Another favorite video. My list is growing and hard to choose the number one so far. Absolutely gorgeous. Robert, we need a master class on how some of us can do this maybe not through an RV but how to get to some of these places and still create an income while traveling. And please nobody else pitch anything, this question is strictly for Robert. Thank you

Good morning! Early happy 4th of July! I have been watching since 2013. Your videos are welcoming, well thought out, entertaining and informative. We too traveled for a few years and it was life changing. Alaska is one of our favorites, to this very day we plan to visit again. Colorado is like you say, “Did I tell you how much I love the mountains!” We continue our prayers for you and Ily, maybe one day “We will see you, on the road!” All the best to you my friends, blessings and safe travels!!❤🎉

    Hello Robert,
Love your videos, the last time I commented I said my wife had ALS so we reminisced our many trips by watching your videos and that was how we traveled now. She passed away May 5th so now I watch and remember when we were there. First time to Pikes Peak we went right from Colorado Springs and experienced the light head, like a hangover. Second time we stayed at Woodland Park (around 8500') for a day before going up and it was much better.

Yep, years ago my friend and myself drove up to the top of Pikes Peak and got one of those foam beer coolers for a beer or soda can when we were at the gift shop up there. It said Pikes Peak 14,110 feet. (I guess we had 5 feet less snow than the 14,115 feet the monument says now.) It was friggin' cold up there, man. I'm glad he was driving. 😁

I felt compelled to comment. I just start watching your videos recently and you have some great content and this one brought back some great, but distant, memories. In 1990, my buddy and I went to Albuquerque and drove to Colorado Springs with a day trip to Boulder and Rocky Mountain NP. I forgot about the lack of guardrails and think next time in Colorado Springs, I will opt for the cog railroad. We did not go up Pike's Peak. The best we did was look at it from a huge picture window at a mall. I am SO looking forward to your adventure in Alaska. I LOVE our 49th state. I am hoping to do the same as you within several years. Safe travels and thank you so much!

I really want to go to the Valley of the Gods one day and take photos...maybe...some day...oh that was funny when you slid down the mountain a little lol...i was like...is he gonna do it? Hey Robert, greetings from Springfield MO! I'm on my own summer road trip, not quite as far-flung as yours, of course! Besides getting a headache and feeling a little out of breath at that altitude, you have to watch out for HAFE (look it up 🙂) I think you could use just a little work on your snow sliding technique. If you want my recommendation,if you get a morning like this you run the peak first as soon as the gate opens at 7am and it don’t stop and most likely you will have some time when it’s quite and you can look out over the horizon and make out the curvature in the distance and how the sky starts to darkens, also nothing beats reflection time to yourself.

More memories! I remember it being cold, windy, and rather hard breathing when we went up Pike's peak. Traffic wasn't that bad either, but then, that was in the early to mid 60s. Going up was a bit nerve-wracking, but coming down, well, I remember being glad when we reached the treeline. There was also a mine in a low area just below the visitor's center at the top. The person in the visitor's center was telling us some about the mine. I'm not sure if it's still visible or not.
I also remember seeing a "fossilized Native American boy" in the gift shop at Garden of the Gods. I was a kid then, and didn't realize that it was a fake. I heard it was still there a few years ago. We went through that area back in 1990, traveled west of Pike's Peak (to an area just below Mount Antero). I didn't recognize any of it. If you are in the area of Antero, there is a campsite near a small lake/pond called (if I remember) "Chalk Lake". It's got awesome views and the drive up is fantastic. Good fishing too.
