I met Goerge at a show at Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston in late 2003.Lynch Mob just finished and George was in the audience. Before I could approach George, George approached me and I was pleasantly surprised. He asked me if I saw his set and I told him that YES I DID!!! And it was fantastic. He then asked me about the sound that Lynch Mob was given out front. I did go on to,tell him about what I heard and noticed about the sound and he seemed thankful for my intel and appreciation. He was very polite and I introduced him to my guitarist at the time, Mr. Rusty Cooley. He said he had already heard about Rusty and I introduced them I believe they had met before. But I must say that George has always been a huge part of my musical life. He is one of my top 5 most favorite guitarists of ALL TIME!
Thank you George for everything Brother. I really am thankful for you and your music Sir.
    Bless you,

As a teen, I wore out Dokken cassettes in my car as well as the old double speaker "boom boxes" as they were called....... Fast forward 30 years I had a life saving surgery in 2019, it was a monster of an experience. a few months later I was still in recovery mode and a friend of mine bought me a ticket to see Blandini that was featuring George Lynch and spent an extra $100 on me so we could have a meet and greet after the show (mistake)............ We were made to stand outside of the shuttle bus outside for almost 1 hour, I was getting really uncomfortable given my condition (to be fair it isn't like anyone could've known that or would care at the venue).......... We were finally told we could enter the bus if we wanted to. Mr. Lynch was seated at the front of the shuttle and he was drunk still drinking beer from a plastic cup. (again it was 2019, he claims he doesn't drink today, perhaps not?)......I won't go into the words said that night but George Lynch "drunk" is a smartass100%, I quickly realized it wasn't worth the time I waited...It wasn't my fault Lynch couldn't talk loud enough to be heard that evening......... Jeff Blando was exceptionally nice but I wasn't familiar with him, only learning he was Vince Neal's guitarist the day of the show, I am not a Motley fan, not even as a kid so,,, OK.............It's strange but that experience changed everything about me hearing Dokken music. I've been told it isn't always a good decision to meet the people you're a fan of for their talent because the "person" may not be a personality you'd expect. I now understand.......... I tolerated the show, thought it was cool being in a small venue seeing George Lynch, but looking back truly it was a mediocre show at best.

George Lynch is 70!! Holy sh!t!! He has kept himself in great shape. Back in the 80's I had a huge love of Dokken because of George's insane playing and tone. He had his time as my favorite guitar player. I remember reading a Guitar World magazine article about George, and I remember it described George something like he stalked the stage like a praying mantis which I thought was so cool. No one played like him. Truly a legend. Really great interview. So cool to hear George's thoughts about Edward. You can obviously see a great love and respect George had for him.

Great interview. I always was impressed with George's solo work on the Hear-n-Aid song. I'm a diehard Yngwie fan have been forever and he killed it on that record, but holy shit did George kill it also. He was on fire for that. One cool thing is both of them are known for improving their solos. They just get a feel for the song and then they both let it rip and man you can feel it. SO much better then guys that try to work a solo out note for note before recording. Back then EVERYONE was a little intimidated by Yngwie, but clearly George wasn't. 😂

My opinion is Mr. Lynch was and is as good in his own way as any other guitarist I have been a fan of and listened to. Sometimes he knows how good he is and knows how to tell you why, sometimes he is humble. I like these interviews, he is still bright, smart and full of life. Glad he is still making music and doing good in his life. I don’t know him personally but I do like rock stars, they are so cool and they make me laugh, especially the wild and crazy stories. Some stories maybe shouldn’t be retold, I do have friends in the business. I have seen some crazy stuff back in the days when the big rock bands came through, working security in the big city. Rock stars to me are some of the most honest people and generous people on the planet, normally a breath of fresh air in my world when I am hanging with one sharing stories.

Excellent interview! George has been one of my favorite players since the 80's. I met him at the Rickshaw theater here in Vancouver, after a Lynch mob show years ago, at the merch table. As he signed my Randy Rhoads book, I said Thank you very fucking much for Mr. Scary. He said- that was inspired by Randy. I said- I know! Nice, cool, soft spoken guy. And a Monster guitar player. He's one of the greats.

What kills ME about George Lynch was how physically big he got in the 90s the guy was ripped and he became this big moutain biker, and could still shred like no one, in many ways seemed he was trying to distance himself from that 80s Sunset strip scene, so glad George is still active and still one of the top shredders still out there.

There’s interviews where he talks about that time. His kids were into bodybuilding and he got into it. He readily admits to using steroids. He says they messed him up and he regretted it. He’s a great guy and one of my favorite guitarists.

He seems like a great guy, I’ve never gotten to see him and he’s doing the last tour. I hope I can make a show, he’s in my top 5 of the best in my lifetime easily.

George is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. I saw Dokken open for Aerosmith New Year's Eve at the Worcester Central in Massachusetts And I caught one of George's guitar picks it had a skull and crossbones and on the other side it said George says have a nice day and unfortunately my sister threw out all my memorabilia that I had stored at the family home I've gotten several guitar picks from some of my favorite guitars in the world and that one hurt bad George was a huge influence on me in the '80s I had just gotten my first guitar and I wanted to be a mix of him and Eddie Van Halen I never accomplished either but lol. I'm still really bummed out about my sister tossing out all of my memorabilia collection. From guitar picks and autographs, concert shirts, ticket stubs and photos. George's guitar pick was the first one I had ever caught at a show it was very sentimental

Only a few guys in the world can play and you know who it is right away. George is one of those guys. He has his own voice. To me, most players all sound alike. George has a one of a kind vibrato that I think was better than Eddie’s. Wow, almost 70. I remember in 1984 I would come home from work and play for hours and hours. Eventually I could play most of the leads on Tooth and Nail. George Lynch= one of the greats.

Thanks for the Great Interview, it was very intersting for me.I' am from Germany.I saw Dokken two times live in 1986 if they supporting Accept here in Germany. Dokken was amazing and blew Accept off the Stage. Accept was a great Band, but it was true.
At that Time only 3 Rock Guitar Players are important for me to this Day.
Gary Moore, Eddie Van Halen, George Lynch.
I saw Van Halen seven Times between 1978 and 2004 and have still the Tickets. I was 15 Years old as i saw Van Halen in 1978 at the Hemmerleinhalle in Neunkirchen near Nürnberg. It was a 6 Hour Car Drive from my Hometown. 3 Black Sabbath Fans are in the Car...nobody knows Van Halen. I was the only Van Halen Fan, have the Van Halen Record a few Month before this Show.
The Sabbath Fans are all at the age between 20 and 28 Years and they annoy me the hole Time...Who is Van Halen? Can they play? Sabbath forever.
Van Halen starts the Show with on Fire. A 40 Minutes Gig. Van Halen make no Prisoners. For me it was stunning. That was my feel in 1978, because i was 15 Years old.
Looking back i can say this Van Halen Gig was like to hear the first Van Halen Record plus 20 % more Tone, Feeling, Soul, Poison, Aggressiv, Rhythm, Technical in a very unique Way.
Black Sabbath starts the Show, it was like i shift from the sixth gear into the first gear.
After 3 or 4 Songs Ozzy left the Stage and Sabbath play a short Gig.
Back in the Car we all talk about Van Halen, nobody talks about Black Sabbath.
And the Driver from the Car makes me an offer. If we back Home and you loan me your Van Halen Record you don't pay Gasoline.
    I said..ok.
Black Sabbath was a Great Band, but at that Time...

George is the shit, his life achievements are second to none, and he's still pumping stuff out. A different style, different writing, but all are very cool in their own way. Cheers 🍺🍺🍺

Great interview Jeff, George seems like a great grounded human that is equal to his amazing guitar playing and I love that he is a total gear head that also confirmed the Marshall 4x12 loaded with 2 Celestion 25 watt Greenbacks and 2 JBL D120F’s and he’s right about that combination with the right head is the sound of early VH depending how you dial the head in, but it is also not the only most important part of the equation in that Ed’s hands and feel played the most important part of the equation. For me getting that amp and cabinet sound of his correct has always been about if I hit an open D flat and open G flat together I want that grind or if I hit a drop D flat that becomes a C flat I want that chug that feels like it’s falling apart for my own rig , whether I was playing our original music in Bar7 or when I played the Tesla stuff with Jeff Keith. My point is that sound works for me no matter what or who’s music I need to play. To me it’s like a race car, for what’s going to be most fun and comfortable for me to drive while it’s on fire and coming apart at the seams. Jose Arredondo used to let me play and test drive any head came in after he worked on it. I played Ed’s Holy Grail head, George Lynch’s, Warren Di Martinis , Angus Young’s, John Sykes, Steve Vai’s , Steve Stevens, the list goes on and the one thing I learned was that none of them had a ton of gain and they all had articulated string separation but they did have that sizzle. Anyways, great episode as always

Wow pretty cool about playing all those amps!

    • @vonzombo2354
      @vonzombo2354 11 месяцев назад

It was an experience that I appreciate way more now looking back than at the time when I was young and dumb and didn’t really have a clue as to how special it actually was. And the one thing I cannot express enough is that all of those amps being so loud when you first struck a chord that it initially scared you because it shook the walls of ARRCO electronics and it was super loud and way cleaner and was distorting from the power tubes and speaker distortion rather than an over saturated fizzy preamp style distortion and that seemed to be the key for cutting through the mix and that’s when I learned to really to cut the pre amp and gain as much as I could on any amp I played I played live or in the studio including the amps Jose worked on for me. Love your channel Jeff!
