Personally, I'm more interested in unique looking dolls like Skelita Calaveras and Wydowna Spider from Monster High so Rainbow high never really did anything for me. But the Shadow High dolls being grayscale and the teasers for RH series 4 makes me really excited and tempting me to empty my bank account just to collect all of them 🤩!
As a scottish person merida's design hurts my eyes am gonna be honest, just the overuse of tartan. That said, it does remind me of Great Scot's more fashion-focused design, and since Great Scot is from Moray I'd say it's fitting (considering Merida's um,,, fictional kingdom is implied to be on the Moray Firth coast)
The orange doll with henna looks like she is possibly wearing a saree too!! That's super cool if that's what she is wearing. I have a Barbie doll with a saree and I got her in India which I think she was exclusive to. I can't think of many saree wearing dolls in international markets.

I got some of those molded plastic hair scrunchies when I picked up one of the leopard hair Barbies last year, and at first I also found them ridiculous and kind of infuriating… that was until I started actually using them. They hold hair really well like a clip that is the right size for dolls, and the fun vibrant colors make them great for adding a little pop to any outfit. Basically, Ive found them useful enough I wouldn’t mind having more more on hand. Also, another thing to note in their defense is that I think they could be both sturdier and a little easier option for the motor skills of younger children than if they came with the more delicate and realistic looking mini scrunchies we’ve seen with some other dolls that older collectors appreciate. I do still think they are ultimately made that way just because Mattel is looking to make cheaper pieces, but I do think they have some genuine functional value in making the dolls play friendly.

@@winglessfairy564 I’m glad he rekindled your interest!!! 😚 Honestly, I was only truly interested in Polly Pockets but I ended up in the revision era of Polly Pocket when they made the figures larger and stopped the compact style 😭 I was born in 1992 but I never had the cool compact style ones myself. The rubber clothes were alright though lol. If I came upon a classic 90’s Polly pocket at a thrift store I might pick it up though!

I'm honestly really excited to see where Rainbow High goes next. The dolls keep getting better, and I really love the purple and emerald of the next series. Super excited to see more types of people included, since there are many ways to be gorgeous/handsome. But Shadow High is also really cool! Natasha is pretty sweet, though I'll admit I'm more interested in grabbing her for a custom than I am her base doll. The hair appears as more of an off-white color in a lot of the reviews she has, and it just kind of bothers me with how much it contrasts the cool toned white of her skin. Ash and Shanelle also catch my fancy, they're so lovely, but I likely won't be able to get my hands on any of them. My stores have been notoriously understocked on RH, and ordering online has lead to a TON of quality control issues.
Though I will say, I finally got the doll I've been wanting the longest from RH, Brianna Dulce, and while I still think that price is too much (especially given how many defects she's prone too), I'm happy to have her. I didn't love the clothes in photos, but now I'm loving the sweat suit and the cute little robe, it's so good.
I actually love the totally hair inspired line. The quality is obviously not there, but the faces are stunning and I adore their hair. The outfits are ugly as hex but I would have loved them when I was younger, and I might pick a few up if I find them on sale.

When I said I wanted RH to be more campy and extra with their fashion, I DID NOT mean whatever the hex Luna's got going on. Heather and Channel are 100% my favs. Ash's face is such an improvement from River, and his AirPods are so freaking cute.
I can't wait to see the purple series 4 doll, she already looks adorable! I also have been very disappointed with mga's previous attempts at kawaii aesthetics, but the new doll looks like a step in the right direction, and probably the work of a new designer.

Every new release from RH has made me fall more and more in love w doll collecting, I used to collect dolls up until around 14 before falling off it, got into restyling bratz dolls last year and was quietly eying off RH dolls, when series 3 came out I was OBSESSED and scooped up all of them, and then pacific coast came out and I was skeptical of them at first but then became obsessed when I realised their restyle potential, absolutely awesome doll line and ik I’ll be saving up for at least three or so of the shadow high series and as many series four dolls as I can lol
I don't think a lot of people really understand what Luna's first outfit is referencing. I don't really think her second outfit makes sense admittedly, but I think that Luna's outfit is based on space/alien girl aesthetic, I've especially seen it a lot in Japanese fashion and subcultures, we've also seen it on Gamma Babe in the OMG line. I think it is fitting because Luna is supposed to represent the moon while Sunny the sun. The fact that both of their styles are based on Japanese street fashion makes sense, even if they are opposites. It makes sense that a girl named Luna who is supposed to represent the moon would have an alien/space aesthetic.
She's not for everyone, but I personally love her a lot!

Personally; Luna, Heather, and Natasha are my main SH dolls to go for! Luna will be my first SH doll, because like Sunny Madison; Luna is actually my favorite character in the Shadow High spin-off/doll line.
I think the RH albino doll is supposed to be champagne gold or gold. Also, the eye colour further supports the albino theory, as do the glasses. Low visual acuity is a diagnostic criterion for albinism.

Since you are a doll collector I really need your help. When I was a child I had a doll, a mermaid doll. But she wasn't like typical Ariel: skin tone was darker, hair wasn't bright red and her body was different from what i used to see in Barbie dolls. I don't remember her costume well, but it was dark green top with marine pattern and the same long skirt that imitated tail. Also she had high heels on.
I believe that my aunt gave her to me around 2007-2010 and I'm so sad that I can't remember the name.
My english is quite bad and I'm really sorry for that. I'm so thankful for your help.

I actually recently bought the rainbow leopard Barbie, and she comes with the pliable plastic scrunchies. And I actually think they were an innovative good idea! From a long time collector who's collected plenty of fashion dolls in the past and have watched the actual rubber band disintegrate inside fabric and outside fabric and destroy the hair, these were a great idea! They do have an opening that opens and snaps back in place so that they stay in place and don't fall.

Honestly, hair has always been a weak spot in RH for me. Which I don't think is a particularly unpopular opinion. I'm glad Shadow High is thinking outside the box more, but God help me if I see another partial ponytail

I’ve given some thought to the whole Paris Hilton collaboration and I honestly don’t think the target audience for Rainbow High is as young as we all think it is. LOL Surprise is MGA’s brand for really young kids. The OMG dolls were made to test if there really was still a desire for quality fashion dolls out there. When the OMG’s released adults went crazy over them but they weren’t super into the fashion because it was still meant to appeal to children. That’s why Rainbow High was made, it was created to appeal to older collectors. Obviously they have to market it to children in order to actually sell it in stores but I haven’t seen any kids obsessing over them on RUclips or anywhere. They’re almost a bit too expensive for a parent to justify buying them for a kid that might end up breaking them anyways. So when you keep that in mind it makes total sense for them to collaborate with a celebrity that was super popular 20 years ago. The adult collectors know who Paris Hilton is.

These new, more „out there“ Rainbow High teasers… I think the line will be Jewel themed, since all these colors are jewel tones. The gold/white one could be a kind of Quarz with that assumption. The Prange one maybe is a Citrin or something. Emerald, Saphire and Ruby are obvious. But for the Lavender one I can‘t think of a stone with that color without research.

I have heard circulating in RH groups that there's been some internal shakeup with the team and I can't help but feel like that's contributing factor in how impressive these upcoming releases are. I'm happy they're making some changes. I've heard "buttercup" yellow for the doll with albinism but don't have a way to confirm.
Tbh I haven't been all that excited about recent releases and have been doing a little more thrfting/catching up lately while I've been waiting for Shadow High and playline MH. Nearly finished up my Fail.Fix lineup and finally got around to getting Cave Club characters Ruly and Lumina. 💖
I'm really excited for the neon orange doll in series 4. There aren't a lot of Indian fashion dolls that are like Indian kids in the present. Every single Indian doll I've every had or seen is always wearing saris and ghargras, and this is the first doll who seems like me, an Indian American girl who is still connected to my heritage, but also lives here and behaves more American than Indian.
Or maybe I'm reading too much into the small photo we got. Regardless, I'm excited for an Indian Rainbow High doll. Definitely going to be at the top of my wishlist.

If the rainbow high series 4 white/gold one is meant to be albinism representation, I really really hope she comes with a white cane. Most people who have that disease are legally blind and it'd be such a fun opportunity to see white canes with dolls - plus they could decorate the canes which real blind people like me do!
Rainbow High has grown on me so much. The very first series was everything I didn't like about fashion dolls, and I still don't like the ones that have hair, sculpts, and fashions reminiscent of the earlier releases.
My first RH was Daphne Minton; I LOVED her sweet face, fun jackets, and freckles with pastel hair. So Natasha, having similar characteristics, is a must-have for me. I'm stoked to see where the franchise will go from here because I haven't disliked any releases since I saw Daphne.

I don't think S1 RH look sad. The articulations improvements are good but in term of the dolls themselves S1 dolls are not "sadder" than the others.
The jewellery on the new S4 RH dolls seem a bit tacky. I need to see them in shops before having an opinion. RH dolls outfits can look tacky sometimes, and the numerous quality issues don't help. I hope the QC will be good on Shadow High.

I've been burned out on mainstream dolls lately but I gotta say... Shanelle Onyx is really turning the party out for me. I love how they played with the pops of white and gray in her first look. Kind of digging Ash too, surprisingly. Might be the first time I get 2 RH dolls from 1 series... though Ash's face does hold me back a bit still. I'm really glad this line didn't turn out to be a bunch of basic edgelords. Please keep dragging Luna because she looks like she's about to shoot a space hooker music video. But she goes to high school. Help me, I'm confused. I also already know I'm getting the cobalt blue girl from series 4. She's giving me a sort of sleek late 90s vibe.

I know this is late but, you should try redesigning the rainbow high dolls and/or make your own series of rainbow high dolls to help address the gap that was lacking in the previous dolls since they do have a new designer for the series 4 line. I would like to also mention that I have seen disgusting comments made over rainbow high series 4 diversity and it being dismissed as ‘woke’ unfortunately. I do have to say that rainbow high’s pervious lines have been playing it super safe and that is not helping in the long run. It’s getting boring fashion wise and character wise. I would like to see the drastic diversity that monster high had both for Rainbow High and Shadow High in the future if possible. The last thing that I would like to see yet, know that it will not most likely happen would be a physically or mentally disabled/handicap doll.
Their redesigns of the core MH Trio were amazing, so for them to redesign the frankly boring first wave would be cool!

Great vid and good luck on the Poppy lottery, I won Thiago he'll be my first Homme. The Paris Hilton situation is confusing to say the least. I understand she's improved a lot as a person and been fighting for child abuse awareness recently, but her track record is tainted with hate speech that she has had to publicly apologize for. I get it, she was a fashion icon and doll collector, but if children do just a little research on her they'll find plenty of questionable and inappropriate material. Important to remember who the target audience is for MGA and RH, something I think adult collectors tend to forget.

Yup, the type of audience that doesn't care or know about about all the hateful things she has said and had to apologize for, yuck. I can't believe they chose her to promote a doll line that's primarily targetted towards kids (something I think adult collectors need to remember at times).

I feel like she's done a lot of growth - and there's no doubt she went through a lot of trauma in her younger years that she was dealing with in a toxic manner. (Not to excuse her behavior.)

The totally hair reboot lacks what made the original so iconic and that’s the hair length, and they should keep it simple not colors or anything just plain blonde/black etc that would improve the hair play so much.

I think Luna is so dissapointing because Sunny's aesthetic has such a clear opposite culturally with scene/emo of the 2000s. she doesnt look like sunnys avant guard secret twin she looks like her washed up pop star aunt who hasnt had a hit since 2009.
series 4 rainbow high dolls have me soooo excited. I reallh hope emerald, cobolt, and the orange girl all have brown eyes tho. Neon orange in particular, we tend to only see indian women reprented in dolls as a gimick, which is why shes so exciting, but i really hope she has dark eyes, like that really beautiful deep brown that almost looks black yknow? And for emerald, while ik anyone can have vitiligo it is a slightly different experience for those with deeper skin tones, and i know it would mean a lot to people i know if she also had brown eyes. plus i just love green and brown, no matter what shes the one im most excited for. As for cobolt she really does have a deep skintone, and i dont think we have a doll that dark with brown eyes yet, krystal and daria both had bright eyes and they're gordeous dolls but I think its a place rainbow high has been slacking.
Also i hope albinism wasnt the intention with gold girl, id love an albino rainbow high doll but if that was their goal with her they wouldve failed hard so i dont think it was. Shed be far paler and her eyes would be pink. an albino doll would be so cool tho, with a guiding rod and a big sunhat and glasses, i hope they go for that in the future im sure theyd knock it out of the park looking at season 4.

@@tessfabled4115 That's very interesting! My friend has pink/red eyes , which I guess is why I associate albinism with that possible eye colour the most. I wasn't aware blue or purple were considered more common :)
