@@ericcarson342 Got the 2.5. Test drove and it seemed adequate but it wasn't loaded up and drove mostly flat terrain. I'd opt for the 2.5 if you could.
It's crazy how much more an entry level car is in the United States. The Subarus hold their value well there and that'll still cost less to fill than here.
Thanks for the tips! I bought mine a few months ago. I find it a fun little car to drive and I like the feel of it. 2 things I regret and did not consider before purchasing is that it does not have an auto lift gate option nor any way to add a handle inside. If you are car camping, you can’t use the back to get out. Huge deal for me as I had an auto one inside at the lift gate, one upfront by the steering wheel and also in my remote key in my previous car so I was spoiled. My previous car was a 2004 and I just assumed in all these years that it would be standard and a safety option as well. I was wrong. The other is thing is not a not as significant nor hindrance of operation but the horn is annoying, lol. I think twice about sounding it off as I’m embarrassed by it…just a personal thing.
there are video's on youtube of installations for a button to open the back from inside. i'm no mechanic but it seems fairly simple, just gotta buy the wire splitters and run wiring to a button placed through a hole in the interior paneling. the channel is Tom the Dilettante
Awesome video, I have a 2023 premium crosstrek in the same color, trim, and transmission on order in California! I think I’m going to get 8/10 or these upgrades 😂 most tasteful beginner upgrade video I’ve seen yet!
Did you end up picking up the car?? I just came up on exactly what you described in California and they told me it was special ordered and never picked up!! Lol if that's you, thanks bruh.
@@GabrielPerez-uz4bc haha yep and I’ve been loving it! I think I have something like 2.8k miles on the clock already! And snow driving is a blast in it!
Hey we actually have a lot of the same modifications, I also recommend adding led strips underneath the footwell (using permanent outdoor double sided tape), people loooove it and always comment on it. Also recommend getting an AAWireless dongle to plug into the usb port, it gives you androidauto wireless (if you use android) and it frees up your phone to to be fast charged directly from the cigarette lighter port.
I have a 2021 sport, and didn’t like wires hanging around, i bought a wireless Apple CarPlay dongle (Anyfar 5ghz) AND a wireless charger that fits like a glove, i like the button that stop the charging when my phone gets too hot Second mods were full carpet , a little more expensive than weathertech but they cover the whole carpet
Great stuff but I ordered from the he factory package # 14 and #5 they included rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, power driver seat and moon roof on my 2021 premium. The #5 option package is more of a protection one, rubber floor mats front and rear, rubberized rear hatch tray and rear seat back protector
Ah, a fellow Connecticut-plate Crosstrek! Fun stuff! I didn't realize they changed the shape of the center console lid/armrest, but it looks like the interior part where that tray drops in is the same. I also have a receiver with the overkill weight capacity, though with a different brand. It's nice to have the larger opening in the receiver since it's easier to adapt down if an attachment isn't the right size. I have a bike holder thing that wouldn't have fit a smaller one.
These are all good. Love the cup holder hero and curt hitch. You missed one IMHO...the new strut hood mod to hold the hood instead of the cheap stick. Definitely worth every bit of the $35.
thanks for the video, Felix! i hope to pick up my '22 Premium 6MT next weekend -- already have several of the mods you've listed, waiting to be installed. one thing worth mentioning... if you opt for the auto-dimming mirrors, i think the light sensor is on the back of the rear-view mirror, on the passenger side... so mounting a dash cam there would block it. i'm mounting mine on the driver's side, because the SD card slot would face toward me for easier removal anyway... :) again, great video, appreciate the tips!
I just bought a Motorola M1 for my Crosstrek. So much better than messing with a cable, I don't even take my phone out of my pocket. The cables (or very possibly my phones) get where they don't want to run Android Auto and I have to keep messing with the connection. And a couple of weekends ago, I was on a gravel road and my phone would move around and unplug.

You can put the wiring connector for the trailer through the trunk to the bottom of the vehicle that way you don't have to pinch the wiring with the hatch

I would definitely say the Crosstrek manual is not the easiest manual I've ever driven for sure, but I can tell you that the gearbox got significantly nicer to use around 750 miles or so. You just have to get used to the rev hang and time your shifts right :) I'll make a video on this
@@brandonorozco6192 I just replaced my manual transmission fluid in my 2019 Crosstrek (55k miles) with a high quality fluid and I’m really enjoying the change. Things are just smoother.

Good video my man. How do you like the manual shift on the Crosstrek and is it anything like the VA chassis WRX(I could see the Reverse Lock-Out Ring on your shifter)?
I am just starting out car camping in my 2019 Crosstrek and am wondering if there is anything that can be done so I can open the hatchback from the inside? I see that there is a small little square in the hard plastic near the locking mechanism that can maybe be cut out. Not sure if that is there for this reason or not. Have you any knowledge on this? Liked this video very much.
yes you can put a button in that square. If you remove the trim from the hatch you’ll see the wires you need to splice into. I did that on a 2016. game changer for camping.
Your dashcam looks like it lays flat against the windscreen, is that the case? If so, how did you mount it like that? Where does the power wire lead to? Easy to install? Getting a 23' Crosstrek later this year. Thanks for the video.
How’s the fuel mileage ?? Acceleration and rpm at speed in different gears ?? Can you go uphill in 6th at 60-70mph ?? Great review appreciate your modifications.
I get 31 US MPG with quite mixed driving. Acceleration is acceptable, car isn't fast but I don't need it to be! Yes you can tackle hills easily with some planning. Thanks for watching :)
Does the trailer hitch reduce your ground clearance? If so, how much? Nice video. Subaru's skimp on arm rests. They need arm rests like those on Honda Ridgelines.
This is great Felix! I definitely see myself getting some of these, I just got a 23 crosstrek…think the cup holders and center console will fit my car? Thanks!
I ran my dashcam through the joint at the top of the pillar and along the outside edge tucked under the rubber. No wiring showing except coming from the unit.
how did you add the manual? 🤔 Every single Crosstrek in a 300 mile radius of me (in 2019) was the dreaded CVT. if I could have found a Premium 6-spd, I would have bought that over the WRX I ended up in.
@andrewdonohue1853 actually the 2.0 Liter manual & the CVT have nearly identical 0 - 60 & 1/4 mile times and speed. The manual tricks you into thinking it's quicker/faster.
8:49 "TOO-lee" I'm on the fence between the Crosstrek and the Impreza 5-door, the Impreza having an advantage in that it is lower for access to the roof carrier and higher fuel economy ratings, and the lower MSRP is a big plus, and I like the Impreza color palette better, but the Crosstrek just seems more versatile overall. I would definitely go for the heavier-duty carrier bars. My tandem bike is an old-school model (Santana Elan, 1987-model), comes in about 50 pounds. A rear carrier turns your bikes into your back bumper. When I go in for the test drive I'll have to carry two dog kennels sized for my medium-size (50-pound) dogs. Subaru offers a number of pet safety accessories
For the modest increase in price for the 'trek you will see significant upgrades. Alot of the stuff you see on the mid trim imprezas are standard on the trek. If you look at the crosstrek as a trim package for the impreza and price it out that way, you will probably wind up going with the trek. Plus it looks way better, but that's just my opinion.
That dash cam will corrupt the eyesight system for those Subarus that have the system. I have the automatic with eyesight(I’ve shifted enough in my lifetime) so my Crosstrek has eyesight. I had to install one that would mount just behind the cameras. Just a word of wisdom for those with automatics.
