So everyone, just an afterthought, or something I just learned as well since we just started making these 2 weeks ago, mod podge the cup after and will seal and keep laminate from peeling and protect the image.
I do not or have not used mod podge to seal my cups. As I stated above I have hand washed them a bunch with no problems. I advise customers to hand wash, no dishwasher, and don’t leave sitting in a sink full of water. If they follow that the cup should last a long time. I have seen others say they mod podge to prevent laminate from peeling. And that after mod podge cures for 28 days it is safe. I do not know about that, I will look at the mod podge my wife has for her projects myself when I her home to see if food grade safe or not, but I was just passing info. I had seen from others if anyone was having peeling issues. But thank you for sharing that, I will def be looking into that and if not food safe I will remove the information!
Their is modge podge that is food safe and also polycrylic. I saw these items being mentioned and used on another channel, makers gonna make. The cure time is 28 days I believe. I hope this helps a bit.
Just FYI, if you want to take the original image off first just warm the cup up by putting hot water inside then run with rubbing alcohol then wash with dawn 🙂
Awesome. I just made some but am having trouble with the laminate sticking to my vinyl. Amy suggestions on to resolve this. When I start wrapping the cup the laminate starts detaching from the vinyl.
Thank you so much for watching! The first thing I would say is make sure you are using 3 mil laminate or thinner, I have tried with 5 mil and had same issue constantly. Other than that I would make sure you are using enough pressure and heat, there have been a lot of questions on this and those are usually the main issues.
Just found your channel. Excellent video!! Explained very well!! Hope you continue making videos on sublimation. I'm a newby at it too. But I'm loving it. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing more.

I don’t think this would work with a Cricut mug press because the cups are plastic, they would melt, that’s why we sub then wrap the cup, and thank you, and thank your for watching!!
Definitely do, they are easy and turn out nice, check out the tumbler one too, who woulda thought u could sub on regular vinyl, amongst the many other products u can sub on with laminate.
Loved this tutorial! I'm interested in sublimation, and was wondering how this could be done with airpod cases, and I'm guessing this technique is similar. I really like this idea, great for holiday gift baskets!
Thank you, and thank you for watching!! Yes, u can wrap all kinds of things this way, u could probably do air pod cases this way, or u could buy sublimation air pod cases as well, lots of options! Can do lighters, tin buckets, million different kind of cups, u can see by my other videos some things like clocks and cutting boards.
Thank you for watching! I would say for an order of 100 I would look for a way to outsource them. I had made a few of these for my kid, and a few customers, but if I took and order for 100 I would outsource them, heck even if I took an order for that many tumblers id outsource them

Thank you for your video. Man, do you ever remind me of myself. I’m 52 and just starting this as a hobby to help kill some time while I wait for back surgery. COVID has messed up the surgery schedule here in Saskatchewan. Anyway, I really liked your video. I watched every second of it learning and laughed a few times Re: Chipmunks. Keep up the great work. What I was originally looking for though was an answer to …. Can a person sublimate on any ceramic mug or is it a special kind of mug ? But thx to your video, I learned a new way as well. Cheers
Mike, thanks for watching and the kind words, yes sir, never woulda thought I woulda been I got this kinda thing a few years ago lol, never the less I’m enjoying it. That sucks about your back, good luck getting it fixed up, hopefully things get better there and everywhere soon. As for the mugs, they have to be coated with a coating, u can buy stuff to do it yourself, which I have tried, but find it easier to just order the sublimatable mugs, less hassle in having to apply a coat perfectly for the sub to come out right! U can generally find the mugs with coating already for between $1 to 1.50 usd.
Yes my heat press for shirts is a heat press nation signature series 15x15 swing away with the sure pressure system, and mugs I have a mug press that can with my first heat press I ever ordered but it was a no name Amazon special 12x15 6 in one or 8 in one
Wow i never knew about any of this. Anyway, so u heat up the sublimation n laminate for 20 sec and then from that to vinyl for 60sec? Sorry, im not sure if i heard it properly. Love ur tutorial.

@@tonycarrington4426 they are in London, not exactly sure where, unfortunately haven’t gotten to go for a visit yet, although they just welcomed a baby, so may have to try and get over there soon!
Let me see if I understood correctly. You cut the laminate sheet, permanent vinyl and printed sublimation sheet with the cup template. You laminated the vinyl first, and then you sublimated on the laminated vinyl. After that, you wrapped your cup with the vinyl like any other decal...Is that right? I know you don’t have to seal the outside, but do you prep the cup with anything to prevent the decal from coming off? (maybe you said it, but I didn’t catch it) thank you for the tutorial!
Nancy, you are correct, and did not miss any steps. I do not pretreat with anything, and make sure cups sit 24 hours and tell customers hand wash only, I haven’t had any issues, although I also have heard others sealing with epoxy or mod podge, key is making sure everything is adhered , No overhanging pieces or loose spot
I think the only reason the vinyl holds up under the heat press is the laminate, if any vinyl is not covered by laminate it melts, but u can heat press vinyl under glass too, see my other video on this channel doing the cutting boards with vinyl and dollar tree cutting boards, that uses no laminate and u sub directly to the oracal 651
I'm still having some bubbles. Ive adjusted my heat and pressure but, could this be a material issue? Im using starcraft but same laminate as u. Ive never had any trouble out of SC but...this is a whole new world for me.
Your welcome and thank you!! Yes, I would recommend hand washing. If you liked the video subscribe to the channel, I will be dropping a new tutorial tomorrow and try to do at least one each week.
Exceptional video! Why did you choose the Cameo over the Cricut? You have both machines. Just curious. I have the Cricut already and was wondering do I need a Cameo.
I use the cameo because it was the first machine we got and my wife didn’t understand the software, so I learned cameo and then we ended up getting the Cricut for her. Now the one I used is a 4 that has the 15” cut width, so it does cut a little wider, but I used the cameo 3 for the longest and prefer the silhouette software over the Cricut, really the machines will cut the same stuff minus the width, but Cricut software is a bit more restrictive in certain ways, if anything I see a lot of Cricut users using silhouette software for design and setup and then just transfer to Cricut to cut? But if u have no problems with Cricut then it may not matter to you
This is so amazing! I ordered my sublimation printer and all the supplies yesterday so i've been doing research on it for awhile now and this is honestly the best most explanatory video i have seen yet, Alvin Xd I do have one question, is this waterproof?
Thank you very much, and welcome to sublimation!! I would not say waterproof, they can be washed and dried, I would not leave them sitting in a sink with water. And I haven’t done it, but some people are sealing them to make more waterproof I guess, but at this point I barely make these anymore as they are not super cost effective. They are great for personal use and kids and parties and the like! Hope that helps
When I load the template for the coffee cup its not the right size. What are the measurements for them to be right? Thank you so much I enjoy your videos.
Hey Renee, thank you for watching and supporting us! Your .zip file has a .txt file in it with the correct measurements to set your template up. If you cannot locate it, contact me via your Etsy order and I will give the measurements
Thank you for watching! Yes sublimation requires sublimation ink, and a printer designated specifically for sublimation. You can buy a sublimation printer from person or sawgrass already set up for sublimation, or buy an epson eco-tank and convert it for sublimation. For conversion ideas check-out Facebook group Sublimation Cove, or RUclips, I will have a recommendations page coming soon with links to various different machines and supplies I myself specifically use and can vouch for, in the meantime let me know if I can answer anymore questions and check out the ones I listed

Thank you so much, glad you found us and thank you for subscribing and getting the template!! The machine I used in this video was a Silhouette Cameo 4 plus.
Good Day🤗 TFS . GREAT JOB 👍🏾🥰.. I purchased your template, but my question is how do i get the image to fit the template? I don't know how to navigate silhouette and I use CDS. Thank you in advance for your time and help🙏🏾
Thank you Frenetta, so i do not use CDS, but from what I gather from other CDS users is you have to set up your design over the template. I made a video on ways to do this in silhouette, and I’ve told CDS users who ask to watch and relate the ideas to Cricut and it seems to help ruclips.net/video/B6pPLnV_4uc/видео.html check it put and let me know if that answers your questions
Hello, thanks for watching, first off double check your heat press if possible to see if presses hotter than readout says, secondly if seems mainly on edges then use a laminate bigger then the template, the laminate seems to protect the vinyl somewhat from the heat, so I generally have just been using full laminate sheet and cutting edges away after pressing, try that and see if that resolves your issues
@@madelinescreations7718 hey there, the measurements are included in the .txt file that was included with your download. Otherwise contact me through Etsy and I will send you the measurements there!! Thank you!!

Hi thanku for answering yes Im using exactly as u recommended on ur video I have even used modge podge spray , modge podge and epoxy and i still get that bubble as soon as we pour coffee
@@heidyespinoza3215 I have not used these for coffee nor have I had anyone mention this specific issue. Lots of bubbling while pressing, but not with hot liquid. Sadly I am not sure what tips to give, when I get time I will make one and try and try coffee in it and see what I can come up with.
I use silhouette studio to make these as well, some images will drag and drop perfectly, some you will have to adjust. For the drag and drop to work u definitely have to drag the image in from outside of studio, I made a video shortly after the cup video which shows different ways to set it up in silhouette, see if this helps ruclips.net/video/B6pPLnV_4uc/видео.html
@@bethupson2492 the template does work with Cricut, the drag and drop feature does not seem to work though, if you are new to Cricut, u may have difficulty, if not you should be fine, a lot of Cricut users have used this with no problem
I have never tried with a coffee mug, I don’t know that the laminate would stick, would probably just be better off sublimating coffee mugs, but in theory I don’t see why you couldn’t do this on a coffee mug
You would have to have some type of poly based spray for the sublimation ink to adhere to, so I’d imagine if they make a spray it would be easier, but being these are plastic cups I don’t know how you would sub the image to the cup if you had a spray, highly doubt these would hold up to a mug press. And there are surely easier, and probably better methods of doing this, this is just one way I found to do it and shared the info and technique. It’s a nice way to spice up a dollar tree cup and a cheap way to practice subbing and wrapping cups
I wonder if you can sub on glossy oracle 651 and skip the laminate? Have you tried? I have a ton of 651 glossy I wonder if that could be laminated also? Or if you could even skip the laminate and sub straight on it...
U can sub to oracal matte and glossy, I’ve only done it for cutting boards where the sub goes through the front and looks faded but looks vivid on the sticky side, maybe less time and will look vibrant on the non-sticky side. But the image holds really nice in the laminate which is the main reason for the laminate, other than cutting boards I haven’t tried subbing on the straight vinyl, but if u watch the cutting board video I made or any out there and see subbing to vinyl
Enjoyed your video . Never thought of doing it that way. Always good to learn about new ideas. Been doing this for 20 years and ya never stop learning. All of the sub suppliers sell "Mates" sublimatable plastic. don't know why they call it plastic. It's a decal material kinda like sign vinyl but it's thicker. Comes in white, clear, brushed silver or gold metal. The gold and silver sub the colors kinda translucent , like anodized looking. Stuff is pretty tuff, been using it for years. Stuck a piece of the white (printed) on top of a metal pole in my chainlink fence almost 20 years ago, it's still there. The ink is all but gone the sun at mile high elevation is pretty intense. They claim it to be dishwasher and microwave safe, never tried that. It's two steps. Sub it and cut it out ! Curious, does that model of cricut have optical recognition ?
Thank you! And I definitely agree, I always love to learn new stuff, and share, and am constantly learning, I only have about 2 years experience, so I can only imagine lol! The process you are talking about sounds very interesting, thank you for sharing and I will definitely be looking into it! I’ve just begin to experiment with subbing in last 6 months so am definitely looking forward to years of learning new tricks and ideas, and love that we have a forum like this to share and learn from!
And I’m not quite sure what you mean by optical recognition, it does have a laser that can read registration marks and I believe barcodes and the like. I’m not quite sure if that’s what u mean?
@@TouchofClassCreations You got it. Optically recognizes the registration marks. My current cutter is a 24inch Graphtec . Has it also. Have had this machine for 12 years and have never even figured out how to use that part LOL.
@@TouchofClassCreations Sadly , in the sub world , learning usually equals a fair amount of trash ! BTW. I think it's great that you take the time to reply to so many people on here. Because most don't !

Good night, God bless you, can you make a video with that template using the Cricut DS program? I have the maker and I don't have the silhouette cameo. thanks
Good morning, I am still working on using the design space, drag and drop will not work the same in Cricut though, I did make another video showing alternate ways to set up template and Cricut users have been able to relate it to Cricut. But as soon as I have the time to learn it I will try to update the video
I need help!!!!! I have done (to me) exactly what you did I heat the laminate shiny side up on top of the permanent vinyl, press it for 20 sec on 400. Then get my sublimation sheet and place it on top of the lamination sheet and press for 60 sec on 400. What is happening to me is that the everything is perfect, but my laminating sheet is not stiking to the vinyl. Not sure if is the bland of the vinyl or the brand of the laminating sheet, but that should not matter because its laminating sheet and the vinyl is permanent like the oracal 651. What am I doing wrong?
From my experience I have tried this process with 3 mil and 5 mil thickness thermal laminating sheets, so first thing is need to be thermal laminating sheets the self stick adhesive pouches I don’t think work. If your are using thermal I have tried this with 5 mil thermal sheets and they do not stick, I do not know if it is because they are thicker, but the 3 mil ones I’ve never had an issue with, my wife bought home a pack of 5 mil and 3 different cups they wouldn’t stick, drive me crazy til I realized they were thicker, that is the only thing I can think of, hope it helps!

Hello!!! Just found your channel and wanted to thank you for posting this!! My problem it that I have a Cricut and I can’t find a template for a cup. I tried to find yours as in previous post but couldn’t figure it out. Can you help me get the template?😊
Yes no problem, there are templates available here, my template does work with Cricut and there are directions to size it to Cricut, I just am not too familiar with Cricut so cannot assist with drag and dropping images which doesn’t appear to work in Cricut, but here is a link to my templates just look for the dollar tree coffee cup template as there is also one for Dollar tree tumbler too touchoclasscreations.Etsy.com
Check out the .txt file that came with your download, it has some basic instructions, and then this video can help you with different ways to set up your design. ruclips.net/video/B6pPLnV_4uc/видео.html
Hello, no it should not have melted spots that are visible after u sub, could be various different causes from too much heat, too long temp, thicker or thinner laminate. I have found using a full laminate sheet over the vinyl prior to subbing because the laminate may shrink slightly, and that tends to protect the vinyl from melting, maybe also a silicone sheet or something extra to keep from melting
U could use any color vinyl because the ink goes into the laminate, however the white vinyl is what acts as the white ink, so whatever color vinyl u would use would act as your “white ink” if that makes sense
I do not use one myself, I’ve wash tested them 5- 10 times and no issues, have not received any complaints from any I’ve sold, but couldn’t really accurately answer that.

Other than that I would make sure you are using enough pressure and heat, there have been a lot of questions on this and those are usually the main issues.

I can actually understand Alvin the chipmunk. Great video. New subscriber.
Lol, yes that was only double speed, so wasn’t too tough, my last video, the blanket one, has a chipmunk that is a wee bit harder to catch lol! Welcome to the channel!! Thank you for subscribing!!
Great tutorial. I want to try this when I eventually get a sublimation printer. So many interesting things to do. Good luck with the channel!

Thanks for watching, I do not, I have not even got to try one, but as soon as I get some in I will definitely do a video
Going to dollar tree tomorrow. Good idea thanks
Not a problem, thank you for watching!!
Can you also do this with a Cricut mug press?? AWESOME EXPLAINING!! Thanks
I don’t think this would work with a Cricut mug press because the cups are plastic, they would melt, that’s why we sub then wrap the cup, and thank you, and thank your for watching!!
You did amazing I must try this ❤️
Definitely do, they are easy and turn out nice, check out the tumbler one too, who woulda thought u could sub on regular vinyl, amongst the many other products u can sub on with laminate.
Hey Best Uni 💓 💓💓
this is super cool. thanks for sharing
Great explanation.
Thank you
Did you create the template in silhouette?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Yes Shelly I created the template in Silhouette
I love it!!! Did you by any chance finish the lid of the cup?
Thank you!! no I never did do a lid for it, I did make a template for the lid of the 16oz dollar tree tumbler though
I enjoyed your Video. How long would it take to make 1 cup? If you had a order of 100 cups how would you do this job?
Thank you for watching! I would say for an order of 100 I would look for a way to outsource them. I had made a few of these for my kid, and a few customers, but if I took and order for 100 I would outsource them, heck even if I took an order for that many tumblers id outsource them
Great walk-through!
Thank you!!
This is awesome. To hold cup thoughts, I find rice in a sealed bag and a dip will hold cup perfect for you. Just saying. Thanks
Thank you for that idea, that is actually perfect, cheap, and way easier than the odd tools I always grab and use lol!! Thanks for sharing and watching!!
Do you seal these cups so that they can be washed
i love it i was wondering how it was done …. thank u
No problem, thank you for watching!!
Thanks for the video, Awsome! Can you tell me the brand(s) of your pressing machines (shirts and mugs) how much you paid aprox for them?
Yes my heat press for shirts is a heat press nation signature series 15x15 swing away with the sure pressure system, and mugs I have a mug press that can with my first heat press I ever ordered but it was a no name Amazon special 12x15 6 in one or 8 in one
Awesome job! Thank you for sharing your style!!!

Wow i never knew about any of this. Anyway, so u heat up the sublimation n laminate for 20 sec and then from that to vinyl for 60sec? Sorry, im not sure if i heard it properly.
Love ur tutorial.
Thank you, yes, apply laminate to vinyl for 20 seconds and sublimation to laminate for 60 seconds, and thank you for watching
thank you so much I was wanting to do this but found no video or template just bougth the template
Awesome, thank you for watching, how did it turn out? ( sorry, somehow I missed your comment originally 😳 I’m sorry)

OMG!!😳 What an AWESOME tutorial!!👏🏼🎉🙋🏻♀️tfs

Great video !
Thank you!!
Thank You, this was very helpful.
Not a problem, glad it helped you! Thank you for watching!
Wow that’s amazing but I’m still confused. Lol so you can heat press vinyl?
I think the only reason the vinyl holds up under the heat press is the laminate, if any vinyl is not covered by laminate it melts, but u can heat press vinyl under glass too, see my other video on this channel doing the cutting boards with vinyl and dollar tree cutting boards, that uses no laminate and u sub directly to the oracal 651
I'm still having some bubbles. Ive adjusted my heat and pressure but, could this be a material issue? Im using starcraft but same laminate as u. Ive never had any trouble out of SC but...this is a whole new world for me.
It could be, I have never tried SC, I do get some small bubbling on occasion, if u light squeegee as soon as u lift the press that may help
Thanks for a great tutorial. Hand washing suggested?
But if u have no problems with Cricut then it may not matter to you
Great job
Do you have a template bundle for mugs and cups that I could purchase
I do not have a bundle, however that is a good idea, but my templates are available on Etsy

So you press the laminate on the vynil then the sub image on that? That's cool thanx
Yes that is correct, although technically you could do sub to laminate first. And no problem, thank you for watching!
Thank you for the video. I have a question.... I am looking into doing Sublimation- Is there a specific ink or printer needed?
Thank you for watching! Yes sublimation requires sublimation ink, and a printer designated specifically for sublimation. You can buy a sublimation printer from person or sawgrass already set up for sublimation, or buy an epson eco-tank and convert it for sublimation. For conversion ideas check-out Facebook group Sublimation Cove, or RUclips, I will have a recommendations page coming soon with links to various different machines and supplies I myself specifically use and can vouch for, in the meantime let me know if I can answer anymore questions and check out the ones I listed

Thanks you for this video. I just purchased your template. But I am unable to download it. I have been trying for several minutes. Am I doing something wrong? Can you please help me?

Hi
Just found your channel and throughly enjoy it. I subscribed and purchased your template, however was that the silhouette or a paper cutting machine.
I made a video on ways to do this in silhouette, and I’ve told CDS users who ask to watch and relate the ideas to Cricut and it seems to help
ruclips.net/video/B6pPLnV_4uc/видео.html check it put and let me know if that answers your questions
Thank you so much for responding!! I will do that. Thanks again for sharing 🤗🥰
How did you get it to automatically size into your template without using crop? I have worked with silhouette for years and have never seen that done.
Learned a lot. Thank you!

Hello, thank you for the video. Question where did you find the template? I have a cricut and I can't even find these tumbler template.
Thank you for watching, I
made the templates myself, they are available on my Etsy store touchoclasscreations.Etsy.com
My laminate always seems to crinkle when heat pressed. Any reason why or any pointers on how to avoid that? Thank you!! ❤️
Great job great tutorial thank you

Can you give me some tips ive done them and ur method is great they come out really nice but as soon as soon as I pour coffee it start to creat bubbles what can I do to prevent this ?
Thank you! are u using Oracal 651? And are u using 3 mil or thinner laminate? If yes to both of those, have u tried sealing it?
Hi thanku for answering yes Im using exactly as u recommended on ur video I have even used modge podge spray , modge podge and epoxy and i still get that bubble as soon as we pour coffee
@@heidyespinoza3215 I have not used these for coffee nor have I had anyone mention this specific issue. Lots of bubbling while pressing, but not with hot liquid. Sadly I am not sure what tips to give, when I get time I will make one and try and try coffee in it and see what I can come up with.
What app or how did you get the image to fit perfectly into your template? I also have a cameo. But I have to crop it in there. Thanks great video.
Would the template work with cricut?
@@bethupson2492 the template does work with Cricut, the drag and drop feature does not seem to work though, if you are new to Cricut, u may have difficulty, if not you should be fine, a lot of Cricut users have used this with no problem
wOW. Can I do this same technique for coffee mug from dollar tree?
I have never tried with a coffee mug, I don’t know that the laminate would stick, would probably just be better off sublimating coffee mugs, but in theory I don’t see why you couldn’t do this on a coffee mug
Would you get the same result if you just sprayed the coffee cup with something first and sublimated?
You would have to have some type of poly based spray for the sublimation ink to adhere to, so I’d imagine if they make a spray it would be easier, but being these are plastic cups I don’t know how you would sub the image to the cup if you had a spray, highly doubt these would hold up to a mug press. And there are surely easier, and probably better methods of doing this, this is just one way I found to do it and shared the info and technique. It’s a nice way to spice up a dollar tree cup and a cheap way to practice subbing and wrapping cups
Is the cup microwavable if so. Can you still microwave with the sticker made for the cup?
No, unfortunately these are plastic cups, not microwaveable and with the added vinyl would not be dishwasher safe either

U can use the silhouette studio ..save it ..the upload design in design space

@@marciabilyeu842 I’m glad u found another video to help, and thank u for your support and I’m happy was able to help.
i missed what you did what you did with the laminating pouch are those the self sticking ones
No these are thermal laminating sheets, these are the only ones I’ve tried and I believe they stick better then the self stick one
Just did a Dollar Tree cup by your instructions. Does the vinyl have melted spots after you apply the laminate? I can see them through the design.
Do you have to use white matte 651 vinyl or can you use any color of 651 vinyl?
U could use any color vinyl because the ink goes into the laminate, however the white vinyl is what acts as the white ink, so whatever color vinyl u would use would act as your “white ink” if that makes sense
😍 How many washes does it last?
I do not use one myself, I’ve wash tested them 5- 10 times and no issues, have not received any complaints from any I’ve sold, but couldn’t really accurately answer that.
