Can you tell me what settings did you put on your printer to get vibrant? I’ve been struggling with the right settings because every setting I’ve done so far has made mine not bright but dull.
I just published a video today where I show how I print my images. What printer, sublimation ink, sublimation paper, and sublimation tumblers are you using? ruclips.net/video/32v_a17baWg/видео.html
I have the same press and settings, each time you open the clamps there is a smoke that briefly comes off of the mug and a smell. Did you have the same experience, does it go away with use?
Part of the smell goes away fairly quickly. But with sublimation tumblers, you will continue to have a smell with any press. At least I still have a smell with all of my tumbler presses.
Hi Marilyn, thank you for this video. I have issues with the bottom looking as nice as yours. I did notice you cut off some of the excess off the bottom. Maybe I need to try that.
Yes, I don't like to have a lot of excess at the bottom. It's easier for me to work with the tumbler and not have white splotches when I cut most of the excess off. I hope it helps you too and thank you for watching.
Yes, you use sublimation ink and sublimation paper. I converted an Epson EcoTank printer to a sublimation printer simply by putting sublimation ink into it instead of the ink that came with it. Some people use regular printer paper, but I find sublimation paper works better for me. Thank you for watching!
I use 2 printers for sublimation - an Epson Ecotank 2760 and an Epson Ecotank 15000. I mostly use the 15000. I have Cosmos sublimation ink in the 2760 and Hiipoo sublimation ink in the 15000. I slightly prefer the Hiipoo ink.
I would like to do this myself and a several questions if you don't mind answering them would be great? What do you use to get your designs and is there a current software you have to have to do this on your computer? Do you know if you can convert a printer you already own to do sublimation? I would also like to know what you do to make your shirts? Is it sublimation or something else?
I get most of my designs from Creative Fabrica. I have an annual membership. You can use any design software and some people even print from programs like Microsoft word or Cricut Design Space (size limitations though). Personally, I would recommend a design software such as Inkscape. I use Inkscape to print my designs and it is free. To convert a printer you already have, you would have to take all of the ink out first, including that which is in your tubes, and you may have to flush it out, but I am not sure on that. There are videos on doing it, though. And not all printers are good for doing this. Epson Ecotanks are often used as sublimation printers. On shirts, I use sublimation, vinyl, the dtf/sublimation hack, rhinestones, etc. So, I have various methods that I use. Thanks so much for watching! And let me know if you have more questions.
It is sublimation paper and the image was printed with sublimation ink. So, it infuses into the sublimation tumbler and looks great! Thanks for watching.
Are you interested in this particular image, because it is quite a bit different than the typical sublimation image in that you have to piece together parts and pieces from a file, or are you talking about setting up an image for sublimation on tumblers in general?
I have found over time that 2 presses is enough. But both ways works great for me. The 2nd turn (3rd press) was simply to make sure good pressure has made it all over the tumbler. But again, for me, 2 presses is enough. Thank you for watching and asking about it.
My first several tumblers were not very good so if you are having issues, keep at it. It is so much fun and so pretty when you find the process that works for you.
Would 45 and 45 work or would the 20 be needed as well? Thinking about getting this one because I keep getting ghosting with the oven even though it was fine before. 30oz just isn’t working in the oven for me.
What ink and paper are you using? Also, what time and temp are you using? My first several tumblers were big disappointments, but hopefully you will soon find the settings and pressure you like. When I started, I was using too much pressure and too much time/heat.
@@MakingwithMarilyn I am using the Brother sublimation SP1 printer (my eco tank clogged so many times I finally threw it away) I am using the Tumbler manufacture heat and time. This is so frustrating
@@ronniea.4830 I would try pressing one of the tumbler designs onto 100 percent polyester. If it looks good, then you can rule out the issue of it being your print.
@@MakingwithMarilyn thank you for taking the time to reply, I actually did that and yes it's not the print. I also pressed inti metal tiles and the results were the same like the tumblers, dull and somewhat grainy. 😭
Yes, that is how I make mine. I have a small overlap on the sides. Some people but their two sides up against each other, but I prefer a small overlap.
I do not put anything on my tumblers. But if you wanted to, you could spray them with a clear protective coating that is made to not yellow over time. I think it might be UV resistant or something like that.
I get almost all of my images from Creative Fabrica and I get commercial licenses with images from that site. I don’t sell tumblers with copyrighted designs on them.
Hi, do you leave the sublimation paper on the tumbler to cool down completely before removing it, I take mine off while it's still hot and sometimes the picture isn't always as vibrant, am I doing it wrong please 👍
I do not wait for the tumbler to cool. Factors that I have found affect vibrancy - what paper are you using, what print settings are you using, are you using too much pressure (that can cause problems too), are you undercooking or overcooking your tumblers? I find that brown and dark red tumblers are really finicky. I was overcooking them and found that less time resulted in a much better color for me. Also, are you using a press or a convection oven.
I was on RUclips responding to comments when yours popped up:) I used an Epson Ecotank 15000 with Hiipoo Sublimation Ink in it. Thanks for the comment!
I love how easy to understand you made this video , I am new and want to start sublimation can you share how you print the design on the paper before you sublimate to the tumbler?
I make my image (for most 20 oz skinny tumblers) 9.4 inches x 8.2 inches, then cut off any excess when I wrap it. You have to print in the mirror image. I use premium presentation matte and high quality printing. Then I use an epson ecotank that I put sublimation ink into instead of the regular ink and print it on sublimation paper. Thanks for watching!
I have searched high and low for this specific design and I can’t find it! Are you able to share a link to it?? Or could you share the design with me??
The printer, ink and paper are all in the video description if you are interested, but in essence, I used an epson ecotank that I have sublimation ink in (versus the ink that comes with it). And I printed it on sublimation paper. Some people use regular paper, but I have never had good results with regular paper and sublimation paper isn't too expensive. Thanks so much for watching!
I use premium presentation paper with high quality setting. I also use the extra dry time feature. Other than that, I use the basic settings that are defaulted on my computer.
You mentioned you have a subscription for the images to sublimated, but can any printer or ink be used? Or is it special paper? I'm new to this, so I was wondering. Other than that, I enjoyed your video! ❤
I'm so sorry I didn't explain all that very well. You need to use sublimation ink, but you can purchase a true sublimation printer or you can use an epson ecotank printer and put sublimation ink into it instead of the ink that comes with it. I have information in the video description as to my printer and then I linked the ink and paper in the video description. Thanks so much for watching!

Excellent gift, Happ Birthday 🎂 to your Friend 💙
Thank you Jeanita!!!
This was incredibly well put together thank you
Thank you!
Beautiful work ❤ Which computer software do you recommend for sizing the design
I typically use Inkscape (a free design software) or Silhouette. Thank you so much for watching!
@@MakingwithMarilyn thank you
I am looking for about 30 white tumblers with the same image on them. Is that something you would take on as a job?
I'm sorry but I only sell actual goods (versus digital goods) locally.
Beautiful work and perfect detailed instructions!!!!!
Thank you so much!!!
what program do you use to print and design the images out
I usually use Inkscape to print my designs. I get most of my designs from Creative Fabrica.
Beautiful I'm going to give it another try. Thank you
My first several tumblers were not very good so if you are having issues, keep at it. It is so much fun and so pretty when you find the process that works for you.
Awesome work 🎉
Thank you!
Would 45 and 45 work or would the 20 be needed as well? Thinking about getting this one because I keep getting ghosting with the oven even though it was fine before. 30oz just isn’t working in the oven for me.
I wouldn’t doubt it if 45 and 45 would be enough. I will try it sometime. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video, my colors don't come as vibrant kinda dull even-tho on my screen they look very vibrant. what am I doing wrong?
You are the first person I’ve seen using butcher paper. Is the image on sublimation paper? It turn out beautiful
Yes, the image itself is on butcher paper.
What type of tape and paper do you use?
Paper Used in this Video amzn.to/41BSKyz
Ink Used in this Video amzn.to/3xPY6IF
Sorry, here is the tape I used Heat Tape Used in this Video (I like the 20 mm thick tape) amzn.to/3Ix2cul
I’m gonna give a tumbler a shot today
They’re one of my favorite things to make. Good luck with yours!
@@MakingwithMarilyn I had to do it twice. I did the mental health one like you did. The second one came out great
@@Ladybear06 I'm glad you had a great second one!!! That is awesome!
gorgeous how did you do the pictures.thanks
I used this file to make it. www.creativefabrica.com/product/comic-style-pop-art-girls/ref/1340608/
Great Job ! It's beautiful!! 🙂
Thank you so much!
Can you overlap the paper on the sides?
Yes, that is how I make mine. I have a small overlap on the sides. Some people but their two sides up against each other, but I prefer a small overlap.
Love it, the colors are so vibrant!! Great job
Thank you Diana!
Does it need to be laminated or cleared over at all to be protected?
I do not put anything on my tumblers. But if you wanted to, you could spray them with a clear protective coating that is made to not yellow over time. I think it might be UV resistant or something like that.
How do you select your images? Do ever worry about issues with copyrighting?
I get almost all of my images from Creative Fabrica and I get commercial licenses with images from that site. I don’t sell tumblers with copyrighted designs on them.
Great tips! Tumbler looks amazing and your shirt too!❤
Thanks so much!!!
Love this ! Love your video ! Thank you for being so detailed !! ❤
thank you so much!
What program do you use for the dimensions of the prints?
I typically print from Inkscape.
What is you opinion on putting the tumbler into cold water after removing from the press? I've seen it done by others
I've never done that. I just go ahead and unwrap mine quickly.
Looks Amazing
Thank you very much!
Did you have to print it the picture
@@juliomainchannel215 yes, I printed it on sublimation paper with a sublimation printer.
Great video, question for you. ? What printer did you used to print the image, that came out great
I was on RUclips responding to comments when yours popped up:) I used an Epson Ecotank 15000 with Hiipoo Sublimation Ink in it.
Hello, what kind of ink did you use? Thanks
@@danyelloneal the printer I used for this has Hiipoo sublimation ink in it.
I have searched high and low for this specific design and I can’t find it! Are you able to share a link to it?? Or could you share the design with me??
Here is the file that has so many items you can use. www.creativefabrica.com/product/comic-style-pop-art-girls/ref/1340608/
@@MakingwithMarilyn THANK YOU!!!
So whats the print like did you use your reg printer or order them
The printer, ink and paper are all in the video description if you are interested, but in essence, I used an epson ecotank that I have sublimation ink in (versus the ink that comes with it). And I printed it on sublimation paper. Some people use regular paper, but I have never had good results with regular paper and sublimation paper isn't too expensive. Thanks so much for watching!
What are your printer settings for your epson?
I use premium presentation paper with high quality setting. I also use the extra dry time feature. Other than that, I use the basic settings that are defaulted on my computer.
What is the name of that file? Do you have a link for it? It’s so pretty!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! Here is a link to the file. www.creativefabrica.com/product/comic-style-pop-art-girls/ref/1340608/
@@MakingwithMarilyn thanks!!!
Fantastic results
Thank you so much!
