    Hey everyone, this is the first video that I’ve made for this channel. It’s no frills (ahem..no editing) they will only get better as I go, so thanks for watching and hope it is of use to you.

      @@petrolvectors I build custom stitching setups and high end leather goods, but I’ve always wanted to do stickers and shirts/hats. I’m a few thousand into it with my brother set up, all new, have no idea what’s happening. When I say no computer skills, I mean me texting this was it. In a month Ive totally self taught the process so far. From what folks are saying the brother is the hardest to use, I’m getting a little better. This videos shot me a semester into the next grade… thanks.I’m in it to make some sweet designs to stick everywhere.

      That's good to know, one of my other interests is actually leather work I have a thing for watches so I like anything related to that, I am a proper novice though my saddle stitch looks like it would be at home on a potato sack!🤣 I'm glad my video was helpful, I'm trying to make the videos I wish I had when I got started with cutting and designing stickers. I'll have to do a review on my cutter some time, it's just an eBay special for cheap but gets my small number runs done and has been reliable so far. If you get stuck with anything give me a shout.

    Hey, thanks for the tutorial. Do you know how many layers would be the maximum? You got 2 layers and it looks amazing. But what if I want to make a sticker for a T-shirt? Would it be possible to make 3-5 layers? Or should I empty out the base layer so the other colors will fit in

    • @petrolvectors
      @petrolvectors  9 месяцев назад

      Hey! Thanks for the comment, I would say 3 max maybe 4 if the last layer is just smaller details, 5 and you’d be stacked up like a Las Vegas card dealer! 😂 I try to avoid designs where I need more than two layers, use as many colours as you want but make sure they are separate from each other and only applied to the base layer, the vinyl soon gets thick and stiff past 3 layers. Experiment though, you might be able to achieve what you need 👍 Dan

    When would you use vinly over using large sticker papeR?

    • @petrolvectors
      @petrolvectors  2 года назад +1

      Vinyl is usually water and weather proof to some degree and provided it has a good adhesion will last a number of years even in adverse environments, paper stickers are better for indoor applications, although you can treat the paper stickers using lacquer to help them survive outside.

    What about doing a clear piece over the whole thing? Therefore you can maybe feel the difference in layers but you can’t peel them off. I haven’t seen anyone do that. Thought it was a good idea.

    • @petrolvectors
      @petrolvectors  2 года назад +1

      Hi Racerx! Yes it's a good idea, I haven't tried that as I don't have any clear vinyl in stock. I'm not sure how well the clear vinyl would conform to the layers underneath it may leave slight air gaps around edges although it might work with a little heat, worth looking in to 👍🔥

    Medium or low tack?

    • @petrolvectors
      @petrolvectors  2 года назад +1

      I would say it is medium tack as on some surfaces especially plastic it can tend to lift the sticker but certainly easier to work with than the cheaper types I have used.

    What brand transfer tape do you use

    • @petrolvectors
      @petrolvectors  2 года назад +1

      Hi Janis! I use deTAPE it has a low tack so you can remove it easily from the vinyl once it's been applied. I've used some cheaper brands but they were so sticky I'd often pull the sticker back off again, deTAPE works for me but I'd recommend any low tack product for this kind of work 👍

    • @petrolvectors
      @petrolvectors  2 года назад

      Hi Josh, I am using DeTAPE at the moment I haven't found anything better but often try out new products. It has a low tack so is easy to remove once the sticker is in place, had some cheaper stuff but it won't let go of the sticker and half pulls it back off!
