I totally didn't understand from the other video the process that puts the photo, or drawing or whatever it is you want on your cup on vinyl. I was lost honestly. I didn't understand about the laminate either. If I had done this process once or twice, or watched your video first I would have known better what was being shown in the other video.. Hello I just purchased a svg template for my cup but I don't understand how to use it. Your video didn't explain how you used the template in design space or i missed that part...please help. After watching your video I'm so excited about doing this project
For this cup, I did not complete any parts of it in design space. The template is too large to do a print then cut. You will need to design in another software in order to print it. I designed in Adobe Illustrator. You can cut the oracle 651 in design space
This looks great! I couldn't tell from the video which type of Mod Podge you were going to use to seal it. They have so many different kinds at Michaels. Could you please let me know? Thanks! :)
How do you get your print to match up with the cup template? I am using Cricut and it is too large for print and cut so if I use Photoshop how do I get the design to fit the template? Thank you for all you do for us..
Love your video. I tried to do this video; however, I don't think I heard the correct time once you place the sublimation paper on. How many seconds did you say? I heard the 400 degrees and thought you stated 60 seconds but my vinyl came out a mess. Picture was great but the vinyl backing was destroyed.
Hi Charmayne! Thank you for watching. Yes, I press the image into to laminate/vinyl at 400 for 60 seconds. Are you using oracal 651? Also, do you leave the paper backing on the vinyl when pressing? I haven’t experienced a problem with the backing under the heat. I have experienced melting or distortion of the vinyl when I don’t cover the entire piece of vinyl with laminate. Try using a Teflon sheet under the vinyl.

As long as it’s a permanent vinyl, it should work. Each vinyl is different. So vinyl doesn’t hold up well to the heat. I have been able to sub on cricut removable vinyl.
I've been able to sub on the removable cricut brand vinyl without it falling apart. The main reason for using the oracal 651 is because it's permanent. So, it lasts a little longer.
@@TheBestUni So I adjusted quite a bit. The final measurements are a little bigger in width than the actual cup. Hope this helps drive.google.com/file/d/1AGzauqef0Yf9mgE-JZMTV6C43EI5Tamr/view?usp=sharing
Why mod podge? Mod podge is water based so why would it not come off when you wash it? 651 is permanent adhesive vinyl so it should stay even through dishwasher. It can be pressed at 400° so it can withstand the temperature of a dishwasher without peeling off if the prep was done properly. Just curious why the mod podge step 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks for watching! I thought the same thing about the mod podge. I prefer epoxy. However, the cups that I've made are still in tact after multiple washing. I usually apply about 4-5 layers of mod podge, let it cure for at least 3 days before using or washing. Sometimes, I spray a sealant in between layers...not all the time, though. The 651 doesn't really hold up well under the heat. The laminate is what protects it...and that's what worries me. Laminate hasn't always proven to be reliable for me. 😏 Also, the actual cup is what mainly needs to be dishwasher safe.
Mod podge will definitely dissolve in water since it’s water based. It’s not waterproof. Hand washing without submersion and soaking might stave it off but it will always be defeated eventually. A happy accident I experienced lol.
@@NailsbyAmbie I haven't tried that formula to be honest but I have my reservations due to the fact that there are stronger adhesives that are not dishwasher friendly.
