Alex, thank you for taking your time going through the whole car, as this was one of my favourite Taikyu ST-2 cars from back then. Really appreciate it!
Awesome car...im glad more people appreciate proper handling built cars than pure power on strips... Just imagine how fast it would eb in time attack if people start bringing jgtc gt300 or gt500 cars to time attack 🤘🍻
wow I cannot believe that a lot of this car is stock. Like you guys said in the video, some people just go way too far with power and built engines. All that stuff adds weight too. Just like the old lotus saying, simplify and add lightness.
Awesome. Do more of these. Also, is it just me or is Ryan over-slowing for the corners at the end? It seems like he brakes, then has to give some gas to speed up to apex. Not knocking on his driving, just trying to learn...I've only driven this track in games.
I think it's a Subaru AWD thing. I do similar things when I drive my bugeye, the car like to push when I'm off throttle, and the my car will actually turn better if you are on-throttle with the LSD and DCCD working. Obviously doesn't really work on the car like the Supra, and honestly one of the reasons I want to drive different cars to improve my driving.
Because most american driver have perception than bigger displacement motor is always better... In subaru case.. it wasnt... The longer stroke crankshaft upset the rod ratio and piston speed at high rpm... (Explaining why ej257 rev to 6500rpm and ej207 rev to 8000rpm) Then there is issue with piston ringland...since the longer stroke, and the engine cannot grow wider, subaru have to move up the piston ring and wrist pin location (compared to ej207)... And the closer top ring to piston surface definately induced more risk to detonation that lead to broken ringland... And the ultimate issue is head gasket sealing surface.. such big 99mm or close to 4" bore in open deck/semi closed deck block means head gasket mating surface area were smaller ("weaker") than the ej207 counterpart... Hence for short speed burst like drag strip, ej257 is fine.. but for roadcourse and extended speed run, ej207 (or built ej205) is far better and reliable... Lack of torque can be solved with shorter jdm gear ratio anyway (or custom dogbox gear set)
@@AmirPomen also I get the feeling that EJ architecture was never meant to be pushed to such a big displacement(for a gasoline 4 cylinder production engine), but in the end Subaru still did it cuz of their American customers' pErCePtIoN.

I really like these rival spotlights!
I guess I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Damian Clyde i would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Dario Idris yea, I've been using Flixzone for months myself :)
@Dario Idris thanks, I went there and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it!!
@Damian Clyde no problem xD
YESSSS WE NEED ALEX ON CAMERA MORE!!!!!
Almost bought this car 3.5 years ago, it’s been stored in Florida, great car with History !
Same here. It was cheap too; like 25-28k.. but the stock drivetrain and the fact that you could register it made me pass.
So cool to see this car still being driven and raced! Legendary!!
Ultimate subaru back in the day. This was one of the hero sti's I used to watch. This and the cusco sponsored cars
I was wondering what happened to the time attack rivals series...
It's amazing what you guys have been doing with this series
We can't do many TA-Rivals videos if we're not going to events and don't have cool cars to film lol
@@JackieDing86 Well, that's true lol
Alex was the perfect person for this video!! Truly a subaru GD geek/enthusiastAF. Really appreciated him geeking out over this as hard as I did!!
Such a awesome car. Just screams old school jdm! You did good Alex.
I imagine Alex trying to talk to Jackie about Subarus and Jackie saying “I’m not interested!” In his best Jeremy Clarkson voice🤣
That is LITERALLY what happened LOL
@@JackieDing86 🤣🤣🤣
How did you know LOL
@@time_attk lmao I didn’t! that’s great Iolol
Thanks for doing that Alex! Great to see the car up close. Does it make you want to get yours out again? Cheers
I really enjoyed this spotlight. Alex and Ryan Subaru geeking out
love seeing some of the japanese racecars live a new life in the US and other places abroad!
like this and the Spoon CL7!

This is awesome Alex, this car is so cool!
Glad this car is still racing now
It would be awesome if you could restore the ARC radiator
I'm a Subaru guy and love the content
So cool to this car in the USA now!
Fav.
Did you buy this from Harris at Wirewheel? I almost bought it a couple of years ago. I regret it now 😖. The rt hand drive put me off. Dumb of me.
That Blue hawkeye WRX thoooo
What turbo is on this vf36 or vf37?
Hell yeah Ryan!
340hp with 2600 lbs is pretty fast was actually thinking to do something similar with my car
What an amazing car...
but was it dry sump? 🤔
Wet sump! I’m guessing it’s a group N oil pan
Twin Scroll FTW
Can a stock sti reach 300,000 miles ? I have a stock 2006 sti with 132,000 miles would like to go past 300,000 miles.
Heard about one that had 190k miles, it depends on the service the car gets and how it was treated in general
What a car!!
I Ryan wish they talked about how he got the chance to buy this legendary race car.

Probably just new to the car..and still learning the grip, they just got the car fow a couple of weeks right?
@@dsxmotorsports There were a few bends you could've done a bit faster, especially the left after the ESs, but I love the car.
Subaru is my favourite
How did he acquire that car?
It was for sale publicly for a while in the US!
@@JackieDing86 That is soo cool! Awesome to see this thing back alive on the streets again! Thanks for sharing!

Hi friend!
EJ207s are much better design and built than the crummy EJ257s, goddamn Subaru keeping the good stuff for their homeland.

Ej257 engine ?
EJ207
