- A subsidiary of the toy mongrel Hasbro, Tiger Electronics, for many years, managed to satisfy the rapidly expanding video game demands by producing and releasing a whole infestation of very low-quality handheld LCD "games" that somehow gave off the impression that you were holding an actual NES right in the palm of your hands. But the truth is, IT WORKED! Since another main facet to market economy is that the products that people buy the most are the ones that get produced the most, Tiger proceeded to milk their new money grab for all that it was worth, and even tried their hand at releasing whole video game consoles for the sake of it. The Nerd casts his eye on a selection of hardware by Tiger Electronics, including a selection of LCD handheld games and wristwatch-styled games, plus two portable consoles - the Game.com and the R-Zone. You have to admit, the artistry of the Tiger Electronic game is kind of impressive. I mean, these guys had to design an entire game with multiple frames of animation where every single sprite slots together on one screen. The ways they saved space and made the artwork as simplistic as possible is really interesting.
I did like looking at those screens with all the sprites at once :)

I think AVGN was just being a bit over-sensationalist here. I recently picked one up and there are a few of these that were made that had rather addicting gameplay
I mean, Nintendo did the same thing with their G&W Series, but I will agree with AVGN's point where Tiger went for a Quantity Route.
Regardless, I admire Tiger's Attempt on all of their LCD Games.

I remember I had a ton of these things,not because I bought them intentionally,but because McDonald's gave them out as toys in happy meals.
The best thing about the most recent episodes of the show is that I now appreciate episodes from this era all the more. It was a bit past its prime here, but the passion and charm was still there.
I know! I’m only a teenager so I didn’t grow up with the beginning of Angry Video Game Nerd episodes, but going back and comparing the episodes from then to now, I’ve realized the old ones are a lot better!

Everyone I knew who got a Tiger game had received it as a gift from their much older relatives like grandparents or greataunt/uncle. I got TMNT in the early 90’s and I’m unsure if I was close to beating the game or never scored a point.

It really does feel like yesterday when I woke up at my friend's house from a sleepover, beautiful summer day, great breakfast, looking on the internet and seeing the AVGN posted a new episode.
9 years can come by and leave just as fast.
I reckon this is still one of the best AVGN videos, even compared to the newer collection. Up there with Ghostbusters (NES) and the console reviews, like the Sega 32X and Atari 5200.

I kinda remember a similar thing, had and still have a Buzz Lightyear game, and in a way, it was kinda the whole static light-up images, only difference was this one was in color. And, while it can get difficult at times, I remember it actually being a great game. A GREAT GAME! I don't know if this was in fact by Tiger or not, but it was awesome. At times, I never could put it down!
Edit: Looked it up, wasn't Tiger, was made 2010, and it was officially licensed.
I still have the original TIGER Pokedex from 1998, with all the original 151 and their stats.

Weird fact, I had a dream on the night of November 18, 2019, where there were Tiger handhelds, but those pooled a but better. They could (sort of) make 3D technology. Even the backgrounds changed.
One of them was Mario speedrunning through a public bathroom with an entrance, and exit. Sort of like a stupid version of Mario Kart.

There's a cancelled furby one that was meant to be a platform game. Nothing ever surfaced of the game itself just a photo of the device. It was cancelled for some reason.
Funny story, my brother once asked for MegaMan 2 on Nes. My parents didn't really know what they were doing, so they bought the tiger game instead of the nes cartridge. They thought that it was the same thing. He still says that that was the most ruined Birthday ever.

Just... do that on a tiger screen (you can easily fit a bunch of moving arrows on the screen and dancing characters on the side.

Recently, I went to a Gamestop and saw some tiger electronic games on sale, It was surprising since old small consoles like the gameboy don't get rereleased to often, I don't like them, but people could now go to their local Gamestop and pick one up for nostalgia or wanna buy one since they never got one.
