Never thought about getting a harbor freight roof rack. Saved me a lot of time and money

@@Tbone.357all roof baskets have water rust. I sprayed my cheap eBay roof basket with truck liner spray and used some clear rubber gasket or sealer in a tube for the joints. Never had a problem for many years and I keep it outside in the rain and garaged too.

Awesome video man! I had a dedicated forester channel but it got totaled this week while my daughter was driving it. She’s safe but the forester is gone. Just purchased a 2019 XV and looking forward to take it on as my new “dadwagon” for the channel! Love the mods!

I'm sorry to hear about your Forester.. I' actually looking into getting another Forester soon myself. I had an 04 FXT a decade ago and it was fully modified in a different way (bigger turbo, Cobb AP, etc.) but I think I'm gonna pick up a new Wilderness and do something similar I am doing with this Trek. The stomp of the light in Sandals is wild!
The plates are amazing. I have had them on two crosstrek and slid down trails on them. Hard hits trying to keep up with tacomas and never had a problem with them. I got the ones with the oil drain holes and the local jiffy lube guys don't have a problem getting in there without taking them off.

Nice to see what you've done. I have a 2021 Crosstrek Sport and have lifted it 2" and I have 17" rims and I put on the Toyo All Terrains III's also but in 225/65 17" which gives me 28.9" if I remember right. Also have the skid plate but had mine drilled for the oil drain .. and I put in a FuMoto valve to drain the oil .. I'm fussy about oil changes. I put on a tower brace and found that helps with lateral control and I have a K&N filter on it. Leaving for my 3rd trip into Death Valley on the 20th .. no problems on any trip and I do go off road and air down to 12 lbs usually. I sleep in the Trek and have all my gear inside .. I do have a Rough Country roof rack where I keep my shovel and max tracks and anything else that doesn't fit inside. I also have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2Dr that's pretty heaviely modified for off road. 🤠
Thank you for sharing! Your build sounds exciting. You sleep in your Crosstrek?! I also have a Pathfinder that has solar, bed, etc for weekend camping purposes. I’m curious to see how much space you have and what mods you made to made the trek comfortable to sleep in
@@PatrickKasilag ill be getting my 2022 Crosstrek sport in a few weeks, i would like to do a 2 inch lift, from what I’ve seen, everyone has done their own lift and not through the dealership. Any advice you can give me? I know doing it yourself would void a lot of warranty, if i do it through the dealership everything will still covered
@@legionclips8910 Well if you get a lift kit and Subaru finds out, it can only potentially void the warranty for your suspension-related components. For example, if your transmission fails or a part of your engine needs to be serviced/replaced, the lift kit is completely irrelevant to that part of the car so it should still be covered under warranty. Same thing goes with getting an intake or exhaust installed.. Then your brake master cylinder or caliper starts leaking during the warranty period, it should still be covered since that part of the vehicle is not modified. I recommend calling your local performance shops for estimates if you are not comfortable taking the car to the dealership or installing the lift yourself.
@@PatrickKasilag...in theory that is how it (the Magnuson-Moss Act) is supposed to work...however, in reality, it is a much more complicated affair. They (the dealer) can also tie in a lift to the drivetrain, based on a new/different half-shaft angle. Plus, if you run a much larger tire than spec'd, that too ties into suspension, driveline/engine and even brakes. So, one must be careful when stepping outside the factory design bounds and have a good working relationship with your servicing dealer. But if you are willing to go mod crazy during the factory warranty period, be prepared (have a plan) to be denied warranty coverage, even if the part is not directly connected to the modified areas....it's all about liabilities....
@@PatrickKasilag you just need to get Crawford lift kits and parts and itll be covered by warranty, also if you actually offroad try to order more front sway bar bracket extensions youre gonna be going through alot of those with the SSD

Waiting on my Limited to come in. Traded in my second (loaded) Outback. Am hoping I Iike it as much. Got same color as yours. Wanted blacked out wheels but not an option. Really like yours! s0 I know its a pain in yhe ass but i power wash the salt off after every snow run. as someone who grew up in Hawaii rust is a big ole pain. and I've gotten the spray down real quick
Great looking Crosstrek! I was curious about the fog light you mounted on the hood. Do they actually help during foggy conditions, being that high up and far back? I like the look of them on the vehicle. Also with the larger tires do you notice any difference with gas mileage? Great video man, Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! The pod lights on the hood are actually for when the headlamps and fog lights on the bumper get covered in mud and dust, then I have a third set of lights to illuminate the road/path. The larger wheels/tires have reduced my MPG about 2MPG with a lot of highway driving.

came to see your fog light pods. i see u got a reflector overlay. i totally cut my own vinyl out to match the shape of the taillights haha it looks great. either way thosr stock ones were ridic looking

I have a 15 Forester just put wheels and tires on it. Have a 2 inch lift I'm soon putting on. I'm so interested in that roof rack.

You didn't get an added 1" with the wheels, added to the 2" lift kit. The tire as a whole is 1" taller. The only thing you gained was where the hub sits to the bottom of the ground where it meets the ground. Which wouldn't of been a lot
Yes, cut the overall diameter added in half. 1.2" OD difference = only 0.6" added ground clearance (on top of the lift.)
235/60/17 Cooper discoverer AT3 4s no lift stock Subaru Crosstrek 2019
I did the 2” spacer lift and it caused nothing but problems. Ended up just taking it off. Lost a CV axel and the alignment was never correct.

yes! Been looking at options that won’t interfere with my tow hitch. At the end of the day, this is still my fiancés car and she doesn’t want it to be full time loud so I’m looking at options equipped with an electric passage valve to skip the muffler baffling.
I really like the wheels and tires. Does the different diameter mess with speedometer and mileage? Or the transmission?

If you had just put on the bigger tires, without the lift, do you think the tires would still have rubbed? Also, did you do any speedometer recalibration, if not how far off is the speedometer?
Yes, no doubt this size would still rub without a lift. I would not put on any larger than 215/75r15 if you don’t plan on doing a lift. I did not get a speedo calibration since it’s only about 2-3 MPH off when I’m going 65.

Wheel dealers keep telling me that 15's won't work because the brake calipers will rub. Have you seen this with yours?
Depends on the wheel spoke design, but majority of the clearance concerns would come from offset. If it's a 15x7" wheel, then most wheels between +35 to +10 should fit. Calipers would rub on most with higher than +35 offset. This set is a +15 offset, no issues.

Hi Patrick, favour to ask… I’ve ordered a new cross trek which will be delivered earlier next month. My ask is that could you kindly let me know what the bolt hole measurements are on your skid plate as I’ve acquired a metre by metre by 5mm thick piece of aluminium. I’d very much like to mirror the sizes of your engine guard for my car when it arrives. Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
What kind of offset is on the rims? I have a 2019 Subaru crosstreck with a +48mm offset. I can’t find a set of 15 inch rims with more that a +15mm offset. I do have 225/75r15 for tires. Thank you for the awnser in advance.
Great looking ride! In the manufacturer recommendations for the OEM crossbars, it suggests having a minimum space between the front bar and the mount for the roof rails. Have you noticed any fit/instability in your roof rack or bars having the front cross bar mounted directly next to the roof rail?

Looks nice. What kind of beam pattern do you get w/those LED fog bulbs? Clean & crisp or just a big blob of light? Any Jurassic Park themed items/vinyl planned for the future? Any plans for faux missiles for the roof rack to keep ppl on the road from messing w/you. Personally, I like to put a faux mini-chain gun on my car just so ppl look and think twice (yes, my mpg would take a hit). Of course trying to explain to the OSP that it's fake would be another challenge.
hmm I haven't paid too much attention to the cut-off, but I wanna say it's closer to a bob since they aren't converted to projectors or anything. I'm sure my fiance would love Jurassic Park themed stuff lol, but probably not lol. Am shopping around for a more rugged loog on the front-end so maybe a light bar with a couple Hella rally lights
The reason I would want all the reflective red area is because bad drivers can’t see what’s in front of them half the time. If the red reflectors help the blind stupid drivers see me, all the better. More practical to me for safety. 4:45

Very nice mods! Was thinking of going with 235/65R17 tires next as oem for my forester is 225/60. I know you had 75 profile sidewall. Wondering if the 235/65 would be a good compromise without rubbing.
thanks! Do you have the factory wheels and no lift currently? I think 75 aspect ratio would be way too big with 17” wheels on a forester though.. I need the wheel specs and lift info to give an opinion on clearance accurately
@@PatrickKasilag I’m running oem wheels from a stock 2019 forester premium. OEM tire size is 225/60R17 and according to the manual the stock wheel size is 17x7 J (whatever the J is I don’t know). As far as I’m aware they are +48 offset.
I’d like to be able to stick the largest tires on the stock rim as possible without rubbing anything. From what others have said I’ve seen anywhere from 235/65R17 and 225/65R17 would fit. It would be nice to go 235 wide just for a bigger contact patch, and of course bigger sidewall the better. Just the research I’ve done it seems like 235 wide would be about the limit without a lift. And no, I am currently not running a lift at all. Stock height. Although I might eventually add a 1” spacer lift at some point I the future. One thing at a time 😁. I don’t do any rock crawling where I drive it’s all pretty flat here for the most part lol.

Actually been almost 3 years with the lift kit on! Still good, but rear shocks now starting to show wear.. But it’s to be expected since I’ve put 74K miles on them and occasionally carry a dirt bike on a hitch on the Crosstrek.

Has anyone heard of any cons of offroading with the premium trim levels with the 2.0L engine?? I have the premium and I want to start adding mods i just want to make sure im not wasting my time with this trim level.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I have a 2019 Limited that already has GPS and stuff.. What year Crosstrek do you have and is it a Premium?

My Crosstrek came with fogs so I'm not sure if it comes pre-wired from factory. It wouldn't be difficult to install some wiring though. Contact DD about their kit and ask about recommendations for wiring options!
