Our family lives in Newport, Oregon and camps out at Crater Lake for a weekend every year. Unfortunately, the wildfire smoke that you saw has been an increasing problem over the past decade. We have cancelled trips to Crater Lake from time to time because of the wildfire smoke. When the air is clear, Crater Lake has a memorizing, deep blue color that I have never seen anywhere in the western United States. P.S., Newport is a great place to live.
I went to Crater Lake years ago and hiked down to the boat launch. Afterwards I hiked back up and then hiked Mt. Scott. I hiked back down and drove around the lake like you did. The difference was it was very cold when I was there. That visit took so much out of me that it took me a day to recover! I, like you, am from Florida and not used to the higher elevations and cold!
Sometimes Robert I think you need to slow down. Actually you DO need to slow down as you are missing so much on your journeys. I've visited Orgogon from the UK and it's by far my worldwide favourite place on the Pacific Coast..... Go back, chill, take your time and enjoy America :-)
I’m actually going to Oregon in 3 weeks. I was like perfect timing, because it was Robert’s 2019 videos that introduced me to Oregon last year. After doing more research. I have realized how much he misses by going too fast.
Yesss, I always like to stay in each place for a while because I love to get the feel for the place, meet the locals and do some of the local stuff too💜
Well, pleasant surprise for a Sunday morning. Another hour chilling watching this video.
You really really kicked the editing up a notch in this video, if that was even possible. Truly amazing, as much as the scenery.
Oregon is beautiful! I have never been to Oregon. Thanks for sharing this with us 👍
It is a beautiful state I moved here about a decade ago and never regretted it.
❤❤❤ Makes me want to travel there too
That was awesome Mr. Robert, thank you Sir. 👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻
Love my Oregon coast line, and Crater Lake from La Pine.
It has been a long, long time since watching one of your videos and I needed one to lift the spirits and it did.
So nostalgic 😢❤
Goodbye Summer 2022 ! and this was a spectacular ending to that year. Very cinematic as usual.. I especially loved the sun rays through the pine trees while you were walking on that trail. I had to go back and watch it a few times.
Amazing I did visit Crater Lake 35 years ago although being so young I don't remember it very well.
Crater lake really does look amazing
Some beautiful terrain there. Covered a lot of that territory 27 years ago, and hope to get back there later this summer.. That is the plan for now. Thanks for the great content and as always, safe travels.....
This showed up as a notification. Then I tried looking for it and it never showed up unless I clicked on the notification. Either way I’m loving the west coast series. Really looking forward to the Alaska adventure!
Muchas Gracias hermano!
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures! It's what I would be doing if I could!
Happy & Safe travels to you .... Salud! :)
Fantastic video! Spectacular scenery and music too. Thank you Robert!
Very beautiful and diverse video. The Oregon is very interesting. Every sunset is different. Congrats, keep safe..... Love, MOM .>>>
robert, your videos are awesome and i love the soundtrack. you can tell how much effort you put into making these.
This was such a relaxing video. Crater Lake is totally Beautiful. ❤
I'm Glad you show stuff! In Real time now! The Fast forward ,, stuff, Drives me Crazy! Especially when it's, something, like a Favorite city or vacation spot! I visited in the past! Stuffs, flying so by , fast ! Hey what was That! Honestly! Sorry for the Criticism 😔 Honestly
I loved your channel for so long and I usually fall asleep to your movies. Sorry I don’t get to comment. It’s hard to believe you’re a part time traveler, you do so much and pack these long videos chock full of neat things to see. I’ve been most of the same places so I really like to see what I’ve missed💜
Nothing like the weather when its clear.
Dear Robert. I saw the Crate Lake inJune 2000. The highway around the Lake was close, because too mich snow. But it was the most interest view ever in life. Greetings from Switzerland
Truly enjoy Your videos. Retracing Our travels over the years.
So many gorgeous views! I am envious but certainly enjoy the videos😃
We were at Crater Lake 2 weeks ago. The snow was over our head and we trekked through it to see the lake. Rim road was not plowed yet. We'll be back....next time!
When you went to the crater lake, you should’ve made a right turn and went up to Lake of the woods you would’ve really liked that RV park. We’re all going there in September.
I love that place💜 I’ve boondocked in that area a lot in the snow parks
Excellent Robert 👍
Beautiful
I’m really glad you went to the block buster. When I heard you were go into bend. 👍😍
Another great video! You got to see a lot of our beautiful state! At 3:35, you were seven miles from where I live!
The sand dunes near Florence were Frank Herbert's inspiration for the Dune series of science fiction novels.
They are very interesting, how the pine tree forest turns into sand. I did a hike there back in 2019.
We just visited Tillamook cheese factory yesterday and we got lots of samples then play at Chinook Winds casino. Then back to reality in Portland. 😜.
Was in Newport and the Coos Bay Area at Easter. Nice to see your take on those areas. Bend and Crater Lake are both on my Oregon bucket list! Another great video!
Hi Robert, this is from an old video but I wanted to give you a recommendation. The next time you make meatballs, use 50% ground beef, 50%, ground pork along with Panko Italian breadcrumbs, fry them medium with virgin olive oil until golden brown. Also add an egg into the mixture of meats when kneading. Oh, and chop fresh garlic and onions into the mixture as well. I grew up in an Italian family, will be the best meatballs you ever had no need for sauce.
Robert, thanks for the walk down memory lane at Blockbusters. My weekend routine will be on Fridays stopping at Blockbusters on my way home from work, renting a few movies and returning on Mondays. Those were the days.
I dream of driving the Oregon Coast...hopefully I am able to get another vehicle and I can go there next year when the heat hits here in Phoenix, planned on it this year...but life...life had other plans. :(
What another FANTASTIC video, despite the smoky views, as a photographer or vlogger that can be frustrating, but like you said, it can also make for interesting and unique views/photos...either way, your a professional and it's still was an amazing and long (I love the longer videos) adventure once again...your still my FAVORITE youtuber! Numero uno!
I found Magic Spoon cereal at sprouts today. Enjoyed your video eating cereal!
I used to stay at South Beach State Park with my grandparents in their 5th wheel every August when I was growing up. So many good memories there. Unfortunately it looks like the town of Newport is in severe decline from what I remember
Awesome music!
Man, it is so tempting to grab a plane right now to get there. I saw the video this morning and I am still thinking on the last Blockbuster.
That valley you recorded at around 45:00 and a bit after reminds me of waipio valley on the big sland... I miss Hawaii :(
Outstanding location, stunning views 👌, enjoyable trip 👌, thanks.
One of my early memories was of Crater Lake. I remember quite clearly standing on my grandmother's knee (held by her), while looking out the car window (a 57 Chevy from what my parents once said). I remember driving up and up and up the side of this mountain, and suddenly up on top where there was a lake and nice scenery (and plenty of trees). I also remember one scene quite clearly - looking at Google Earth (on the northwest side near Merriam point) I could still see what I remembered (even though that was over 60 years ago) - looking down the slope and it seemed to go on forever... down and down and down - with very few trees.
We've talked that if we can ever escape Florida, we'd consider Oregon (maybe Washington or northern California).
I may have spotted a niece in your video, in Bend, btw. We haven't seen her in many years, so it was hard to tell.
Great video!
Hello Traveling Robert, I really enjoyed the views of Crater Lake National Park. Cape Perpetua was AWESOME...especially the views far above the sounds below. Absolutely AMAZING Robert. OUTSTANDING! Is Alaska the next trip, I guess I'll have to wait and see.
Thanks , robert . this is so beautiful !
YT needs to recognize the value here and push more subs your way - I'm sure you are enjoying your Alaska
Beautiful video, thanks for all your efforts.
Nice video 📸. Gorgeous scenery!!! I first saw crater lake from a airplane. Now I live in central Oregon. Outside of. Bend. Safe travels!!!
I really want to do this drive ♥️♥️♥️
Lovely video has always thank you 👍
Robert, when we arrived at Crater Lake 2 yrs ago, it was so smoky that we weren't able to see the lake at all!
Sorry you were not able to see it
Great video Robert. Can't wait to see the Alaska trip.
We visit Oregon and Washington State , back in 2016
I've lived in Oregon for years and while I have been in that area, I have never driven up to the lake. It is a lot bigger than I thought it was.
Sorry I missed the Premiere. Im watching now while drinking a KETO TRULY PINEAPPLE HARD SELTZER.
always looking forward to new video
Makes me want to take a west coast trip!!
Goooood morning Robert! Too bad about the smoke at Crater Lake, but it's still a beautiful spot. If you ever make it back I highly recommend a boat tour--getting to walk around on Wizard Island is really a neat experience. Besides the last Blockbuster in Bend, there are lots of cool places to see nearby in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Really surprising to see the lack of crowds in Newport, maybe because it's a weekday? (You've never been to Ripley's? I have to admit they are kind of cheesy, but you have to go at least once.) Until next time, happy trails!
Loved the video!
Great job
My last trip to Crater Lake they had a lane open for pass holders. However from what I was told only when they had enough people working at the gate.
If I could, I would build a luxury cabin, with a helipad, on Wizard Island!!
Very nice! I need to get back there. The advancing shoreline at South Beach is due to the Jettys at the exit of Yaguina Bay. They cause some sort of eddys on the backside that deposit sand.
hello Sir Robert, i saw the tillamook plant in oregon..were the ice cream was orig.made there..tillamook ice cream is available one of a mall, here in davao city,i like tillamook ice cream, bec.its so creamy,i always bought tillamook ice cream, even its a little bit expensive here in davao,it cost 500.00 php one canister...we love all flavors😆
Clearwater Florida waving hello I like that you’re gonna do the Lewis and Clark trail someday you’ll find out. Aarpa !!!
Yikes that spot in Crater Lake would have defeated my back in skills!
We are flying into Medford Friday 06/09 and starting our trip with Crater lake than work our way to Seattle
Robert, another great video. Maybe Rainx would work on your lens? Maybe somebody will comment on this option.
I hope alaska is going very well so far Robert
I here that there’s a log that floats around crater lake? I guess it floats vertically and has done it for years! They call it “the old man”
ЛАЙК !!! 😊👍
As I'm watching your video, I see a missed opportunity for a sponsor to put a banner either on the roof of your truck or the black bedliner. Also, was just listening to some of your music and wanted to request more travelling songs *with* sing along lyrics please. How about a road trip song or hitting the road song? A remake of 'on the road again' perhaps? Safe Travels!
FYI The deepest lake in North America belongs to Canada 🇨🇦……..Great Slave Lake!
Anti fog spray you can get for your glasses should work on the camera lens. Thanks for your video!
great video. so the oregon coast has very limited parking then?
Great video, would be nice if the video didn't have the music playing for every scenes.
Hey Robt. Have you composed all the tunes you play in the background and are you the only musician playing all those parts? My wife and I find ourselves humming to them. Keep traveling really enjoyed Crater Lake!!
Yes I am. Thanks!
@TravelingRobert I imagine you sitting at a synthesizer with all those instrument sounds.
I'd like to see you do a video on how you compose your music.
I also find the music very catchy and enjoy it with your amazing footage.
2022 was a horrible year for fires in Oregon, Washington and Canada. It’s hard to describe the color of Crater other than a blue you rarely see. The hike down and more importantly the hike back from the lake boat launch is roughly an 80 story climb. Be prepared. Crater is also on the Pacific Crest Trail.
And 2023 is turning out to be just as bad.
My husband and I used to take similar trips, but I'm on my own now. Watching your videos brings back memories. Is there a way you could post these videos without the music?
I don't think I can
hi cesar
On your driving footage do you let the cameras run all the time or do you start and stop them. Right now we are trying running them all the time and using highlights on the Go Pros. Always love your drive footage.
I run them all the time. The downside: many terabytes of video that never get used.
@@TravelingRobert Fully understand that. Currently have 2 NAS with 32TB of storage and keep running out of space. Are you still running the roof GoPros on internal battery or did you get an external power source for them. Have been testing a rainproof battery pack and hope to someday power the cameras with it. Plan is to just just velcro it to the roof.
I know there is not enough time to see everything. But is there enough time to see something.
So I hit you up on whats app as you suggested when I got to Florida two weeks ago, but no response, anyway I want to alert you about your new truck, Scotty Kilmer just did a video on it entitled "sad day for chevy owners" where the valves fail & break causing total internal damage to engine, it seems there have been several of these instances, so heads up and check it out. Really looking forward to your Alaska Adventure, I myself just finished doing 25 states on my Honda Goldwing, too bad I missed you, as I was in Pelican Camp neighborhood in fact I did all of florida in 5 days all the way to the tip of the keys, was fantastic, down the west coast and up the east coast. Javi G.
Let's just hope Starship doesn't break down in the middle of nowhere. So far it's been a good truck. Bu the way that What's app wasn't me. There are impostors out there.
@@TravelingRobert I guess some people don't have a life, and entertain themselves with foolish acts, I'm going to glacier national park in Montana and a few of those states in the area next, ok amigo happy trails!
What’s up, this video only showed up as a link inside another one of his videos. Why wasn’t this posted normally? Is it hidden?
It is not really posted yet.
感謝蘿蔔先生
Why did you leave the Oregon coast and go to Idaho and back to the coast
To finish the final leg of my Lewis and Clark trip
Great Slave Lake in Canada is deeper.
I am confused is this series 2022 or 2023?
2022
Every time I see a Bison...I suddenly have a crave for a burger 🍔 with coleslaw and steak fries 🍟....
Dude you should do a video with all the costs involved in going from Miami to Oregon…that’s one expensive trip with all the baggage you’re driving and hauling. What do you say to climate change believers?
We’ve seen some of the coldest winters in recent history. I say keep truckin, there’s no proof of the globe getting hotter except big cities with no trees. Please do a video of exact costs
I used to enjoy your videos, but I don't pay $26 per month to YT for and "ad free" subscription just to see ads pop up on your videos. Robert, you are becoming too mercenary.
Wow RUclips premium must have gone up in price. I still pay $9.99. By the way, I've had integrations for several years now. This is how I make a living.
I’m not sure why people have an issue with sponsored ads. Have we forgotten the old days of television with 5 minutes of commercials?
During ads I get coffee or a cold beverage depending on the time of day. Use your time wisely
Maybe time to change your name from Traveling Robert to Traveling Salesman.
Oh no, selling has never been one of my talents
@@TravelingRobert All of these companies that you sponsor seem to think it is your talent. But I'm sure they are interested in your subscribers and views.
