  • In this Silhouette Studio tutorial, we go through the steps needed to turn a plain image into a multi layered decal (cut file). I've found that the coloring pages from Creative Fabrica work perfectly for this project!
    You can grab this file here ⬇️
    www.creativefa...
    and follow along, then practice on the other images in the bundle!
    We're going to go through the trace panel, the color fill panel, editing points, release compound path, and more.
    I cut the vinyl out on my Silhouette Cameo 5, and then place the decal on my Portrait 4. If you have created your own multi layered decal, be sure to share it in the Facebook group!

    Thank you so much for the video, you rarely see a video on this subject. Knowing how to use those tools is a GAME changer. There are so many things you can do!

    Thank you! I learned so many tips from this, including things I knew how to do in other software but hadn't discovered in Studio. I will feel so much more comfortable transforming images now.
    As for putting all the little scraps onto the mat to cut once, its such an obvious, common sense thing when pointed out, but I know I would have been laboriously cutting each color on separate passes, had you not shown us how to do it in one pass!
    I am curious to know how well the layered vinyl holds up over time or does it start to delaminate after a while? Layering is something I've been very tentative about doing, but this tutorial gives me so much more confidence in doing it well.

    You got me with “measure once, cuss twice”. 😂😂😂😂 And, yes, parchment paper is definitely a sanity saver when it comes to lining up the layers. As always, great and informative content!❤

      😂😂 I hate when I do stuff like that, but I still won't measure twice.

    Thank you!!! This solved SO MANY things I couldn't figure out how to do!
    What force and speed do you use? You mentioned using a depth of 2 but i was curious on the Force and speed.

    Hi Brenda, Silhouette program is such a great tool, I have done this sort of thing with flowers and images too, but it's always nice to watch you explain things in your video's, TFS, Cheers Anna.

    I’ve been looking at getting into vinyl cutting for a year now. This video is exactly what I needed to see for the Studio software interface. It is just like Corel Draw that I’ve used for years. Thanks

    Fabulous tutorial. I have used the rulers previously when creating but did not think to use them when laying pieces out for cutting on the mat, keen to try this now. Also the parchment paper trick, I don't do much vinyl work but I can see it working on a few of my cardstock projects. Thank you for your time and knowledge!

      Thank you! I can't seem to line layers up without parchment paper anymore. It always sticks before I want it to. Let me know how it works with the cardstock projects!

    Thank you so much for sharing your infinite Silhouette knowledge! I can never get the tracing correct!

      I've found that the trace usually works best if I don't mess with the settings too much. I usually just draw the box and hit trace, then if that didn't work, I'll adjust what I need to.

    Does the select by colour option comes in the basic version of silhouette studio

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  Месяц назад

      Yes, it does. Look for a paint palette icon at the top of the screen. That is select by color. You can also find it in the Panels tab at the top.

    What version of Silhouette Studio are you using? Can we do this in basic?

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  3 месяца назад

      I'm running Business Edition, but I think all of these steps can be done in Basic! I did a quick review of the video, and I didn't see anything that would require the upgrade.

    Newbie... how did you command each color vinyl to cut on the same matte.

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  11 месяцев назад

      Whatever you place on the design mat will cut exactly where you put it. I just placed the different colors of vinyl in the corresponding spots on the cutting mat.

    This is great. I’ve been trying to do this with a picture I drew and took a snapshot of it. I have been unsuccessful so far. I will try this technique and if I do succeed I will post it to your facebook group. I do not see a link to your facebook group. 🤔 Found the link!😁👍
