Your Silhouette tutorials are my absolute favorites because of your clarity of knowledge, your easy and cheerful demeanor, and the way you break down each subject per video. Again, I appreciate you!
You've answered my prayers Becky, after years of ignoring it or struggling with it I now have a much better understanding of the compound path tool, thank you so much. Please keep your videos coming!
I love understanding each step instead of trying to just follow along copying steps. Releasing/making compound paths was something I did not understand as a Cricut-er with design space being my most used designing app. Now that I’m learning to make my own Svg files for my Glowforge machine that’s on it’s way, it’s really important to me to understand each term/tool in silhouette studio. I’ve watched many of your videos since starting to learn this new software a week ago and I just wanted to say, yet again, you nailed exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for being so thorough and explaining it in a way that anyone with different levels of experience can understand. Thanks for making these videos
Becky! I love this video and gained a very good knowledge of these tools and concepts. I backed it up for replay several times throughout and made notes. I have played with the compound path tool but never really understood what was happening to my objects. Now I do! I love your closing statements on not being afraid to experiment and play around with these tools in the software. I totally believe, too, that the only way to grasp it is to DO it. Thank you!
I wish I had found you back when I was new at this. I struggled and struggled. You make it look so simple (relative term!). Thanks for the information~
Becky, you are awesome! I recently bought a Silhouette Portrait 3 and have watched several of your videos. What a fun experience! You make everything so straightforward and easy to understand. Thank you!
HI Becky another great video and explanations. I have already experienced some of the errors you explained. Still struggling and your videos are great teachers.
As usual you take me to another level of designing. I never really understood the compound path thing and learned by making mistakes. Now I know Why. Thank you so much for your clear and understandable explanation. Amazing as usual.
I was trying to follow along in several of your videos by pausing and going to studio to work along. It was very frustrating trying to find some of the paths needed to do this. I then read another comment here that had the same problem with a response that some paths would only be in the upgraded editions. It would be nice to know in your title WHICH version you are using so it's not so confusing when trying to work along with you. Otherwise I really like the in-depth way you present. My Cameo Pro4 just came today and I'm excited to get to use it. I have a Cricut Expression but decided to switch to Silhouette and everything is sooooo different!!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I apologize for any confusion that may have caused while trying to follow along with our videos. It's important to make sure that the information provided is clear and accurate, especially when it comes to software versions. In the future, I will make sure to indicate the specific version of the software I am using in the title of my videos, to make it easier for users to follow along. I'm glad to hear that you're excited to use your new Cameo Pro4 and I understand that switching to a new software can be a bit challenging at first but with time and practice you will get used to it. I appreciate your feedback and will continue to work on improving the quality of my videos to make them as helpful as possible for users. If you have any other concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. - Agata
Hello Becky, Most of the time I can hear you but there are times when your volume could be higher. I'm going to school to get my degree in Cinematography and I use this mic very easy to use once you set it, If you film the same location you don't have to mess with it. Movo WMX-1-DUO 2.4GHz Dual Wireless Lavalier Microphone System 179.00 now that's for two wireless mics and one receiver I love mine. it works with everything. Besides that love the videos.
Thanks Cory, I have upgraded my microphone since I first started doing videos, so that is probably some of the discrepancy you are hearing. I greatly appreciate your help though, I can tell this comes from a place of positivity. ---Becky
Omg, I feel so dumb not knowing this before but also glad that I do now. Thank you so much, Becky! Now I have a question can I do that to an entire design without having to pick it apart?
Hi there! You can, but the larger the design the more amounts of nodes it will have. Don't forget about the simplify option to make it easier for your machine to cut! - Dawn 🙂
Thanks for the information. I have a question about this for you. If I needed to make a shape have an indent such as a square with a smaller square inserted to create the indent how do I make that using this feature?
hi becky. can you help me make a video or explain to me how to fix something? i bought an svg of a pumpkin so it has all the lines and the face. But when i turn it into a compound path so that i can cut or draw it, the lines from the pumpkin now combines with the face so the lines now shows up on the face. i don't know how to remove the line from the face unless i erase it but the erase tool is hard to control.
Hey Lee, I'm not sure what you mean by slicing text? Slice is usually a term I hear for Cricut Design Space, but Silhouette Studio doesn't have slice. ---Becky
I watch all these videos to find the answer to one question - I do all the fonts and letters in photoshop, my problem is, how to have cutline that enables me to pull off a complete word from the backing paper and not individual letters......or any other group of Elements that I do not want to manually arrange piece by piece?
why dont i see the tab you used to make the star when i use my silhouette studio? i have a cameo 4 and that tab would definitely help me out alot. Help
Hey there! Sorry for any confusion! The start is part of the Flexishapes and that feature is unlocked when you upgrade to either the Designer Edition Plus or Business Edition. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I am trying to make a sticker png/jpeg and once I get my layered colors I want and I make it a compound path the colors go away. I want to make it a compound path/one shape but keep the colors I've chosen. Is there something I am missing?
I'm considering switching from crixut DS to silhoutte my issue is this & I did download free basic of silhoutte just to mess around see if its to complicated. Say in DS I have a rose its red, with black outline throughout. I wana layer it black and then red. Basically I upload it would choose complex & delete all the red save it, upload again delete all the black then is DS id cut each separate. How does one do that in silhoutte. Is it possibly? Am I making sense ?
Hey Robynia, absolutely! You are going to want to work on the tracing feature. Silhouette Studio does not have an automated feature like Cricut Design Space for doing this during the upload process. You will import the image, then trace the areas that you need to separate. I have two videos that I think will be helpful for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky ruclips.net/video/bUEzjsGJ9qQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/NmtmMle2LcQ/видео.html
Hey Nancy! I have a video that will help you turn off that feature, I'll link it below. But in the meantime, you just have to click back up to your "select" cursor (the top of your left-hand toolbar). Hope this helps! ---Becky ruclips.net/video/-PBcaRAAUak/видео.html
@@DesignBundles TY yes yes,,,now I want to upgrade and bought the 25.00 upgrade the number that was provided it telling me it is invalid...I reached out via email to silhouette America with no response ..any other way to reach them....my unit is registered..ty
Hey Sonya, for most projects, it will be the same. There will be a few differences, so just knowing that the two are similar but not exact is enough to help you out. For example, if you have overlapping objects that aren't completely on top of each other, then the two tools will work differently. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I'm more confused now than before the tutorial. Maybe cause I don't know silhouette enough and you were clicking on somethings that I don't even know where you were clicking.😏

I still don't understand how Make a Compound Path is different/preferable to Modify -> Subtract, which is in the same panel.
