fair. Just wouldn’t want them freaking out and wanting the whole year’s rent. You have a good situation going. Hope to live the dream in Thailand soon. Think I’d like Chiang Mai with an escape to Phuket for better air during burning season.. but who knows. Maybe I’d like Phuket better. Thanks for the info.
I'm thinking a year. But we're looking for a place that has a good location for me as well as a good school and dance school for my daughter. So, once we find that place, I can make a better informed guess of how long we'll stay. If we can't find it? Hit the road again and keep searching
I dream of Thailand. It’s close to my main ops in PH 🇵🇭. There’s a whole world out there I never knew existed. Come back to the insane circus dystopia from hell someday soon I’ll be gone for good. The USA is GREAT for making money but everything else is nosediving like a missile.

How much do you spend on food/groceries each week/month? I’m looking at condos in karon
For me and my daughter, about $300-450/month, and we eat out for every meal.
Thanks for the quick reply! @@NickDemski

Cam you explain how can somebody rent for longer than a month? I am interested in staying for 1 year but don't know where to start. Thanks

How bad are the mosquitoes in Thailand? I really want to visit, but mosquitos love me and i don't want to catch any viruses. 😩😩
Hardly any in the cities, lots in the jungles
@@NickDemski thanks. The cities probably aren't pretty tho. 😩
I will have to do research to see if they are on the beaches. 🙂
anything new? I have watched a couple of videos about retiring overseas or in South America. Interested. but... no new videos.
How much if you want to buy themis unit ?
About 2,000,000 Baht for the one I stayed in
nice Price
@@NickDemski That sounds like a pretty good deal, but is it for the neighborhood? Foreigners are only allowed to buy condos in Thailand, right?

I missed the name of the place. Could you let me know?
This is Nai Harn Condominium
Seems a good place for kids too
Yes indeed, I saw a handful of other families there. The Thai culture is very welcoming of kids 😎
@@NickDemski we r thinking of Portugal remote working visa , seems to be nice
why haven't you mentioned the name of the place anywhere?
Oh I don’t think it matters too much. There are lots of condos like this in Phuket, so this is just an example.
What town is this please
This is in Nai Harn, Phuket
Why don’t you make new videos ?
I am :) just been pondering life. But a new video coming out this weekend

Pretty loaded question. I feel safe in Thailand, always have.
Welcome to Asia , don't forget to travel to China , China has big cities like Hong Kong Shanghai and Shenzhen , my country is China , welcome to China
I’ve spent many years in Hong Kong. I love it 😊
