I met Goerge at a show at Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston in late 2003.Lynch Mob just finished and George was in the audience. Before I could approach George, George approached me and I was pleasantly surprised. He asked me if I saw his set and I told him that YES I DID!!! And it was fantastic. He then asked me about the sound that Lynch Mob was given out front. I did go on to,tell him about what I heard and noticed about the sound and he seemed thankful for my intel and appreciation. He was very polite and I introduced him to my guitarist at the time, Mr. Rusty Cooley. He said he had already heard about Rusty and I introduced them I believe they had met before. But I must say that George has always been a huge part of my musical life. He is one of my top 5 most favorite guitarists of ALL TIME!
Thank you George for everything Brother. I really am thankful for you and your music Sir.
    Bless you,
    DD

As a teen, I wore out Dokken cassettes in my car as well as the old double speaker "boom boxes" as they were called....... Fast forward 30 years I had a life saving surgery in 2019, it was a monster of an experience. a few months later I was still in recovery mode and a friend of mine bought me a ticket to see Blandini that was featuring George Lynch and spent an extra $100 on me so we could have a meet and greet after the show (mistake)............ We were made to stand outside of the shuttle bus outside for almost 1 hour, I was getting really uncomfortable given my condition (to be fair it isn't like anyone could've known that or would care at the venue).......... We were finally told we could enter the bus if we wanted to. Mr. Lynch was seated at the front of the shuttle and he was drunk still drinking beer from a plastic cup. (again it was 2019, he claims he doesn't drink today, perhaps not?)......I won't go into the words said that night but George Lynch "drunk" is a smartass100%, I quickly realized it wasn't worth the time I waited...It wasn't my fault Lynch couldn't talk loud enough to be heard that evening......... Jeff Blando was exceptionally nice but I wasn't familiar with him, only learning he was Vince Neal's guitarist the day of the show, I am not a Motley fan, not even as a kid so,,, OK.............It's strange but that experience changed everything about me hearing Dokken music. I've been told it isn't always a good decision to meet the people you're a fan of for their talent because the "person" may not be a personality you'd expect. I now understand.......... I tolerated the show, thought it was cool being in a small venue seeing George Lynch, but looking back truly it was a mediocre show at best.

He had his time as my favorite guitar player. I remember reading a Guitar World magazine article about George, and I remember it described George something like he stalked the stage like a praying mantis which I thought was so cool. There’s interviews where he talks about that time. His kids were into bodybuilding and he got into it. He readily admits to using steroids. He says they messed him up and he regretted it. He’s a great guy and one of my favorite guitarists.

@@warborn_inc.hope you didn’t think I was speaking ill of him. I was just commenting on some interviews I’d see. Who hasn’t done stuff we regret? He seems like a great guy, I’ve never gotten to see him and he’s doing the last tour. I hope I can make a show, he’s in my top 5 of the best in my lifetime easily.

I knew George Lynch a little because we had mutual friends and attended some of the same parties and I saw his band Exciter a bunch of times and still think he was one of the greatest guitarist ever .
Last time I saw him was in Knoxville TN and although I was kind of drunk I remember Dokken being very good .

Eddie put the time in instead of partying as a young teen he and his fretboard where one 😊as George said he played till it was in his bones we all chase that brown sound of the early Eddie but in reality he could play a fender vibro champ and still he was Eddie man in his bones it was all him all his dedication as a young boy until he was a teen and bamm ed was a self taught phucking animal he really did make it look easy when the first album was released i was blown away I grew up on the east coast so learning about Eddie didn't come till the first album never hurd of him and once I did I couldn't get enough ❤rip king you were one of a kind theres is a huge amount of unbelievable guitarist out there but there's only a couple handfuls of really outstanding in your face guitarists and its a shame more dont make it I still go out to small venues and we have a unlimited supply of guitarist now but only a few ever really stand our 😊eddy was that stand out .EVH the first 4 albums was the chitt VH2 WITH Sammy was good but I am still a VH1 fan boy.btw George is another animal. 😊

Lynch... was always my favorite guitarist in the 80's, despite my love for EVH & Randy... saw him a few times back then, including Monsters of Rock with VH, Metalica, Scorpions... Kingdom Come... and was that it? I can barely remember. That was at Giants Stadium in NJ

I've seen the Bomb Eddie had on stage with the Echo I actually sold him a Les Paul Jr i worked at "Guitar A Fire" and he gave me 10 passes to his show at "Golden West Ballroom" in Norwalk that blew my mind. I also remember groups using Mannequin's on stage for props
I was around when Ala carte was playing i knew all those guys Brian and Kevin even George when he was in the "Boys" and "Exciter"
I have recordings he did at Paul Ratazak studo at "The Recording Suite" a for song demo Back in the Day!

My opinion is Mr. Lynch was and is as good in his own way as any other guitarist I have been a fan of and listened to. Sometimes he knows how good he is and knows how to tell you why, sometimes he is humble. I like these interviews, he is still bright, smart and full of life. Glad he is still making music and doing good in his life. I don’t know him personally but I do like rock stars, they are so cool and they make me laugh, especially the wild and crazy stories. Some stories maybe shouldn’t be retold, I do have friends in the business. I have seen some crazy stuff back in the days when the big rock bands came through, working security in the big city. Rock stars to me are some of the most honest people and generous people on the planet, normally a breath of fresh air in my world when I am hanging with one sharing stories.

Excellent interview! George has been one of my favorite players since the 80's. I met him at the Rickshaw theater here in Vancouver, after a Lynch mob show years ago, at the merch table. As he signed my Randy Rhoads book, I said Thank you very fucking much for Mr. Scary. He said- that was inspired by Randy. I said- I know! Nice, cool, soft spoken guy. And a Monster guitar player. He's one of the greats.

Long ago I saw an interview of Don Dokken talking about first seeing Eddie in the early days. He was talking about the decision to make a living playing music, and when he saw Eddie he thought, "Well that's the end of THAT!" I had a similar experience when I saw a Russian classical guitarist, but a buddy I jammed with put an end to that kind of thinking when he said, "Bullshit! You can learn to play anything you really want to learn to play!" I realized he was right.
I always loved the way George played, the way he positioned himself like he was gonna hold that piece of ground no matter what. Honestly I preferred George's sound and style over anyone from that era, including EVH. Call me crazy, and no one can take anything from early VH, but look at what a stew pot VH was spooned up out from! The next fifty years of music was boiling up in that pot! People tend to forget that even Metallica and by default Megadeth were being seeded at that same time when Van Halen was plucked up and placed at the mic facing the world.
