Becky, you are truly the best teacher on Silhouette. You are so clear, explicit, direct to the point, and cover the most important topics. I learn so much with you. From the bottom of my heart : a warm thank you. Merci !
I use the layering all the time on tumblers, but I’ve never been able to remember how to do make curved text. My mind was blown by how simple your explanation was! I’ve had my Cameo 3 & Cameo 4 for years, but I’ve been too intimidated by the software to actually use them. Your tutorials are a Godsend for me! Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!!❤️❤️❤️
Just want to let you know that you are an excellent teacher for people that get these machines as gifts and have no idea how to make it work or make it do what we want once we do! So far the scoreboard is machine 5 woman 2. THIS is about to change right quick after watching your different videos!
Me too, I just got a cameo 4 and I'm lost most of the time and don't know what to do, but with her videos it's much easier to understand all those features.
I totally agree with you. I'm a visual and auditory learner but some voices do distract me a lot, hers it's pleasant to listen to and she knows what she's doing.
Love this video, wish there was a way to slow..slow...slow down parts of this video to follow along with it. Just learning studio...these really help a lot.
I agree I've only had my Silhouette Cameo 4 days 😢 and I'm about ready to return it because this is a big learning curve and it's hard to follow. Especially the curving. I cannot get to the EDIT to get the little black round circle to get the font to curve. I got the circle but DOUBLE CLICKING DOES NOT BRING UP THAT LITTLE ROUND BLACK CIRCLE. SO FRUSTRATED with this and other cutting issues and I have the Cameo 4 and it was $367.00 way to much to not be able to get it to work correctly. Thinking of sending it back & getting my money back.
I've used my cameo for years and have the 1st machine....ive just upgraded to cameo 4 so thought I'd watch upgrading videos and your showing me things I didnt even know.....thankyou
Thank you so much for all your tuto videos! I am new to silouhette just getting the cameo 5 (not yet arrived) so in the meantime was looking at the studio basic software to get used to it and realised I need to train myself to use and do things and found your tuto videos and I am so grateful for all the work and time you put into to it and share with all !!!! Thank you
Love your videos, but if you do more, does your software have a mouse highlighter? Sometimes you move REALLY fast, and it's hard to see where you're at before you're moving someplace else. But am learning so much from you, so thank you!
I really enjoyed your video it was very helpful tips and easy to follow along with. Thank you so much for sharing really appreciate you being here specially for people who are new to Silhouette Studio like me.
Thanks so much. I'm new to Silhouette Studio (I used Make the Cut for years, have been using DS lately but not thrilled with it). I hope I can ask this question so it makes sense. I'm making a cake topper and using her name as the focal point. I also need a solid larger outline of the name to glue the cut name to. I used Donkey Stone font for the letters (they did not touch - I did than on purpose). I used offset but that put the offset around each individual letter. I couldn't figure out how to have a solid offset that would still follow the letter's shape. So I used the offset with the holes from the letters and put circles over the holes and welded them to the offset shape. This worked for I wanted to know if there's a feature I could have used to do this or and easier way, etc. Thanks so much.
Hi Cathy! You can increase the size of the offset when you click the button there will be a sliding scale which you can increase to have the offset be the entire size of the word! - Dawn 🙂
I fell so much more informed about text now. Thank you🙌🏽. One suggestion is highlighting your cursor I saw that in one video if made all the difference. ❤️
Becky, I love your teaching style. I am confused on one point however. When you are doing that outside edge one (green) You click at one point and say "I use a nice green color and take that off" What are you taking off? I have watched repeatedly and that point has me stumped. (brand new to Silhouette, sorry if you need to hold my hand!) I really do appreciate your teaching and your videos. Thank you!
Great question and I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I am usually talking about the red line color, for some reason it really bugs me to leave it on and I remove it for the majority of my designs (it's just a visual thing for me). Hope this helps! ---Becky
Awesome video... THANK YOU !!! One thing I am confused about or wanna be sure on.... When you add the outline it will cut this way? You still have to layer it by hand for this look correct?
LOVE your teaching method. I pick up helpful procedures every video. Maybe just a little feedback, slow the mouse down a bit so we can see what you are selecting? I have had to pause and rewind 10 to 12 times on this video alone to see what you actually selected. But once I see, I pick up the skill quickly. Keep being amazing.
this was so helpful! Do you have any pointers on having the trace line slightly inside of the font to help avoid an white outline? Im having problem with my colorful text having the outline after cutting even though im not offsetting the letters😭😫
Hey Ashleigh! You can certainly make a small internal offset (look for the Offset Panel and there is one at the top for internal). OR, you can turn on the Print Bleed setting and Silhouette Studio will create a thin border around your text to match the pattern/color and prevent that white line. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Love the helpful videos but I do have a question about the bottom layering which you left white and it’s a bolder outline..with htv when you cut it will it cut the outside and then weed the inside of the letters so the shirt shows through? Example if you cut layering in white htv and place on black shirt black would show through the letters? New to making t-shirts
Hi Bec! I am new in your Chanel, and a newbie in silhouette. I’m trying to do the layering and change color to two different colors like you do, and it’s quite hard for me, sometimes it is can be done, and sometime no. I am very confused how did you do that. Help.
I know I am late to this video. But I just got cameo 4. Some of my text will give me the icon to attach them to a curve but others won't. What am I doing wrong? Love coming to your videos to learn and get better!!
Thanks so much for your kind words, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that you can't curve text after you have welded, ungrouped, etc. It has to still be in the text editing format. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi there! Are you looking to create a shadow effect with the text? Could a shadowed font work for your project like this for example: fontbundles.net/plusstore/1621274-just-shadow-a-shadow-only-display-craft-font#gtmList=5>mPos=5&aaQ=1991ad009a1163ad5ae91d57e8695071&aaI=product_trending ?
Becky your vids have helped so much, however, I really need to use outer edge on this project and no matter what I do, no matter how slow I listen to your video, my outside lines do not color in. I'm going crazy. Any advice?
Great tutorial. Thank you. By the way, do you know how to upgrade my Silhouette Studio? I have the very basic one or because I have a Japanese version, I dont have some of the fonts like you do. So, what kind of font style should I be searching when I want to cut out letters but I dont want the big "A" or small "a" or "p" middle part to be cut out yet attached? (does it make sense?) Thank you.
For the fonts you will want to purchase them on a website such as fontbundles.net 😊 The version of your silhouette does not have anything to do with the fonts you have.
I am really enjoying your videos thank you, but I have to ask as I hate using rolls. Where oh where did you get those 12x12 racks that hold all of your sheets?
Hey Horde! I found those racks on eBay searching for scrapbook paper racks. I'll be honest, the shipping is outrageous because they ship as one piece, and sometimes your vinyl will get caught on the racks in the back. They are pretty for display, but you just have to be careful sliding your vinyl in and out. Hope this helps! ---Becky
you are the best teacher - is there a way in silhouette to make an offset or shadow on a word that isn't the same all the way around? in other words it is more of a shadow than offset
@@DesignBundles I knew you would know the answer to my question! thanks so much!!! game changer info. Now i just have to locate which button is the shadow icon.
Hi Cherie! You can find this in the image effects panel which is on the right, it would be the circle which is half black and white, then click the pentagon on the end, this is the shadow icon :)
i just recently purchased the cameo 4 plus, now when i upload my image, i set it to cut, but when i hot send i get a message saying my cut lines are overlapping? 2nd. question how do i prevent my blade from cutting on mat? i measured my vinyl on the mat and entered the measurements on my silhouette, however my blade is still cutting outside the cut area and not staying on the vinyl. what am i doing wrong.... by the way i appreciate your content very motivational and educational..
@Design Bundles I'm sure everyone already knows this but, in basic edition can I type Welcome and them cope the word and now change the copied version to Home? When I attempt the only thing I seem to be able to do is delete letters
Hey Jamillah! Do you mean when I talk about a directional arrow on my keyboard? It's just the up / down / left / right arrows. Sorry if I made that confusing! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Hello! No I was referring to the circle in the corner that you hover over than drag words to a shape. I watched several times last night and somehow got it to work
Hello Ms Becky. LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos, have learned so much from them! Just one thing tho. I have design edition, paid for and registered, BUT there are several features you mention and are listed on silhouette website as part of my edition to be activated when upgrade and registered. BUT I still can not get the multiple knives, eraser or able to save to sgv??? I have uninstalled and installed several times... and written the company.. but nothing yet. SUGGESTIONS?
Hey Donna, I know that saving as an SVG is a Business Edition upgrade, is it possible you have upgraded to Designer Edition first? Also, did you activate your key code through the software again, just in case it removed itself somehow? That has happened to me before, and I simply re-entered my code and it added back all the features. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi Becky, This is my second video I have watched of yours all I can say is WOW WOW WOW, I have learnt a lot, I might not remember it all but I know were to go to find the info. TFS, Cheers Anna.
Hi Becky, First of all thank you sooooo much for all the awesome and so helpful videos because I was so lost with my cameo before I found you on here. But I am having an issue making the curve text work. I double clicked and it is just not attaching to my oval shape like yours does on this video. I was wondering if you had any ideas as to why its not working? I do have business edition of silhouette studio and I have the latest update already installed. I have the cameo 3 and I have been using this software etc for almost 2 years now so I am pretty familiar with most of it.
Hey Danielle! Thank you so much for your kind words, I am glad to hear the videos are helpful. Just off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of is to make sure you are using that little compass icon after double-clicking your text. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundlesI LOOOOVE YOU VIDEOS But I'm so frustrated with this silhouette program, compass 🧭 icon will not show up with a double click, I've rewind over and over trying to see how to get the font to the edit stage. Can you please tell me how to get to that?
Hi, I like very much your videos. I have a questions which software of silhouette do you have, Basic, Designer or Business? I have Designer and don't have some features that you have.
Hey Lucy, thanks for your kind words. I do have the Business Edition, which if I remember this video correctly, will matter in regards to using the warp feature, but the other text effects should be fine for Designer Edition. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Cory, it depends to be honest. Sheets are great for storage, they take up much less space and are very affordable. Rolls are great for bulk cutting or longer projects, and ultimately are even cheaper than sheets if you use one color a lot. Hope this helps! ---Becky
How do you curve a text WITH an offset? (Two offsets actually). If I group, then I can't edit. If I try without, it only grabs the original text. Thanks!

---Becky
@@DesignBundles Thanks for your answer. Blessing!!!
You explain things very well; however, it's a little too fast for a newbie. Do you have newbie only verions?
Hi Loreena - Unfortunately we don't have them at this minute
Becky, I have a question for you. Do you think I should be buying all my vinyl by the sheet, rather than getting it by the roll.
Hey Cory, it depends to be honest. Sheets are great for storage, they take up much less space and are very affordable. Rolls are great for bulk cutting or longer projects, and ultimately are even cheaper than sheets if you use one color a lot. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great video! Thank you!
Thanks you Sandra! ---Becky
How do you curve a text WITH an offset? (Two offsets actually). If I group, then I can't edit. If I try without, it only grabs the original text. Thanks!
