Robert, thank you for your perspective on our coastline. It is very well done. Being a “SNOB” which stands for “ Society of Native Oregon Born”, I am proud of our coastline. Another proud fact that a lot of Americans are not aware of is that our entire coastline is publicly owned. That means that every foot of our coastline has public access. Pretty cool huh.

From all my years traveling around the world as a merchant mariner, there is no coastline like that of the Beaver State, so for me, aside from all the magnificent locations you have visited and shared with us viewers - _nothing_ comes even close to this epic video. I'm glad to see we share the affinity for Augustin-Jean Fresnel's groundbreaking invention (the 1.st Order lens at Cape Blanco being a perfect example!), and lighthouses in general, as this particular stretch of coast offers a great number of. (And so far I'm just watching you leave the trailer park headed for Coos bay, so now I'll just sit back and soak up and enjoy the impressions from the rest of this magic tour of coastal exploration!) Thanks a lot for sharing this with us Robert . . . ⛯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💓

I got to meet the owners of the Goonies house years ago. They're good people. They used to allow people to walk up the driveway. They even gave tours of the house on occasion. Too many people abused the privilege. They left garbage on the grounds, walked on the porch, even looked in the windows. They were very gracious in the beginning. I think it just got overwhelming.

I still live in the mid Willamette Valley with the coast only an hour and a half away. My wife and I spend many weeks each summer camping along the entire coast. They have gas attendant to pump the gas because so many logging mills closed up that they needed to provide jobs for those laid off workers. I actually miss having my gas pumped for me. It was quite a luxury. If you have any hippie in you, the Oregon country fair the first weekend in July is other worldly. It takes place right outside of Eugene OR. Look at some of the YT videos. This is my favorite section of America. Small fishing towns, yes some are a bit touristy but it's usually only apply to a couple streets of each town. Plenty of good affordable seafood restaurants. Most of the highway is along the coast. Favorite activities, clamming and crabbing. Razor clam, dungeness crab, geoduck clam and rock crab are some of the best, just don't forget to grab the license ($28 which you more than make up with a bucket full of clams or a pod of crabs).

Im doing this same route right now and man I barely make it like 80 to 100 miles a day. There's so much to see on the Oregon coast. You pullout and see something beautiful and 3 mins down the road you have to pull over again because something else catches your eye.
I've barely made it from Eureka to Coos Bay in 3 days. Its probably gonna take at least 3 more to make it to cannon beach. Amazing video Robert, and you're right seeing this coast in person is breathtaking

Thank You for sharing this. Second viewing, today is 4/7/2020, and I have been obsessed with watching the news for the past three/four weeks, which feels like I’ve been sinking into a vat of hopelessness. Desperately needing some fresh air. No better place than joining Robert on the glorious Coast of western United States. Thank You again, here’s hoping you’ll still be ‘rolling along’ when we all get through this.
We’re going to be coming into a new and different world, - will be interesting to see what that’s going to be like.
Take care, trusting you and yours will be well, and as always, especially in these perilous times, stay strong, safe and sure.

Stop promoting the state. Its misleading people because a lot of people still know the truth that this is a state with tons of skeletons, its too white and feels like the hills have eyes in most places. Thats what people need to hear about Oregon.

I live in Olympia, WA and have lived in Portland, OR. I have traveled all of both coastlines several times and have enjoyed all of both states, especially OR. The coast road goes inland for about 2/3 of vWA. The Hoh Rain Forest in the Olympic National Park is beautiful. It is one of the few temperate rain forests in the world. On your next trip to the Oregon I recommend you spend some time in Newport, Lincoln City, and Seaside. Newport has an amazing acquarium run by the Universityh of Oregon and is worth an afternoon. Also worth half a day is a walk along the harbor. There is a Ripley's Believe It or Not (kitch but interesting) and other such shops. Two wonderful restaurents is a very small restaurant across the street towards the South end that serves incredible ciopino (sp). On the Bay is Mo's which provides amazing clam chowder and if you want an extra special treat, ask them to add Bay Shrimp (for a little extra $). I like Lincoln City and try to vacation there each year. The Beach is great, it has the shortest river in the world, the Dee River shich you crossed over on your trip and a number of RV parks both on the beach and around Devil's Lake. We enjoy all the little used book stores around town, a wondcerful chinese restaurant. and Tidal Raves which is south of town a ways and where you can get a great seafood dinner. Oh, Lincoln City also has a factory outlet mall. North of Tillamook is Canon Beach where there is a huge monolith, Haystack Rock, off shore and many tide pools. A mile north of there is Seaside which has a malecon, a lot of rides and a carnival atmosphere in the summer. At the mouth of the Columbis is Ft. Stevens State Park. The Ft. Was tasked with protecting the mouth of the Columbia River from the American Civil through WW II. It is only one of a couple of places where the Japanese shelled the US mainland during WW II. Absolutely worth a visit and a tour.
