    Thanks for uploading this! I'm not a complete noob when it comes to modding sticks, but I still get pretty nervous opening and fucking with something with wires and stuff everywhere. This was extremely easy to follow. I'll definitely be dropping this into my new stick.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    @YouKube there are a few sticks listed on Phreak Mods website as being compatible, but apparently more than just that list are compatible. From the website: "For quick reference if your stick is compatible, look on the PCB. If there is a KGND signal on the top row, it is compatible. The ONLY exception to this rule is BrawlSticks which are not compatible."

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    I don't think so based on this information from the website: "Due to the measurement based install of the Cerberus. It will only fit SSF4 T.E. arcade sticks and newer. This means round 1/2 and SE sticks are not compatible. For quick reference if your stick is compatible, look on the PCB. If there is a KGND signal on the top row, it is compatible. The ONLY exception to this rule is BrawlSticks which are not compatible."

    The Cerberus is designed specifically to 'dock' with a Mad Catz PCB, so it wouldn't work with the Hori PCB. I think you could still use it if you wanted to solder everything though.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    You don't cut it off (and remove it). You cut 6" back. The short piece coming from the original PCB connects to the Cerberus to provide a connection for it to pass over the 360 signals. The longer wire goes from the Cerberus out the stick to your console.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    The Cerberus does not have turbo functionality, and that's what is taking over when you are in PS3 mode. Unfortunately, there aren't any boards that will let you have turbo for PS3 + 360 currently. The original version of the Aksihop PS360 had turbo functionality, but it's no longer in the PS360+ that is currently available.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    It would only 'work' if you completely replace the HRAP stock PCB w/ the Cerberus PCB. The Cerberus was designed to be perfectly matched with the Mad Catz PCB.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    What about it did you miss? I said in the beginning to Sharpie a number on them, so you knew where they'd go back.
    Though, it's not that hard to figure out. If you follow the ribbon cables back to where they connect to something else, you'll see some silkscreening on the PCB that should help you identify what cable it is and where it should go in the 360 PCB/Cerberus.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    Sadly, no. I guess because the PCB is slightly different, so it doesn't fit together with the Cerberus. For anyone else, here's a list from the Phreakmods website of compatible sticks:
    Quck Reference List of some compatible sticks, variants of these exist and more than these are compatible:
    Madcatz SSF4 TE (A.K.A. TE-S)
    Chun Li Blue
    BlazBlue
    Soul Calibur V
    Fightstick PRO
    Fightstick V.S.
    Tekken Tag Tournament 2 TE-S+
    MadCatz Major League Gaming TE-S joystick

    For my MadzCat SSFIV TE, just need to cut off the white plastic on the headers move the pins on the xbox 360 PCB then finally it works perfectly fine on PS3 and PC!

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    Sadly it does not. I have a MVC2 TE stick as well and was told by Clayton that the Cerberus does not work with the PCB that's in there. There's a compatibility list on the phreakmods website.

    Hey Donovan, I installed the mod in my TE S+ but the connector #3 sticks up too much and I cannot close my stick, any suggestions?
    I already removed the screw, but the cables are still colliding.

  • @DonovanMyers
    @DonovanMyers  11 лет назад

    Do any of the buttons register? Or ONLY the right direction? The only thing I can think of off hand is that you need to push the 2 boards together harder. I had some trouble getting mine seated correctly too. It takes gentle force.

    Just installed my Cerberus into my TE-S but its not being detected by the Xbox360 or the PS3. When plugged into the PS3 the home light blinks but the 360 just detects for a second and turns off. My PC doesnt even detect it as a game controller. Do you happen to know what the problem may be?

    • @DonovanMyers

      Are you sure the USB connections are made correctly? That seems like the most likely issue based on what you described.

  • @mikeO31082

    What are the major differences between this and the PS360+, besides the solder-less USB? Do they both offer the same functionality?

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      The major difference is that the Akishop PS360+ is a complete REPLACEMENT to the PCB in your arcade stick. The Cerberus is a 'dual mod' solution, meaning you leave the stock PCB in place (for 360) and add in the Cerberus along side it for PS3. If you were to use them standalone, you would not get 360 compatibility from the Cerberus.

    Hi Donovan, I have a big problem, hopefully a small one to you.
    The male connection 2&5 on my Cerberus is one pin more than the female connection 2 from the arcade stick and won't fit. Im using an original TE1 stick and only found out its not supported with the fitting. I have 2 option/ questions
    1. How can I still install it as a dual mod without cutting the PCB i.e. what wires do I soldier and to where?
    2. The easier option I'm thinking is to directly connect the plugs from the TE to the Cerberus, desolder the connectors 2&5 and remove the plastic mounts so it's mountable, solder plug 2&5 from the stock PCB to the Cerberus and leave the stock PCB alone. (no dual mod).. But then the question still is what cable do I solder to what/where? i.e. what pin do I leave out, since it's 1 more than I need (2&5)?
    Hope i'm clear. Im a noob at this :(
    I sold my xbox 360 and have only a ps3 which is why i bought the Cerberus as a cheaper alternative to buying a brand new stick. For some reason I missed out the fact that it doesn't work on TE1&2. This is the only dual mod PCB I could find online.. Cthulhu and the others aren't being manufactured anymore as far as I know. Please help.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      If you want to do it as a replacement PCB, just follow my other video about installing the Cerberus in a custom joystick.
      If you want to try and salvage the 360 PCB and add the Cerberus to it still, you can probably follow option 2. To figure out the wires (I don't have a 360 TE1, so I can't give you specifics, sorry), follow the ribbon cables for the buttons and PCB connections. Around the white connectors, there are usually some screen printed labels. They should tell you what the wires are for. The other option is to use a multimeter to test continuity. Just touch one end to a pin on the 360 PCB and the other end on a button or joystick direction. The PDF install Guide for the Cerberus should help you narrow down what to test so you don't have to test everything - just the stuff related to the connectors that don't line up properly.

    • @nonsoville
      @nonsoville 10 лет назад

      Donovan Myers Okay thanks. I went with replacing the pcb, but the only thing that works unfortunately is the joystick... buttons do not work.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      Jasper 90s Do you have the ground daisy chained from the PCB to all of the buttons? And all of the signals are coming from the buttons as well? If you take a spare wire and connect the ground to a button input on the Cerberus, does it register as a button press?

      Donovan Myers Yeah that was the problem, thanks a lot Donovan. Im a noob at this. I remember u helped me visually mod my HORI stick back in 2009 with the Ryu art lol. Thanks again man.

    does this work for the mvc3 madcatz te sticks?

  • @ElseeKay
    @ElseeKay 10 лет назад

    if i wanted to install the cerberus to a 360 pcb without directly mounting, how would i go about doing that? i'm also assuming i need to hook up the buttons/stick to each board via solder or solderless-equivalent method.
    and on an alternative take, could i split the usb cable to go to the cerberus on split A and the 360 pcb on split B? i take it i should link the ground/vcc on the cerberus and the 360 pcb to each other when doing this, right?
    i'm pretty sure it would work but i'm worried about frying both boards via the usb split. a usb hub would also probably solve this, and i've looked into dpdt switches but i have no idea how to wire to that.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      Any reason you don't want to use the Cerberus for its key feature? You might be better off with a ChImp or Cthulhu board. Both of those have screw downs so you don't have to solder both sides. But yes, if you wanted to use the Cerberus you could follow my other video about installing it in a custom stick (where you trim the board down to about the size of a quarter). For the 360 PCB, you'd either just solder to the connector pins on the bottom of the board, or completely desolder the ribbon cable connectors and solder the wires into the holes the pins for those connectors were in.

      grabbed the advanced board because the normal one won't fit on the te round 2. thought i'd give the project a go to revive an old stick while i was at focus attack and ordered everything at once. much thanks for the quick reply.

      Thanks for replying. I have had my Super Street Fighter 4 TE-S (PS3) since 2010 and I have never been able to use it on PC. Looked for a solution for years but more or less the drivers that the stick uses has never been compatible with PC's I use.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  10 лет назад

      The general rule of thumb is that all DUAL mods require a Xbox 360 PCB (stick) as a starting point and the DUAL mod sits along side it to add PS3 support. A REPLACEMENT PCB, like the Akishop PS360+ gives you 360 and PS3 (and older consoles) by replacing the main PCB in the stick.

    Hey great vid can you please tell me if this would work on the razer arox fight stick

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  9 лет назад

      It would probably work using the custom method. There would be a lot of work involved if it was a 360 stick and you wanted to have it be a dual mod. I don't own the stick or have any Razer sticks. I would look for RUclips videos about the Razer stick to see if others have made a video about the pinouts and dual-modding and try to apply that to a Cerberus.

      @DonovanMyers  9 лет назад

      Pani Volta Yes, although it's not a simple as placing the board on top of the Hori board as with the TE, you'll have to solder all of the connections yourself. Look for a pinout of your stick and use that as a guide to connect the Cerberus.

    I have a Te round 1 fight stick from sf for ps3 if i do this will it work on my laptop?

    • @DonovanMyers

      A) It's really stupid that TEs don't work on all computers. I personally haven't had any issues w/ my round 1s. But I have heard people comment on this. Ridiculous. B) No, this won't really help you because it's an add-on board for a XBOX 360 stick. I would look into an Akishop PCB to replace your PS3 stick's PCB and you'll have PC/360/PS3 and other console compatibility.

    • @DonovanMyers
      @DonovanMyers  9 лет назад

      +Mason Watchburg I'm unfamiliar with Razer sticks. I wasn't able to find anything about an easy mod PCB that someone has developed. You could use a ChImp or Cerberus with the 360 PCB of the Atrox if it's common ground (guessing it is). You'll have to find a pinout of the Atrox and solder all of the the wires. You won't be able to just snap a board on like the Cerberus does on a Mad Catz TE PCB. The ChImp and Cerberus basically have a USB switch incorporated into them to either intercept (for PS3/4/PC) or pass along (360) signals to the original 360 PCB.
