Im glad you like it. I am a technician at a Subaru dealer in Vermont, I enjoy seeing how people make their cars their own with modifications. I have a lifted 06 impreza.
I’ve had mine for about 6 weeks and I can’t find anything that I don’t like about it. It has plenty of power to take me and my music and hunting gear anywhere I want to go. My friends have BMW’s and Infinity X-60’s and one Mercedes and they like taking my car when we go out, even if I’m not the DD. It’s a comfort issue. One of the X-60 guys is buying a Crosstrek and a Lexus driver as well !!! That speaks volumes
Crosstreks catch my eye on the road everyday. Love the way they look and the colors they come in. The blue.. The orange... And everytime I see another color I like it just the same. Nice to see the review I was wondering about the interior.
You are so right about people complaining about how slow the car is and do not own one. So true. The car is completely able to do what you need to do in traffic, on the highway etc. Correct about the break in as well. Cheers for another great video.
Gideon, its definitely not a speed demon, but it really does do just fine for daily driving, better than the older cars for sure. I'm not real sure what the weight difference is between stock and the Methods but I believe compared to Limited wheels they are lighter. The tires I'm sure are heavier through.
I almost bought one of these a few years ago. I agree with the review in the fact that they are wonderful vehicles and I liked the styling and comfort. However I passed on it because it just did not have enough power... or at least doesn't handle the environment I live in well. Steep mountain roads (high altitude) are not what this is suited for. I think if Subaru put a stronger engine in it, they would have a killer combo.
While researching wether or not the Crosstrek was the right vehicle for me. I'll have to say this review was what sold me. I ordered a Limited in black. Picking it up from the dealership tomorrow morning! I plan to do some similar mods. Thanks for the in depth and practical review. I'm sure I will be referring back to your install videos in the near future.
Dude I can’t thank you enough for making this video!!! This is by far the most relatable and straight to the point review I’ve ever watched. Much appreciated!
New first-time Subaru owner here, just bought a 2019 Crosstrek with 28,000 miles on it three weeks ago. Absolutely falling in love with this car! Base model totally stock pretty much for the moment. only initial change I'm planning is to try and grab a tiny bit more horsepower, 5 to 10 would probably be enough. Looking at an AEM Dryflow air filter and either a header back or cat back exhaust improvement.
I have a 15 Crosstrek & just recently put Continental Terraincontact A/T's on it, have about 200 miles on them so far & I have alway's wanted a more aggressive tire for it especially for the winter time. I went up to 225/60/17 from the stock 225/55/17 & they fit fine, the reviews have been good on them! Power has never been a issue for me, even in the Mountains of Colorado!
I own a 2018 Crosstrek as well. I drove that bad boy for 5 hours during a blizzard in Minnesota, basically for the hell of it. It handled like a boss! I swear to god, there was no fear in me while piloting my Crosstrek. It handled smooth, couldn't get stuck, even in a reasonable amount of snow, I was basically unstoppable. I was doing 60mph on the freeway (both hands on the wheel) and it was like carving through butter!
noaidie I laugh when I’m driving my wrx down the road and pass a truck with a 24 inch lift and they get pissy and leave me in a cloud of black smoke simply to pass me back. I can tell they just wasted a quarter tank 😂
Living in a suburban area with a lots of hills, not huge accumulation on snow but icy road is extremely common. This one will perfectly fit my life style. I don’t think I need any extra power that many people complain.
I gotten my 2014 Xtrck, and went on a crosscountry roadtrip, 3 people 1 week worth of food snacks clothing. It was comfortable, i was able to go off the road (not hard off road). In the snow, blizzard, it was a beast. I love my Crosstrek.
I owned 3 underpowered Subaru's myself and can really conform that they are nog slow and offer the best traction just thanks to that. All wheel drive just seemed to put all of the power on the ground and even my diesel powered Volvo with 100 hp more was not noticebly faster. Reality is more important than specs. Love the mods except for the mudflaps. Super video , enjoy the subby.
Just bought my brand new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek in Orange and I love it. I am already thinking of future modifications. I have heard similar complaints about the power, but for those people I say get a sports car for that. It helps me feel good that people are loving their Crosstreks because this is literally the first car I've owned. Thanks for sharing what you did to yours.
Buying this car in a couple months and couldn’t really find anything concerning modifications, this video helped so much!! Honestly feel more confident in my choice after this, have a good one!
For those who consider purchasing the 6 speed keep in mind what the Crosstrek was built for, comfort, accessibility, and ease. I really considered the 6 speed option at the time of purchase but went with the auto. Something about driving a standard crossover with 152 hp did not appeal to me.
I want a crosstrek so bad. Sticking with my Impreza hatchback for a while until I can invest in a crosstrek. Thanks for the links. I will definitely be saving all these for future reference ❤️
We purchased our Crosstrek in early 2014, 2013 model, and now have 62k miles on it. We enjoy it a lot. But if and when we get another it will be a manual transmission. The CVT mated to a low HP/torque engine is anemic. Though this may be due to the programming since when using the paddles to shift there is a world of difference. All in all if it had 20 more hp/torque in the right range and a proper auto transmission I think it would be a lot better. It may even better the mpg due to not having to push it so hard in certain circumstances.
Fabulous review, man! I'm 58 years old, so a little older than yourself, but I absolutely love your car. It looks just rugged enough to handle most off-road conditions, while at the same time getting great fuel mileage. Great job.
Hopefully someone at Subaru sees this vid and realizes what a great product spokesmen you would be. As expected great review, great video! Professional quality as always! Only thing I'm mad at is now I want a Crosstrek! 🐼🐼🐼
Well generally don't buy the first generation of a new platform, wait a couple years for bugs to get worked out or more standard features and tech upgrades.
I had a 2014 Crosstrek. I LOVED everything about the car BUT the power. I installed a K&N drop in air filter and a Borla axel back exhaustion and gained about 2hp. After the break in (I did do it right not going over 5000 rpm) the power was better, but I felt like I was thrashing the poor thing on the highway. Passing was the biggest problem. I WAS able to get the handling great by adding just a strut tower brace up front and a rear subframe power brace. I DID love the looks and room the car offered. I did have the CVT with the paddle shifters that I used pretty much all the time. I traded the Crosstrek in on a 2017 WRX Base. I have to say I am much happier with the WRX. I also own a 2016 Forester. If the Crosstrek had the same power as the Forester, I would most likely still have it. Your 18 Crosstrek looks VERY NICE. Glad you enjoy it....
Been waiting forever for Subaru to come out with a pickup truck, preferably a compact to midsize extended cab with a factory bed cover and built in bed storage. Of course it would be all wheel drive. I've read this may be a possibility.
If your a female and you want practicality, fun, function, safety, quiet and zip you cant go wrong here. All terrain, all seasons, all the right reasons. If your a male, road rage wont be the issue-only a big smile .Bought an 2018 XV iS (top of the range Crosstrek) and everything you said I found to be 100% correct.Nimble around town, comfy touring, AWD works a treat when being aggressive especially on the twisty dirt and gravel.Fuel injection makes an enormous difference compared to the previous year model.Always find it a bit amusing that a lot of comments are about the standing start not being 0-100 in 2.6 secs flat but its irrelevant stuck in the city peak traffic (unless you want to get to the red light faster than everyone else).X Mode (4WD) at the press of a button works a treat and the hill descent I found works in reverse which just happened to be a plus for me.Even washing the car doesn't bung a finger in some nook.Liked the hooks-very smart;gotta get me a set of those. My upcoming mod (by need more than anything) is the front under body skid. 2nd biggest purchase you will ever make, get one to enjoy.
I'm going to get the same exact car maybe different color and do the same mods too. It looks sick and isn't that expensive. Not trying to bite you, just appreciating the work.
Found this video looking at crosstrek videos because I'm considering buying one, and I must say thank you for you calm demeanor, well spoken vocabulary, and very informative review of the vehicle. You gave me every bit of info I was looking for in a review and more with you mods. GREAT REVIEW, SUBSCRIBED NOW THANKS
i just picked up a 2018 crosstrek as my DD. I have a 2017 sti as well. I went with the 2018 becuase i wanted a six speed manual in an suv... pretty much unheard of these days. also the 2018 model has 1st and 2nd gear much shorter than in previous years. I also only paid $20k out the door for mine...also unheard of these days for a brand new suv. that was a great review. i totally agree about how the subarus totally change after the break in. my sti and crosstrek's clutch was really touchy for the first 1k miles. both seemed a bit under powered as well. after that break in the crosstrek has a lot more pick up and shifts so much smoother. Sti was the same thing. I like the lifted look of our crosstrek and i agree about the tint. I drove my sti off the lot and went straight to the tint show with it. since i bought my crosstrek the sti has pretty much sat in the garage. i love driving it but after driving the crosstrek i thought i had a couple flat tires in my sti..the suspension is so tight on back roads.
Your car looks great man! I have a 2013 Subaru Forester, Limited. I put a 2 inch lift on it from King Springs which increases the suspension travel as well as lift the car, instead of just lifting it and using the stock springs. Big time advantage for wheel articulation. I also put BFG T/A KO2 tires on mine: 225/75/17 tire size. I kept my stock wheels for a cost savings. It looks sick, and the off road performance was massively improved. In January of 2016 there was a big snow storm in the northeast which put feet of snow on the roads. I had no trouble getting around, even on roads that had yet to be plowed. This car pushes through the snow and mud like it was on dry pavement. I couldn't be happier. By the way, to accommodate the larger tires, even with the lift, I also had to do some minor modifications to the wheel well to ensure that there would be no rubbing. Now though, I have full wheel articulation at maximum turning radius with no rubbing.
You could easily do some mods and get way more power. Headers, cams, turbo.....You could take it to 300 pretty easy and it would be reliable as hell and 300 would be plenty to pep it up a little bit.
You sold me brother! I wanted this car almost exactly. Test drove one then watched your video and I’m sold. I’m gonna get a limited as soon as I can. I sure wish the limited came with all the fancy crap came in 6spd. Great work and vision!
So partly because of your review I have had my 2019 Crosstrek Premium for two days and I totally love it. I've always have been a Jeep guy but they're so expensive these days. I never thought I'd buy a Subaru but I could see being a Subaru guy for the rest of my days. Thanks for the great review. BTW - Quartz Blue Pearl. Gorgeous!
Just bought my 2018 Crosstrek yesterday and this video pops up in my feed. I do a lot of training with firearms and camping. I loved my Forester but it was on its last leg.
I'm glad you said That about the car learning. I have a 2.5 Outback and people complain left and right how slow and sluggish it is. I have been told I would never be able to oass anyone or get up and down big hills quickly and In in the exact same boat as you. I have found no issues with get up and go for what it is. If I wanted a powerhouse I would have bought an STI
Just had 3 feet of snow in 2 days where I live and my Honda Civic is struggling with it. I started researching the Crosstrek and stumbled across your videos. These are the type of mods I would like to do if I end up buying one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I recently got a 2013 subaru crosstrek and love it. Haven't gotten to any mods yet but that lift looks sick. I love the car and so glad I got it. Loved this review dude
In a daily driver, 0-60 mph doesn't matter as much as 60 miles of comfort. If the new tires are 5% larger in diameter, your odometer might be closer to actual. The way to tell is to use a GPS to check distance and speed. Alignment settings will need to be adjusted for the changes in geometry.
Great video! Informative - and well put together design wise. I love my 2018 Crosstrek! You reminded me I need to get my front windows tinted to match back. What are your thoughts on the remote start option?
I agree! I recently picked up a 2017 premium and I really enjoy it. The trek feels more controlled, and honestly feels like it has more power then any other stock n/a SUV I've driven
I drove a dealer loaned Crosstrek for a weekend when my WRX was at the dealer for some work. I actually quite liked it. Sure it's not Fast by any means, but like you said, it's not a snail either. It's adequately fast for what it is. The added comfort, space, and millage with 87 octane are all big pluses too for a daily driver! If I was looking for a really well rounded economic friendly car this would be it.
hsn t Anyting over 87 octane, or regular fuel, in a non-turbo Subaru motor is just fattening oil companies wallets and potentially hurting fuel economy since higher octane has less energy density. The only reason for higher octane fuel is if you have high compression engines or turbocharged engines where pinging could occur on lower octane.
My orange 13 didn't have issues with paint ships per se - it did however seem to dent pretty easily. I'm talking every acorn that ever fell on it. So far on the 18 - just a small dent from me leaning ever so slightly against the side while putting a mtb on the roof rack. She seems a bit sensitive to this kind of denting. The 18 will never sit under a tree - that's for sure. Also when I say "dent" - I mean the kind of dent that really only shows when looking at a certain angle - in the right light. OCD range. ; )
Crosstrek def looks good. And in my opinion Subaru's awd system cannot be beat. I had a 2008 tribeca. I had nvr heard of it before and was out searching for a jeep a cpl yrs ago. Hopping from dealership to dealership exploring my options. I told the guy here in maryland why i wanted a jeep specifically & w hy i was a return customer as far as jeep goes.would've been my 2nd jeep. Basically he told me about subarus awd system & the method they decided to go as far as being able to transfer up to 100% power to each wheel simultaneously when most others only do 50 to 60% . Not to get to drawn out about it I FREAKIN LOVED THAT SUBARU, the drive was so smooth, that boxer engine was nice & smooth & quiet however the 3.9 ltr i feel was under powered . Didn't have that acceleration like my gmc did albeit my gmc had a 4.3 ltr vortec v6 in it. But still was 1200 lbs heavier. Anyway yea i like ur car bro, looks good.looking forward to seeing some more videos
I also have a 2018 Crosstrek which I really love. The only issue I have had is that I found out they overfilled the oil had I not checked it at 900 miles could my engine have blown!! also my passenger door lock froze and would not open. I took it to the dealer and they resolved my issues. This is the second Crosstrek Ive had, I had a 2016 loved it my husband made me trade it in for a 2017 Forester which was okay but now im back to my Crosstrek. If the engine blew how would I have proved it! Anyway thanks for listening. I have the same color as you!! Thanks Carol and I agree with the other comment you did a great job!
Solid review. Love the look as well. I'm considering as a purchase. You mention possibly travelling country. I would be interested in a video of if it's possible to sleep in one of these.
@@TalonSei Oh nice! I drove my Aunt's crosstrek yesterday and was really impressed. I like your channel lots of variety. I try to do the same on my chan. Bikes, Guns and Cars. Who wouldn't like that!
Thank you very much! The wife and I have been looking at these for a couple years and are about to pull the trigger! I think your video set the target! Thanks again.
Great review (makes the idea of owning one tempting). I have BF Goodrich ATs (KO2s) on my truck (2006 Colorado) and they are phenomenal. You are very good at this and a great salesman.
I was in the middle of writing when my internet connection died. I provided a quick edit before the failure (a first), but that's my OCD... fixing what I write. Fortunately, the edit went through. Fully enjoy your channel.
This car has nearly 9 inches of ground clearance which is perfect. The only mod I would do besides tint is add a turbo or supercharger. A decent 0 to 60 time for all new base engine vehicles should be 7 to 9 seconds. My base engine Mazda 3 with slightly more power hits 60 in 7.9 seconds and gets 30/41 mpg. I must admit Subarus are safe, fuel efficient, reliable, roomy, stylish, affordable, and have very nice interiors.
Great video! I’m considering ta similar setup in the future and these are really helpful. Also, I think you’re being way too nice to that tint shop lol.
You have pretty much convinced me that my daily will be a Crosstrek once our Fozzy is paid off and the WRX is close. If the power gets too high, Crosstrek will be the way I go for a daily. Awsome car bro. Hope you do a few other little mods in the future.
Nice video. I just purchased one last night. I totaled my 2016 Impereza Sport Premium (hit a tree at ~ 30-35 mph and WALKED AWAY!). I can't wait to pick it up next week. Might go for the light bar idea as I drive in Maine a lot (critters). I'll be putting Michelin Winter X snow tires on ASAP. Had them on the Impreza for 3 weeks before the accident and they were solid in the little bit of snow I drove them in. Most of my "off-roading" happens in the Sunday River parking lot or on the local streets near Boston.
the cvt in the have been known to handle up to a 30" tire with no issues. I've personally lifted and worked on dozens of lifted subarus and so for the XV has been one of the best offroaders for the beach and lighter trails.
On California roads a Ferrari and a Prius goes about the same speed 90% of the time,,,,, 5 miles an hour :D leave the 0-6 times in the drag strip on the road the 0-60 times are useless :D
I have an fbo e85 2017 Mustang GT and I’m currently in LA. And yeah I pretty much have this car for nothing. All those ponies with no room to stretch the legs. LA is one of the worlds biggest parking lots
Forester - More a 2 row SUV, sits up higher Outback - More of a 2 row wagon, some models can tow 3000ish pounds Crosstrek - A lifted empreza with a little more room, smaller sized than the others
All are good in the snow and do well for light offroading (great for forest roads but not rock climbers). So it kinda depends on what type of car you are looking for.
I am going to get a 2019 Crosstrek in February and I am so excited about this review. I will be doing pretty low miles driving except to go once in a awhile out of town to camp. I love the look of the car and I am getting a color I love called "cool grey Kahki". I think it is fine. I have been driving Rav 4 for the past 6 years and have loved them but just felt the ned for a change and the higher miles per gallon are very attractive. Thanks for the review. I am ever more pleased with my choice of a Crosstrek.
I had a 2014 Crosstrek. LOVED all the things you mentioned. Didn’t lift mine, although, I wanted to. The power is one thing I could’nt get over. Mine handled awesomeafter installinga Cusco shock tower brace and a rear Cusco powerbrace. I installed a 19mm rear sway bar and urethane buchings. I also went with primitive racing full skid plates. I have them on my 17 WRX and 16 Forester as well. They are awesome and add a little insurance on road as well. A Cusco brake booster is a good investment as well. Keep the videos coming. The Crosstrek is a good platform to work with, although, SubRu should put the BRZ 2.0 in the car..... I most likely would have kept mine if it had 200 hp.......
JohnnyRebel: Yeah, I do about 3,200 per month. I'm really interested in the Crosstrek, but wonder what those MPG and maintenance/repair numbers would look like.
Because of your videos.i just place a deposit on a 2018 crosstrek..I'm so anxious to pick it up.tks..I think on mine roof rack. Hook up and light bar .I have a new set 16inch tires so might as well get some rims. Yeah that's my 1st week project ..👍
@@TalonSei But a 6-spd Man would be sweet as Hell, I love my 5 but... When the time Comes I'll upgrade to the 6... In the Crosstrek, this is my forever car, Zero buyers remorse! Just doen't haul as much as the F-150 I traded it for... lol.... which 95% of the time only hauled my fat ass to work in the City... ;)
I drove a stock one with a manual one time. I was really excited to drive it! I thought it would be so much fun and seeing yours lifted with sweet tires is sick!
Put a small winch somewhere on your bar and have a location in the back that can mount it as well. Consider making or buying a tow hitch mount for the winch. Now you can get out of anything in either direction.
My stock 18 crosstrek is getting around 31-32mpg of mixed, but mostly highway driving. On a long highway drive (7.5hrs 460mi) I got almost 35mpg and managed it on one tank. that was also through several mountain passes. Mine is a 6-speed manual though, so not sure what the CVT would get. The manual is great though, don't get a CVT.
Oreo Cat No. It's not. If he would have went with 35s then yes. You can recalibrate the speedo based on the stock gear and new tire size with HP Tuners. But thanks for the lesson.
Just a quick tip to get the Crosstrek slash impreza to slide turn traction control off then put the car in manual mode keep it in first or second gear then Ken block it . I hope this works it works well in my 14 impreza and I've tried it in a couple other Subaru models including the Forester and outback.
I have my 6 speed now for just about 3 weeks but I drive a lot PA to NYC everyday.I already have 3400 miles on it and like what was said in the comments depending on how you drive I'm averaging some where around 32-33mpg. Not bad at all for a AWD vehicle. Better than my 13 Scion TC that I just parked with 233000 miles on the clock.
The NA single overhead cams historically have not taken to turbos kindly... but... I will be more than happy to let you go first. :) blueberrytaffy '18 6sp here.
MUCH better than the sti.....you're growing up kid!!!! That rear spoiler on the sti was soooooo2000, lol. Just bustin yer balls, Imma big fan of Subys overall!! You have good taste & do a great job reviewing stuff & things!!! I'm too old for a Suby, I graduated to a Ram diesel 2500 long ago...
Hi Great Video, I really enjoyed it better than most. You said its a Premium Crosstrek so it must have been over 30k. Can I ask why you selected a Crosstrek over an Outback?
great video man what exactly do you mean by "slow"? I drive around 100 miles round trip a day for work where highways speeds are about 80 mph Could this keep up on a 50 mile drive at 80-90 mph without having everyone zooming by?
Best review on the car I've seen so far. I'm stoked to be able to purchase my own. It will be a big jump in practicality from my little Ford "Power Ranger" to a Subaru CrossTrek. I've been planning to get the Limited model with the Eyesight Driver assist package and Auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Those are the only two things I really plan to get due to cost but I feel those are the most essential I need. Again, great video!

Im glad you like it. I am a technician at a Subaru dealer in Vermont, I enjoy seeing how people make their cars their own with modifications. I have a lifted 06 impreza.
Talon Sei have you tried installing LED headlights into your Crosstrek?
Do u think a small turbo is a viable option ? Maybe 25 bhp extra.

Driver_27 if it's geared up like the old legacy outback I had, it doesn't really shine until you put some weight in it.
Big tires on a 150 hp motor, reminds me of when I had a 4 cylinder toyota 4x4. Went 0-60 in 3 and half minutes.
I used to daily a 2.5l wrangler with 33" tires. 120hp, would only hit 60 downhill!

Got one 2 weeks ago and love it. Mine is the limited. Love the led lights. Very happy.
Buying this car in a couple months and couldn’t really find anything concerning modifications, this video helped so much!! Honestly feel more confident in my choice after this, have a good one!
Glad to hear it! Enjoy your new car!

@616e6f6e haaaaa
616e6f6e they didn’t, don’t worry
Talon I ended up purchasing one this past week, this review was a big deciding factor!
Glad I could help 👊🏻
Fabulous review, man! I'm 58 years old, so a little older than yourself, but I absolutely love your car. It looks just rugged enough to handle most off-road conditions, while at the same time getting great fuel mileage. Great job.
Hopefully someone at Subaru sees this vid and realizes what a great product spokesmen you would be. As expected great review, great video! Professional quality as always! Only thing I'm mad at is now I want a Crosstrek! 🐼🐼🐼
+Wayne Filardo Thanks Wayne! 👊🏻
Talon Sei How much snow did you get? We got about 6" on the ground but nothing stuck on the roads.
Well generally don't buy the first generation of a new platform, wait a couple years for bugs to get worked out or more standard features and tech upgrades.
Panda Tactical send them the link.
I agree Panda. Excellent review.
It was called the Baja. I had one and it was a lot of fun. ;)
The baja is an suv with a bed not like the ridgeline but smaller
I remember it, but I'm thinking of something up to date and more midsize.
If they brought back the Baja . . . I'd buy one yesterday.
Dale Swanson they used to make a tiny one. It had 2 seats in the bed facing backwards.

FTWbeard where did you get a 2018 crosstrek for 20k out the door and on the Ross
If they only made one with the WRX engine
Aleksandr Kamarov with a lift, nice!
You could easily do some mods and get way more power. Headers, cams, turbo.....You could take it to 300 pretty easy and it would be reliable as hell and 300 would be plenty to pep it up a little bit.
They are going to put one out, a crosstrek with a wrx engine in it. 2020 i believe.
@@kyoko900 can you link to where you read it please?
@@vandersgarage4682 how?
You sold me brother! I wanted this car almost exactly. Test drove one then watched your video and I’m sold. I’m gonna get a limited as soon as I can. I sure wish the limited came with all the fancy crap came in 6spd. Great work and vision!
I have to make my vehicles last long because we do high mileage, so the CVT is too risky for us.
Gorgeous!
I have a 2016 crosstrek limited. I recommend using ethanol free gas. On the highway I can get 40mpgs.
Yeah, but try to find it, no one has it around here.
That would be my question... How do find ethanol free?
pure-gas.org has a list of all the e free stations in the u.s.
1990Ravens do you really save since you pay more for no ethanol gas?
Danielle Rawlings yes. I can go over 600 miles on a tank before I could get close to 500.
2:51 Hell yeah for long roadtrip!
I recently got a 2013 subaru crosstrek and love it. Haven't gotten to any mods yet but that lift looks sick. I love the car and so glad I got it. Loved this review dude
+Meighan Allen Thanks Meighan 👊🏻
I own a Crosstrek but I prefer my Forester every time I drive.
You have no idea how helpful these reviews on your Crosstrek are 😁
Those Batmobile modifications are EPIC!!! ... Just Sub'd 💯
That would be nice but for this car I wanted to keep the initial price lower. My STi has remote start and I love it 👍🏻
TheLegendBullet may i ask if you know what's the recommended octane to use for a subaru legacy 2017 2.5
hsn t
Anyting over 87 octane, or regular fuel, in a non-turbo Subaru motor is just fattening oil companies wallets and potentially hurting fuel economy since higher octane has less energy density. The only reason for higher octane fuel is if you have high compression engines or turbocharged engines where pinging could occur on lower octane.
hsn t it should also be in the Subaru manual what octane you should use
TheLegendBullet alight got it, I'll check the manual. Thanks buddy!
Like the Step Brothers reference at 2:48. 👍🏽 Thanks for the video, found this extremely helpful in making a decision on my next vehicle purchase.
The best dang review on the new trek!!!
This is one of the best realistic reviews out there, thanks.
Thanks for watching 👊🏻
What's your toughs on keeping it clean. I have a black car and it's impossible to keep it looking clean summer and winter.
+Hairmandan Subarus like this are meant to be dirty. Only thing I'm ocd about is always keeping the interior clean 👍🏻
Talon Sei is it true that these new Crosstreks have a more delicate paint job and that it chips easily?
My orange 13 didn't have issues with paint ships per se - it did however seem to dent pretty easily. I'm talking every acorn that ever fell on it. So far on the 18 - just a small dent from me leaning ever so slightly against the side while putting a mtb on the roof rack. She seems a bit sensitive to this kind of denting. The 18 will never sit under a tree - that's for sure. Also when I say "dent" - I mean the kind of dent that really only shows when looking at a certain angle - in the right light. OCD range. ; )
My levorg gts is silica black. It looks dirty after few days. :)
Awesome video! Looking into purchasing one of these myself. Any updates? Are you still liking it?
Driving it everyday 👍🏻 still love it
Talon Sei Thank you! Definitely leaning towards getting this!
Just hit 3k on my new Premium Crosstrek. In love with this model! In love with your upgrades! =) Thanks for sharing, Subi fam!
Great video, really has me thinking about the crosstrek in a totally different light. I love what you're doing with it.
It definitely is and I have spent 4 days camping in here!
+Patrick Connors Thanks Patrick!
I was in the middle of writing when my internet connection died. I provided a quick edit before the failure (a first), but that's my OCD... fixing what I write. Fortunately, the edit went through. Fully enjoy your channel.
I liked your vlog style. I didn’t fast forward at all lol. My first time watching one of your videos. Just got a 2021 Crosstrek Sport. I subbed
Solid vehicle! We’ve been selling them left and right!
Love my 16' to death! Why did they stop the faux chrome accents on the front lights, love them Shiny Hockey Sticks! ;)
Tell subaru we need a fucking 6 speed.
edit: nvm the 2019 does in fact come with a 6 speed unlike earlier models.
I’m back on this video bc I’m picking up a 2021 Crosstrek after totaling my forester. Love how tasteful this one turned out!
Im not asking for 350hp but atleast 200hp
Ed Wu dude it’s 21k for an all wheel drive hat hatchback/suv thing with decent fuel economy what are you asking for?
Get an Outback 3.6R
@@RubenSOchoa I think he asked for 200 hp :)
I love the vid. Have been looking for a new car and a friend suggested the Crosstrek. This was the first vid I saw and I am sold. Loving it
Great video!
Hope you do a few other little mods in the future.
you are winning at this shit, bruh. good vids.
Hey MattV! Thank you brotha 🙌🏻😄
Have you monitored transmission temperature before and after the wheel/tires? Curious to see the difference.
the cvt in the have been known to handle up to a 30" tire with no issues. I've personally lifted and worked on dozens of lifted subarus and so for the XV has been one of the best offroaders for the beach and lighter trails.
Thanks? But all I was asking is if you did or did not monitor the transmission temperatures and could share the results.
My man nice! I’m in the market for a Jeep Wrangler but after watching this I got to check out the Crosstrek. Thanks for the wisdom!
On California roads a Ferrari and a Prius goes about the same speed 90% of the time,,,,, 5 miles an hour :D leave the 0-6 times in the drag strip on the road the 0-60 times are useless :D
Omg hahaha I say this all the time its pointless all of these wannabe speed racers
In Canada The Crosstrek beats any Ferrari... :p... -40C degree asphalt to +40C asphalt doesn't last long... ;)
In LA the best car for commuting is a motorcycle.
I have an fbo e85 2017 Mustang GT and I’m currently in LA. And yeah I pretty much have this car for nothing. All those ponies with no room to stretch the legs. LA is one of the worlds biggest parking lots
How did you choose between the Crosstrek, Forester, and the Outback?
Forester - More a 2 row SUV, sits up higher
Outback - More of a 2 row wagon, some models can tow 3000ish pounds
Crosstrek - A lifted empreza with a little more room, smaller sized than the others
All are good in the snow and do well for light offroading (great for forest roads but not rock climbers). So it kinda depends on what type of car you are looking for.
There is also the Ascent into the mix, a suburaized grocery getter with 3 rows of seats, same snow/offroad capabilities as others.
@@infocyde2024 And way better on Fuel than it's bigger cousins..
Ayyyy Dreamville and Subaru guy here...I think I ll subscribe
Does this mod void the Warranty
Just asked yesterday at Subaru NZ, they said it won't void the warrenty as long as they fitted it. Still waiting to hear back about wheel size though
Just bought one for my daughter here in Lancaster, partly based on this video. Thanks.
2000 miles in the first month.. i have a 18 legacy.. its been a week im at 1300 miles..
JohnnyRebel hes gpt the STI too, so he probably drives that more on the roads than this
rofl.. do u drive for a living?
JohnnyRebel I have the 2014 Crosstrek and it's just now hitting 23k miles. I prefer my Forester over the Crosstrek any day when I drive.
Is it a contest?
JohnnyRebel: Yeah, I do about 3,200 per month. I'm really interested in the Crosstrek, but wonder what those MPG and maintenance/repair numbers would look like.
Because of your videos.i just place a deposit on a 2018 crosstrek..I'm so anxious to pick it up.tks..I think on mine roof rack. Hook up and light bar .I have a new set 16inch tires so might as well get some rims. Yeah that's my 1st week project ..👍
Why didnt you go with the 6 speed manual?
+JerseyPrepper the cvt gets better gas milage and my STi is a 6 speed already.
@@TalonSei But a 6-spd Man would be sweet as Hell, I love my 5 but... When the time Comes I'll upgrade to the 6... In the Crosstrek, this is my forever car, Zero buyers remorse! Just doen't haul as much as the F-150 I traded it for... lol.... which 95% of the time only hauled my fat ass to work in the City... ;)
Thank you for the update man! Also thanks for replying to my tweet about your Crosstrek asking about it :p
That is a very 🐼Tactical looking Crosstrek, 🐼🐼🐼 Brrrrrra!!! 🐼🐼🐼
I drove a stock one with a manual one time. I was really excited to drive it! I thought it would be so much fun and seeing yours lifted with sweet tires is sick!
I have to say, it looks badass.
Put a small winch somewhere on your bar and have a location in the back that can mount it as well. Consider making or buying a tow hitch mount for the winch. Now you can get out of anything in either direction.
You mention your gas mileage after the wheels & tires, but not what it was stock! I'm trying to figure out how much it will go down.
Triumphtriple My '16 Crosstrek is stock with 32k miles it averages 27.5 mpg.
I just bought a 2019 Series.Gray STi, awesome seeing another gun guy with good taste!
Just get it tuned.. Tire size problem solved.
Can’t completely turn off traction control without pulling the fuse.
damn dude should have gotten the 6spd manual
If I decide to get one it will definitely be the 6 speed, though it dose concern me a bit that the advertised MPG is about 5 less with the manual.
I average 30.9 6 speed
The tests benefit autos. Drive a stick right and you can do better than advertised.
You get old and value comfort you go auto.
We have a 2016 Crosstrek and a 2018 Forrester... Couldn’t be happier with both cars.
I’m waiting for someone to pump 500+ hp into it
+Elijah 5k likes and I'll turbo it
Talon Sei !!!!
Would be easier to lift an STI
The NA single overhead cams historically have not taken to turbos kindly... but... I will be more than happy to let you go first. :) blueberrytaffy '18 6sp here.
Someone put a wrx engine in one. Look it up, it's pretty cool.
I'm a truck guy, but I have to admit, that car looks good with the mods you did to it.
If you're into the Crosstrek maybe you'll like this too... 🤔 ruclips.net/video/eAMubhhAEzo/видео.html
Hi Great Video, I really enjoyed it better than most. You said its a Premium Crosstrek so it must have been over 30k. Can I ask why you selected a Crosstrek over an Outback?
great video man
what exactly do you mean by "slow"?
I drive around 100 miles round trip a day for work where highways speeds are about 80 mph
Could this keep up on a 50 mile drive at 80-90 mph without having everyone zooming by?
Best review on the car I've seen so far. I'm stoked to be able to purchase my own. It will be a big jump in practicality from my little Ford "Power Ranger" to a Subaru CrossTrek. I've been planning to get the Limited model with the Eyesight Driver assist package and Auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Those are the only two things I really plan to get due to cost but I feel those are the most essential I need.
Again, great video!
