Here's another fun question. What classic horror movie characters would YOU like to see turned into Skullector dolls? I can totally see a future Wednesday Addams doll, or maybe the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus 🤔

I’ve watched enough doll customization that I might be able to articulate them myself. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, and wrists would make me happy. Articulated ankles and hips would be amazing but I ain’t ever gonna get my hopes up for any standard doll company to give me that. We really were spoiled by old monster high

I don't either. Like the dolls aren't bad by any means, but I really have a hard time justifying purchasing even the little dolls when I can buy an objectively more impressive doll for around the same price.
I get where you’re coming from, but when I think of how the entire doll is covered in fabric, the price starts to make more sense.
@@Channotek72 Yeah, and it's built to last through a lot of play (or so MGA says), so if it's a quality over quantity situation I totally get it. If you can find your young child's dream doll in that lineup and you don't have to worry too much about the child playing rough with it, why not buy it?

as much as i miss monster high, i have low expectations speaking on the fact that it’s a mattel product in 2021.

@@lurji since it's a new re-release, I doubt it will be THAT bad. However, my expectations for quality aren't that high after the other Mattel products we've been seeing.
I kind of hope they just do reproductions of popular MH lines for a bit. I am *not* looking forward to where they're going to take these characters or who they'll leave out after the last reboot....

the budget omg dolls are cute, but $17 dollars is a lot for dolls without shoes or accessories. its nice that they have arm articulation and clothes with nice details, but the dolls are nearly $20. I don't want to think about how expensive they'll be in cad
honestly, my first impressions seeing the hairmazing 7 pack dolls were that they kinda looked like knockoffs you'd find at a dollar store
i love the two monster high beetlejuice dolls, they look so good, and i'm very excited for the monster high comeback! i'm optimistic that mattel has learned from the reboot and that the collectors dolls are high quality

I've seen the Hairmazing dolls in person, they pretty much ARE dollar store knockoff quality, it's a shame
I agree about the OMG budget line, I REALLY wish they came w shoes, it would be so fun to see their take on flip-flops, sandals, and wedges, and my dolls need summer shoe options! MHs swim lines had iconic footwear... So that is a letdown, esp at the price point (even though they are so much better than a Barbie swim budget doll, yes more than 3 times better, just like the price). I see their hair is extra long, I bet it’s nice quality. I’m interested in one of them, but we’ll see, I have to be super selective considering my no income situation.
@@Shojogurlp I think it depends more on your preference. I have a wave 1 Hairmazing Noah and I love her, she’s one of my favorite modern dolls in my collection. She feels about the same level of quality as any of my other dolls, and I think she’s cute. She doesn’t feel cheaply made/like a knock-off, though I wouldn’t compare her to my Rainbow High Dolls.
The budget omg dolls are honestly some of my favourites they’ve ever made. I very much come from the era of Bratz, so to see a less heavily themed doll is refreshing. Plus they’re all gorgeous. Wish there was a character with darker skin though.
I feel like mattel is trying to leave the doll industry. The releases that are getting leaked are... just there? Like, they do not even feel like dolls made for selling.

Mattel is absolutely not leaving the doll industry lmaoo. Dolls are actually their most profitable category, exceeding the next highest category Vehicles by more than $100 million. Collectors might not like their output, myself included :/, but dolls are actually doing really well at Mattel right now. Like up 51% YOY.
@@pants1141 Yeah, like... they seem to be doing just fine. More than fine even. It seems like the more kid friendly budget stuff is what's really beefing up Mattel's wallet when I walk through the toy aisles at my local stores but I could be wrong.

I actually won a Glo Up Girl at a Far Out Toys Zoom event and reviewed it over on my channel. I think they definitely have what it takes to stand on their own without the backing of the show. I've been watching it too and yeah...it's difficult to get through an episode because it's so phony. The only genuine part that got a smile out of me was the latest episode where they had the boys do make up with tiny hands. But I guess they wanted to do something different from all the other doll web series.
I really want the Beetlejuice monster high dolls! They look so cool. Also a huge fan of Beetlejuice though haha

Doll house when I was a kid (early 2000's) was like 20 to 25$ or so and that was for a big barbie house. Man the prices are ridiculous.
As much as I love the mh skullector pack, 90$ is better steep. I don't trust Mattel's quality at that price point either.
Super excited for the glo up dolls, hairdorables and the nanana doll with the crimped hair. The rainbow high dolls have also peaked my interest!

I'm disappointed in the play line Barbie dolls especially the clothes. Mattel has dropped quality so far where everything is printed on fabric or the dolls are wearing molded on clothing. I get it, little kids disrobe dolls and parents don't want naked Barbie dolls all over the house. As someone who's not playing with the dolls I appreciate what MGA does with the clothing but sad to say the quality looks to have dropped a little this time around. I have to agree the clothes in the Rainbow High closet aren't that great looking, for the price. I'd like to see actual pieces of clothing or a full outfit like the dolls come wearing.
Cautiously optimistic here on the MH dolls as well. I wish I had gotten the original release, but my hope is that they don’t stray too far from the original production. We’ve all seen those repros with cheaper production!
For Monster High I really liked that they had a decent number of joints and individual body types. The new series completely dropped the body types, that was awful
Okay honestly I know the price point probably plays into you being dissatisfied but the Dia de los Murtos Barbie Is honestly really really good like if we can compare that to anything Mattel has been doing it’s top tier and deserves credit for being miles ahead of everything Mattel passes as a doll.
Oh my gosh, I saw the new Hairmazing Noah SOMEWHERE but could not manage to find it again anywhere for the life of me and convinced myself I had only dreamed it and it wasn't real. SO relieved to see it show up here.
I would love ❤️ and can totally see a girl Freddy Kruger doll from nightmare on elm street! It would be cool to see this and a Jason vorhees doll from Friday the 13th collaborative set ! And ….as far as others…… maybe a vampire doll , like from lost boys , fright night ! And Ofcoarse I could totally see a chunky and tiffani doll set ! I’m a huge horror fan so seeing these come out really makes me excited !!
La la loopsy came put when I was on the cusp of being too old to play with dolls, as far as I and my parents thought atleast since I'd be in highschool in a year or so. Now though, that I'm 22, I really love their designs and a couple id keep in my toy collection with my pokemon and mlp figures!
Honestly I was originally excited when the Barbie style line was announced, the idea of fan voted garments is a great idea however I think ur right in saying that they feel dated. They really feel like “millennial Barbie” rather than influencer Barbie in my eyes
They honestly just waited too long to jump on the instagram account's ability to sell dolls. Even the one they did a poll for about a month ago had fashions that felt way out of season. Not that dolls necessarily need to be "trendy" as there are plenty of timeless fashions, but the overall vibe of these just feel about 5 years too late imo

My hopes for the MH reboot are really just that they keep to the original spirit of the characters and line. I don't particularly have expectations, I'm not super excited nor very anxious anymore. I mean, if it's bad it isn't like we haven't already been through a bad reboot. Plus, it sounds as if it will be a different continuity which means nothing will affect the original. Mostly I'm just impatient to see everything haha.
I was hoping to get the collectors dolls that ate supposed to release later next year, but they've been sort of confusing to me from the start. The more I hear the more it sounds like they're really just going to be reproductions of the first wave with slightly nicer details, and if that's the case I probably won't pick them up. That's not to say it's a bad idea - I'm sure tons of people will love them.

I'm personally very excited for the Movie Magic OMG line. The whole gimmick of the box turning into a movie theater is really cool and I love how the box the dolls come in look like a VHS tape, as I'm an avid VHS tape collector. I will say tho that I'm only interested in Galaxy Gurl and Spirit Queen, and even then I plan on restyling Spirit Queen's hair once I get her because I just... No. I saw a picture of the actual doll straight outta the box and her hair looks like rabbit ears. Still, I can't WAIT for their release and I hope I can get em.
I do think conceptually the line is very exciting and it definitely gets an A+ for package design. I just think we were robbed of some really cool big sis designs- like a fully realized Witchay Babay OMG would have been awesome! And Pop Heart's design lends itself to sooo many cool potential concepts that Starlette just doesn't live up to.
Lalaloopsys r my everything I have over 100 of the dolls from the past and I really hope they release more so I can collect more of them

So I started watching these videos and got SO EXCITED for the release of Glo Up Girls yesterday.... Only to find they are (at least right now) UK only 😭😭😭
They just went on presale here in the US, but went out of stock very quickly. They assured that more were on the way though, so keep an eye out!

Soooo I'm definitely eying Kenzie from Glo Up although I have to agree that the fashions are a bit lacking... but she's cool looking enough that I'll bite. I'm definitely getting Dia De Los Muertos Ken. They got me *good* with that one.
I don't really care about anything else and, like you, really disappointed with the Movie Magic LOL OMG line. Spirit Queen is the biggest miss I've seen from them, god dayuuum. I was the most hype for her too because a dark skin doll with a goth/horror theme? Take my money! But I think I'll get Gamma Babe though since she's caramel and I'm a sucker for space stuff. I adore her visor and little blaster. The purple outfit can kick rocks though. Lol

Also, you made a great point by saying how the line suffers by trying to be the big sister of 2 LOL baby's. None of them feel like they have at least one fully realized fit except for Gamma Babe's visor/bodysuit look imo.

Elvis Barbie - Love the GG face mould! Love the overall doll design but seems to be overpriced.
Big City Big Dreams - meh.
Dia de los Muertos - Yeah no. The faceup doesn't have the right sort of skull elements and I def agree with everything else you said. Ken could be interesting.
Style - Shitty quality. I'd rather put one together myself.
B&B - A step in the right direction? Still don't expect a collab bc of them being two completely different styles of company.
Those influencer dolls - Kinda cute dolls. Oddly cute fashions, but something feels off somehow? Agree on the series.
Princess Style - Love Elsa. Gimme. Now. Belle is boring. I love cottage style Disney dolls. Gimme. Too expensive though.
Nanana - interesting. I think it's quality over quantity, plus they're supposed to handle rough play for many years. Love the sleepover dolls with their hair textures!
Lalaloopsy - Meh.
Hairmazing - Gimme! Love Noah's design. The budget versions are... Weird. Could be useful for practicing faceups.
LOL OMG - Based on my points of reference for doll prices (note - I am in Europe), they budgets are completely reasonable, but I would've preferred them with shoes. They seem to be fully articulated and everything. Great for doll repainting if you don't want to get an entire regular OMG doll just to repaint it and maybe resell the clothes. Sports BBs are kinda boring, but I like the literal hair bow of Cheer Diva. Movie magic is... Meh. I like the witch inspired doll and I'm still weak for the turquoise space outfit. Miss Direct needs new faceup but is otherwise great.
RH - I love the closet. I want all of them. Series 3 is amazing and I want all of them, but some won't be joining my collection until they're on sale.
MH Skullectors - Adore the designs! I agree with you on their overall designs. Lydia looks like a young Bloodgood to me. They would only be worth it if Mattel places a maximum purchasing limits on them. Otherwise it's scalper hell for all of us!

The dress follows traditional Mexican clothes much more closely. I think a doll that more closely resembles a culture is better than a doll that vaguely resembles a culture in favor of a cutesy American-ized doll.
Both dolls were designed by the same Mexican-American man. I don't think it's fair to call his interpretation of his own culture "cutesy" or Americanized.

Unfortunately since she was Limited Edition, she sold out quickly. Your best bet will be ebay, buy for a significantly increased price.

I liked the Glow Up Girls before I saw all the influencer themed marketing. I too find it a bit much. But eh it’s whatever.

The overpriced aspect of some of these doll lines is because of the rabid collecting by younger audiences. I got to sit in on a kindergarten class cause of my daughter learning remote and these girls are HUNGRY for the dolls and their folks get one every dang target run. As long as people are paying you have to push to see what they will and won't pay. Worst case you got from like a 60% profit margin to a 40% or something but even on clearance I bet these expensive brands land in the black.
So honestly Beetlejuice doesnt look all that great, Would prob shell out for Lydia though

It is called greed and it never works out in the end. Hey MGAE, ...guess what??? Braids are beautiful on dolls. Dreads are beautiful on dolls. Cornrows are beautiful on dolls. Very dark skin is beautiful on dolls. True Asian eyes and skin color is beautiful on dolls. Different body types are beautiful on dolls. Representing the physically challenged is cool and beautiful on dolls. LBGTQ+ representation is beautiful for dolls. Real diversity in upper management is beautiful as well. Z

It's very cringe-worthy that nowadays, most of the young Barbie collectors or "fans" are calling "CEO face" to the "Generation Girl" head sculpt.
The "CEO Barbie" is originally called "Workin' Woman" Barbie, she was released in 1999.
The "Generation Girl" lineup was released in 1998 showing a new dated style of the late 90's with a whole new face for Barbie and let the Superstar head sculpt behind to evolve in the new beauty cannons for the new millenium. That's all.
6:48 why the hell cant we have swimsuits EVEN ON CHILD DOLLS that completely cover the butt. It looks creepy on children obviously but also from a personal standpoint: Swimsuits with bottoms like that are so uncomfortable! Why did they design them that way?!
