I met him in '07, he was in town & needed his guitars (Brahma V & his Charvel Tiger) set up. A really nice guy who loved to talk gear. He was also a very humble, down to earth. I enjoyed our time together. I've met a lot of famous players who really disappointed me. George was the exception.
Fred for sure and more especially today with people. Growing up in the 60s & 70s was a great experience, and when the 80s style hard rock came around, Dokken was one of my main follows. Always enjoyed the intensity of George Lynch's amazing style, and it fed my love of guitars and playing. 58 yrs old this yr and I still can't get enough of hard rock lead guitar. I may never meet George but I am thankful for all he put forward for rock music & us musicians .
There is ALOT of great, fast, shredder, blahblah axemen out there. All over the world. GL is all that and GENIOUSLY harmonic with mesmerizing hooks that integrate Dons melodic vocals...all with perfectly voiced/phrased solos. The more I listen...the more GL seems otherwordly.
Great interview, Mitch Gallagher is a very good interviewer, very polite and humble and knowlegable. Like yolchie said, this is how an interview should be conducted. And on top of that George always great interviews and guitar clinics, my favourite guitar player, so when such guys team up this can not go wrong. Btw. Georges Tiger guitar became pretty roughed up by now:)
As others have mentioned, but worth repeating because it cannot be overstated, *fantastic interview ,Mitch & Team* Thank You Thank You! As a GL fan since Dokken came on the scene and watching their videos on Night Flight, I want to say 12:43 is a fantastic question! I swear that if I have/had ever the opportunity to meet GL, this is exactly what I would have asked him. Cheers!
George mentioned Mark Thompson and IMO he was at his best between Back for the Attack and up till the first few Lynch Mob albums..... the guy must have been a killer guitar teacher......
Mark Thompson aka PAUL GILBERT! I was at GIT, Gilbert was one of my Instructors, when Lynch secretly showed up at his apt. Gilbert divulged this private info after the fact. George has always been my favorite player
every time I think I can play real well.....I hear some one that is so much better than I am..its just disappointing....! I guess you never stop getting better....!
I love these videos. All of them. Not only a fan of Mr. Lynch, but the product demos and artist and technician interviews are very informative. Keep up the good work.
George looks rough here. He will always be the best in my book. I hope he just is tired in this interview. He is always creative and unique all the while sounding bad ass completely. Rock on king George!
george is a true master at his game, one of the best for sure, and most important . !! humble as well. yeah me and george on a paint project. i am no luthier either, but i have two i resored as well. on the strat style copy i am sure george would approve. . he is right no one starts of on top. you have to work your way there, and am sure he did a great job on restoring his house. great guy , george for sure, take care mate.
I have a total mancruch on Lynch, without a doubt one of my favorite guitar players of all time. Amazing talent. I have to add, in this vid he looks like as if Eddie Vedder and the homeless guy on the freeway on-ramp had a love child.
I really thought he had done the whole GIT/Berklee thing, its refreshing to know that he basically plays by ear, just shows that imagination and creativity can compensate for a lack of any formal training..
Almost met him! Saw him play (Electric Freedom) in Dallas. After the show waited around....met Don Dokken, but George had already left for Houston. ;-(
I had no idea warren and him switched bands thats funny as hell.just goes to show you sometimes where your at isnt such a bad place to be. But i guess when Ozzy calls, you gotta at least roll the dice, but in George’s case, there was a bigger fish in the sea. I heard George stole an old Marshall from Nikki Sixx, wonder if thats true.if so,Thats also funny as hell. Love George’s playing though, very creative.
I think it was fairly common back in the very early days of the LA metal scene before it hit the MTV scene. A good friend of mine got into building guitars and actually worked with Lynch's old guitar tech from the 80s - 90s. I believe the tech gifted him one of the original snakeskin no-name guitars. He may have bought it... IDK. The guitar was fully custom but it was may have been a Charvel. It was originally Lynch's, then back to Warren, and then back to Lynch. The stories over the years became so convoluted and because those guys in the early days were all close friends they would gift guitars that were not their prized-possesions. And, because it was a 2nd or 3rd made snakeskin there is not the heavy paperwork other than when Lynch got it back, and then he eventually gave it to his tech and then gave it to my buddy. The traveling snakeskin guitar.
Well, you can think whatever about my sexuality, but I don't understand your opinion that I'm trolling... truth is I'm a huge George Lynch fan, I think he's an amazing player.
I agree I mean George has always looked amazing for his age. Even at Dokkens height he was well into his 30's and early 40's with Lynch Mob. Certainly didn't look it. And even in recent years on some videos I've seen and on that metal show he looked great. But man he really looks like shit here! Maybe its the lighting or what have you. But honestly who cares. I know I'm not much to look at when I first wake up or hungover. And I'd be lucky if I look that good when I'm his age.
lol... yep, as a man, married to a very beautiful woman, the only way I can appreciate another mans talents is if I am to divorce her and start batting for the other team. Logic says this is the only way!
Ohhhh... ah, I get it, the political thing. Well, let's talk about this, what does his political point of view have to do with his talent or ability to play music? Why did you even feel a need to bring it up? My original comment was made with only the intention of expressing that point through sarcasm. Instead you call me gay. Which is interesting indeed.

I've been listening to George for 39 years...and I still can't get enough of his humility and talent!
The only guitarist I’ve ever heard that can hit totally fd up notes in a lead and make em work. 😳😎🎸👍❤️
George is just an incredible person - so well grounded, honest, humble, but uniquely talented. One of the greats, he's also very intelligent.
There is ALOT of great, fast, shredder, blahblah axemen out there. All over the world.

George Lynch is an awesome guy and one hell of a guitarist.

I got into George through KXM and I now really dig the Dokken album Under Lock and key. KXM is awesome as well. Great interview.
Listen to the first 2 Lynch Mob albums.....best Lynch guitar playing to my mind.
Brandon Bignall Got both as promo copies at some Metal Nigh. The local radio metal show would hand out CD's as you left the club.
Nope I bought them in the 90's.....I live in France and have seen George only twice. Once with Dokken and once with Lynch Mob in 92.
Hey Pssssst God doesn't exist...and anyway I would prefer to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I LOVE KINGSX AND DOKKEN, ESPECIALLY UNDER LOCK AND KEY!
Mitch a great interviewer you are!! props to you. great interview of a great guitarist
Thank you Sweetwater, great!
George looks rough here. He will always be the best in my book. I hope he just is tired in this interview. He is always creative and unique all the while sounding bad ass completely. Rock on king George!
Looks like they just went on camera w no makeup haha
seems like a really nice guy, thanks for this.

Fantastic interviewer! Keep up the great work!
58 years old and still inspires me!...........And always will! BTW, the original skull and bones guitar was a J. Frog, NOT ESP.
GREAT interview!! Thanks. :-)
Wow this was one of the most interesting interviews I've heard and only 63 comments
We had a GE console stereo too!
smart dude... and incredible player

Almost met him! Saw him play (Electric Freedom) in Dallas. After the show waited around....met Don Dokken, but George had already left for Houston. ;-(

The only reason George didn't get the gig with Ozzy is because Sharon and Ozzy didn't like George's haircut. FACTS!!
Why is George wearing a glove on his left hand?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Was it, like, 20 degrees inside ??
Well, you can think whatever about my sexuality, but I don't understand your opinion that I'm trolling... truth is I'm a huge George Lynch fan, I think he's an amazing player.
The longer I look at him in this interview the more I think of Robben Ford lol they look alike sort of
Is that Playboy Buddy Rose?
He's 58 year's old.
No, I don't know. Tell me more...
George Lynch is funny haha! "the boys" lol

Good lord has he aged a lot. I saw Dokken a few times in the 80's. Still love their music and always will.
Lol everyone has and does age. Never stop till your dust
He likes the sun.

lol... yep, as a man, married to a very beautiful woman, the only way I can appreciate another mans talents is if I am to divorce her and start batting for the other team. Logic says this is the only way!
Mitch Gallagher is looking like Seymour Duncan.
George looks a bit like actor Oliver Tobias. ruclips.net/video/9QG_RIAYZQk/видео.html
Shallow people are focusing on the meaningless like the surface of things!
I would eat that pork-chop!
mitch is hot great hair
'Looks like he combed his hair with a greasy pork-chop...
I want him to adopt me
LMFAO
Thirdgen83....You must not be a musician if that is all you took from this video...
...and when you get rich and famous, we can all watch you on youtube and give a crap about your political belief. ;)
Ohhhh... ah, I get it, the political thing. Well, let's talk about this, what does his political point of view have to do with his talent or ability to play music? Why did you even feel a need to bring it up?
My original comment was made with only the intention of expressing that point through sarcasm.
Instead you call me gay. Which is interesting indeed.
"I have certain political beliefs..." Yeah George, it's called left-wing LIBERAL.
It's mostly gay men that focus on appearance, you know!
