I'm right in the middle of a big job making a four-color vinyl logo for a service van, and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out hw to align everything just right without wasting too much vinyl, and after watching this video, I can now get to work knowing I can pull it off perfectly! Thats wicked! What an awesome way to do a layered sticker. Really appreciate the tutorial. I have to try this with a 24x24" sticker now. Appreciate the tutorial!
So I have a free tip for everyone that’s simply amazing. Instead of using parchment paper you cut two pieces of Frisco Craft transfer paper cut to the same size. Combine the two sticky sides together and now you can clearly see where the vinyl needs to be placed. The outside of the transfer paper is silicone like and the vinyl won’t stick. Like I said AMAZING

Absolutely fantastic video, mega useful and helpful, thank you, please may I ask a quick question. Is it possible to fold a sticker around a light box that has curved/smoothed corners.? Thank you 🙏
It's difficult to get the adhesive to stick properly once folded. It's recommended just to cut the corner apart and line up each side as close as possible! -TRW Bri

That's amazing but my question is how do you cut the decal itself? By that I mean the actual dimensions that the cutter will cut. I'm sorry if it's a stupid question. Just new to this.
No such thing as a stupid question, we love helping :-) You download a file (or, svg), and then if needed split your colors apart, load the vinyl you'll need first into the cutter, cut, then weed it, repeat for the other colors, and layer :-) -TRW Crystal

I wonder if this would work to layer htv before you press it on a garment. 🤔 I'll have to try this. Could help with lining things up and avoiding shrinkage issues.
This was super helpful and I’ve been practicing with the method the last couple days. But I can’t seems to stop getting tiny air bubbles around where layers meet. Any tips?
Practice makes perfect! Experiment with wet app as well as our very fave trick, using parchment paper to line them up. You can also work very slow from a top or side hinge method. If you're extremely careful you can pin poke a hole through the back (but stop before it pierces that front layer) and work the bubble out through the back. There's many ways to "skin a cat", just experiment (with your scraps even!) and you'll soon discover what works best for you. -TRW Crystal Here's the link to this weeks Live trainings! Good question! No, there's no need to layer like this with htv. It's not possible as each color has it's own carrier sheet and they'd just stack on top of each other instead of pressing to the shirt aside from the bottom layer. How we get great presses with multiple htv is by doing a tack press on each color, then a final press at the end. A tack press is a short few second press, let it cool, peel the carrier carefully, line up next color, repeat, then a final long press at the end. This is because of shrinkage. If you notice your multiple colors etc just won't line up, this is what's happening. The prior layers are shrinking a few mm and that throws off your alignment. Here's a good example of tack pressing: ruclips.net/video/UPCQBl0hqGQ/видео.html -TRW Crystal

It depends a lot on which software you're using. Regardless, at the end, separate your colors so you can cut each from it's coordinating vinyl color. -TRW Crystal
Hi! This is a very informative video... thanks a lot!... I just have a question about why some small parts of my 3rd layer do not stick well to other vinyl layers? I'm pretty sure I applied sufficient pressure when I was layer by layer.
It sounds like it could be the tack of the tape? Was this a tape you had reused before ? If so, you might need a new piece of tape, specially when you are layering since you are grabbing more material so you would need more tack. -TRw Mireya
@@TheRhinestoneWorld Hi thanks for your reply... I mean the applicator seems fine but it was the 3rd layer of the vinyl of the small parts seems to stick on the 2nd layer... however, when it's all transferred to the surface.. the design seems to be fragile that some would fall off by just few taps of fingers.
When you cut your Sign Vinyl there is a backing that the material comes on so we just use that because the decal can stick to that material but can easily come off when it is time to be used. Hope this helps. -TRW Bobbi
Hi! I’m new in this “world” of decals and all that... I just want to ask if the small parts don’t fall of the image if I used it on a tumbler that need to be washed constantly. Sorry I don’t speak English very well. I hope you understand. Thanks 😊
If you use parchment paper, it helps a Lot. Yes, start with the top layer...leave just a tiny edge free so that you can have a hinge to be able to pull the parchment paper out. :) -TRW Pilar
Hey Matt; is there any way to put rhinestones on something like that? I mean with using sign vinyl, not HTV. I am aware of the bling anything decals, as I do them. I just wanted to use sign vinyl on occasion. Thanks in advance
You shouldn't layer rhinestones on top of vinyl. You can however, line the design with a rhinestone border using bling anything. I can't guarantee layering the decal vinyl on top of bling anything would work well but considering the different objects that decal vinyl CAN stick to, it might work. I can't say for sure because we haven't tried it. -TRW Bri
Thank you! We absolutely Love sharing our hacks to help others. We also give away free designs every day--do you come to the site to get yours? They're svg files, so they can be used in any vinyl cutter's software. :) -TRW Pilar
For HTV you'll cut all of your colors one by one, then place the bottom layer on the shirt, a fast 5 second tack press, peel carrier, then do the same with the next layers until you reach the last one. Full press at the end. -TRW Crystal
A rhinestone decal, or just an adhesive vinyl decal? I've mailed adhesive vinyl decals all sorts of ways and they all made it just fine. Bubble envelopes, manilla, letter envelopes, I've sandwiched them between cardboard, etc. Unless your mail carriers are rough, they shouldn't arrive any worse for wear or bent up just like the bills come nice and flat. :-) -TRW Crystal
@@TheRhinestoneWorld I'm making a vinyl decal that is 3 layers but not on top of each other but they overlap. So after I weed them I'll need a paper backing because the back that I weeded them off of won't cover all 3 staggered vinyl. 3 dogs .. 2 X 3 each but the whole decal is 4.5 x 6
Gotcha. I'll either save all of my backings and place my different sized item on top of that, then tape the paper backing so they don't shift, or I'll sacrifice something from my scrap pile that I know I won't use and take it's backing. I save my backings for larger decals for this reason as well, so I do have a small stash of them at the ready. Or - you can place it on parchment paper. NOT wax paper. Parchment. Not much at all sticks to that wonderful stuff, so you might want to fully wrap the decal in a piece so it doesn't shift off in ship. -TRW Crystal
Is it possible to make stickers with raised detail? I want to vynal wrap over them and still be able to see details in the middle and not just the outside edge.
Welcome to the Crew! We love sharing tips and tricks, you'll find so many more on our channel, and we're here if you have questions as well! -TRW Crystal

Can this be done for htv? Or is there a way to make multi color vinyl without having to iron them on? Meaning to give someone just the htv with design?
They can all be cut and weeded then given in pieces for the someone to layer themselves with heat one at a time (and with instruction). Other than that no, there's no easy way to accomplish that one. -TRW Crystal

Olá! Sabe me dizer como faço esse mesmo processo de camadas em vinil transfer, antes de estampar???
For HTV you'll cut all of your colors one by one, then place the bottom layer on the shirt, a fast 5 second tack press, peel carrier, then do the same with the next layers until you reach the last one. Full press at the end.

If I want to make a window decal and mail it ... what do I put on the back of the vinyl to protect it ? It will have the carrier sheet on the front ?
A rhinestone decal, or just an adhesive vinyl decal? I've mailed adhesive vinyl decals all sorts of ways and they all made it just fine. Bubble envelopes, manilla, letter envelopes, I've sandwiched them between cardboard, etc. Unless your mail carriers are rough, they shouldn't arrive any worse for wear or bent up just like the bills come nice and flat. :-)

Is it possible to make stickers with raised detail? I want to vynal wrap over them and still be able to see details in the middle and not just the outside edge.
Raised like Brick? Or layer the same vinyl multiple times yes, possibly... But air bubbles will need careful attention. -TRW Crystal
@@TheRhinestoneWorld thanks.
can this same technique be used with vinyl on tshirts? This is genius
Yes, you can layer vinyl on t-shirts! Although, we don't recommend using Glitter HTV.

Now how do I align cause I'm super bad!!
Try using registration marks on each layer as a guide or our parchment paper trick! See what I mean at the 3:37 mark in this other video of ours: ruclips.net/video/DVBI2DSk4VI/видео.html -TRW Crystal

Thanks for watching Susie mills!
