oh yeah! this dude knows what he is doing. I'm from the south and this is without a doubt the best shrimp and grits recipe I have ever seen on youtube. And what he said about homestyle foods sausage being the best is "true dat" for real, the best southern style sausage I have ever tasted. It's the secret ingredient in my "Creole Gumbo". Big thumbs up Keith.

There is a pretty famous southern style cooking restaurant in Savannah Georgia. I am not going to name that restaurant but among other things they are famous for their shrimp and grits. I made this recipe for a potluck at my job after watching it about five times. Several people at my job are from Savannah and are familiar with that restaurant. All of them told me that this shrimp and grits is far better than the ones from that famous Savannah restaurant. I think this must be hands-down the best shrimp and grits recipe on RUclips at this time. I do not know Keith Lorren, just giving you my experience with this recipe having followed it pretty faithfully. I can't find Walter Parks (Homestyle Foods) sausage locally any more so I substituted Nettles which is pretty similar.

@@SpiceKing I made this several months ago. It was absolutely delicious. I've been to several 'Shrimp and Grits' festivals in Georgia and this is one of those meals where no two recipes are the same. I always order it whenever I see it on the menu. Hand to God, this has become one of my 'go-to' recipes for holidays or special occasions. Lots of ingredients ...but it's a labor of love and definitely worth it. The flavors are VERY rich and flavorful especially f you use Keith's line of spices and the gruyere cheese. My suggestions ... #1 Use KL's spices if you can (they truly are amazing) #2 Use thick-cut bacon and the largest shrimp you can find (wild-caught preferably) this helps give texture to the creaminess IMHO . You can't go wrong with this recipe!
