Can't get over just how fucking awesome Thrawn and Vader look in the Clone Wars style. They've seriously been working overtime upgrading whatever software they use to animate this, Vader looks almost photo realistic compared to how we saw him at the end of Clone Wars

      @JessAnderson1988 10 дней назад

@@saladspinner3200 Nah, it's still very much hand painted textures. It's just very detailed and subtle hand painted textures, where as the early clone wars days was more broad brush strokes. There's no photo realism here, and there never will be. Too expensive and time consuming, and the whole point of this animation art style is for every frame to look like a painting or a piece of concept art, not a realistic photo.

Greg mentioning that the Morgan story almost felt like she wasn't making choices was an interesting take on what appears to be the quick and easy path. I'm a big finale guy so ep6 was probably my favorite. I need to listen to the music when Bariss mentions an, "old friend," it did sound like a more recent version of Ahsoka's theme in your reaction. You could easily call that Ahsoka's theme when Bariss say's, "You've already done more than you should. Take what you've learned and pass it on," but it could easily be a coincidence.

I really like the last episode with the cave and bariss. Plus with how Lyn behaved. In her anger and fear, she may have killed someone who could have been a friend to her and the dark side, the power she thought would save her would have led to her destruction if she had continued to cling onto it. I'm not sure if bariss is alive or dead. When Lyn said she'll get barriss out of here, it may have just meant that she wasn't gonna let her die in the dark and I think either way works. These episodes were so good and the animation was so stunning with this art style

I'm starting to seriously wonder if Barriss survived.
Let's start with the fact that her story will definitely be continued because we need to show her transformation from a naive and inexperienced teenager to a calm, wise adult woman, and maybe even a master. We also know that she probably met with Ahsoka.
In this case, unfortunately, Barriss gets permanent plot armor, and that can't be changed.
If Barriss survives, that opens the door to many possibilities for both her and Lyn. From further cooperation with Ahsoka to theories involving Grogu and possible appearances in Mandoverce.
And to be honest, her survival would make the most sense out of all the characters who were stabbed in this way. She's a very experienced healer. I wouldn't be surprised if she could even use Lyn's Force abilities to heal herself. Additionally, it would be very symbolic.

    • @simonlaus3819
      @simonlaus3819 14 дней назад +4

She might survive actually. I don´t think they would end her story like that. Not after they just continued it after such a long time.
The only question is, what can we expect her story to be after this episode? Perhaps they will be running from the Empire together with Lyn and maybe she will reunite with Ahsoka?

As a Huge Fan of The Empire and The Inquistors, This is Exactly What I Wanted! Morgan Elsbeth is a Great Character and I Loved getting to see more of Her Backstory and More of Dathomir. Grievous Definitely Stole The Show in That Episode! He was Absolutely Badass!!! It was So Awesome to see Grievous be this terrifying monster and just go on a Rampage! I Like how each Episode was Named after the Four Things that Lead You to The Dark Side. Fear, Anger, Hate and Suffering. It was So Cool to see Thrawn in Clone Wars Style Animation! He's One of My Favorite Star Wars Characters and I Loved seeing Him recruit Morgan to The Empire. It really fleshes out Her Character So Well and makes Her a lot More Sympathetic. Also, It was Cool to see Rukh and Pellaeon Again! And I've been waiting to see what Happened to Barriss Ever Since The Clone Wars and I'm So Happy We Finally got to see it! Seeing The Grand Inquisitor in Clone Wars Animation was Also Awesome! And even though He was in One Scene, Vader was Still Absolutely Epic!!! And I Really Loved how Barriss' Arc was Handled In This Show. She was never Truly Evil, She was just disillusioned with The Jedi and thought that they had become corrupt. And Ultimately, She was right. So She never belonged with The Empire in the first place and I thought that That Arc was done Beautifully. And then at The End when She Confronted Lyn She had come Full Circle and She Died a True Jedi's Death. I thought it was a Great Redemption for Her Character. What a Great May The Fourth Present from Star Wars!!! Well Done Dave Filoni!!!

I used to have a whole Barriss cosplay in part inspired by her roles as a healer in the Legends EU so I was so pissed when Filoni did her dirty (I really think in some ways her general objections - minus the terrorism - should have been Ahsoka's reasons for leaving the Order instead of the stupid 'false accusation' plot, because her reasoning was correct) so I am really, really excited they brought that back in.
I really appreciate that they stayed in line with the fact that Barriss had moral oppositions to what the Jedi were doing BECAUSE she felt it was too close to the Dark side, so having her still try to stay true to that instead of just throwing in with the Inquisitors makes sense for where she's at. She doesn't trust the Jedi, but she doesn't trust the Empire either. I like exploring that several Jedi may have joined up initially out of confusion/fear but for at least some of them their teachings would have re-asserted themselves. Not all of them, of course.
That said I wish they had maybe explored her potential resentment over the fact that Luminara was willing to let her die in the name of the greater good but Anakin wasn't willing to let go. I also think it could have been interesting to explore more about the Jedi that might actually willingly decide to go with the Empire; either because they are misled about the Jedi, disillusioned about it, rationalize that they are just 'following orders' and serving the now legitimate government, or maybe just all along felt that might makes right and they should be in charge. They did go there a bit with Lyn but I guess wanted more than a short could give us!
I agree there was some missed potential with her history with Anakin. I feel like it's implied she recognized him (and vice versa), but like you say, there is baggage there.

Great points in the discussion! I didn't realize the similarity in perspective/setup for the third episodes. Morgan's arc being less about her decisions is interesting, and may actually parallel Lyn in that the feelings driving her were her master. In any case, I do appreciate Morgan more after this story. Barriss' episodes have been growing on me, though I still liked them initially.
I agree in liking this set more than Tales of the Jedi. It really works as a single progression across the six episodes: great character, action, visuals, music, etc.

This show does some great things.
    1. I love showing the size difference between the Clone Wars era capital ship (Venerator I think) and the Star Destroyers. I never realized how much bigger they were because they were always was on a scale I couldn't comprehend anyway.
    2. This show does what I hope future shows set during the Empire do. SHOW THE EMPIRE IN A BETTER LIGHT!!! This show does a great job showing that the Empire had potential to be a good and effective government but something was wrong with it. Thrawn explains it some but Bariss really gets it. She would have made an excellent Inquisitor. She understood what the use of power and intimidation was meant for and how it needed to be tempered with compassion and mercy. But something was wrong with the Empire. They pushed evil for the sake of evil. Honestly I think Bariss could have easily gotten away with killing the other Inquisitor because she was showing weakness by slaughtering innocent, starving civilians. I could hear Vader saying "Oh yes, they will fear you as much as the farmer that gathers his harvest. These people were as much of a threat to you as insects. You FOOL! Your actions show that you fear THEM! The true show of power would be to reward them for cooperating with the Empire, that even if they were made stronger they would still not pose a threat to you." It shows how the Empire was only a tool of Palpatine to obtain immortality. TLDR; The Empire and the Republic both failed for the same reason. Palpatine wouldn't allow them to be better.
There is a ton more but those two were my favorite.

Great reaction and observations, Greg and Mike. And, yes, I DO believe that Barriss Offee may still be alive, by the time of The Mandoverse. She'd be maybe just a year older than Ahsoka (who is around 45), so, if Lyn Rakish got her to capable medical attention, she could still be the Force Shaman she'd become, while in exile from The Empire. "The Way Out" short could very well be the intro to a Star Wars: The Hidden Path series. I truly believe that the concept of The (Hidden) Path was something entirely from Dave Filoni and George Lucas' minds...remember, Lucas co-wrote/created his yet-to-be-made 2010 ABC-TV live-action series, Star Wars: Underworld, and it depicted the early years of the stirrings of The Rebellion in the dominant shadow of The Galactic Empire. Who's to say that surviving Jedi and Force-sensitives aren't part of that story structure Lucas was building (he already sanctioned it in the Coruscant Nights trilogy of books, featuring Jax Pavan, a Former Jedi-turned-Private Investigator, living in the lower levels of Coruscant, after The Jedi Purge)? GIVE IT TO US! You know, Mike?: I think Thrawn's awareness that Lord Vader and Anakin Skywalker are one and the same, definitely colors his thinking and long-term plans...what with The Grysk and all in his far away galaxy. I believe Grand Admiral Thrawn intends to make The Remnant Empire an even more just, efficient government/military body. Now, when he finds out that Anakin Skywalker has fraternal twin offspring, who are both touched strongly by The Force...WOAH, NELLY!

I love what they did with Barriss in this, because at the root of her character Barriss was a healer, she wanted to help people, she cared about everyone, it's why she fell so hard.
She never should have been involved in the Clone Wars, seeing so much pain and dealing with so much indifference over that pain from the jedi who are supposed to be peace keepers and help and protect people broke her spirit.
Barriss never wanted to hurt people, she wasn't a warrior, she wanted to protect people, to help people.
I was hesitant to watch this series because i worried that they'd ruin Barriss, but they did well here, they made her understandable..
I was glad to see that she immediately turned against the Empire, because they are guilty of everything that turned her against the jedi made a thousand times worse.
I just wish there were more episodes.

It’s great cause it shows how empire can go either way. For example. If thrawn was the emperor. I believe the galaxy would have thrived. Becuae the empire was run by a sith it was evil and dark. I believe if thrown had conceived the empire it would have been a possible utopia. The Jedi didnt even research they assumed from the beggining the separatist were 100% evil but they were fighting the empire which in reality was corrupt from conception.

My theory why Bariss looks so old in the final episode, even though she's roughly the same age as ahsoka and the Empire is still around: she's known as a healer.. as stated in episode 9 the rise of skywalker, Rey heals the snake as well as Kylo Ren using Force Heal. Rey states that she transfers a little of her own life essence to help the other being. So if Bariss is known as a healer, she has given alot of her own essence to others thus aging faster than normal. And I am totally on board with my own theory. She gives back the life she once took from others during the bombing. It's her way of redemption.

I do think the final Barris episode is a time jump- but not as much as her physical aging implies. The inquisitor looks pretty much the same. Barris is a healer, and we have seen that using the force to heal literally takes away your life force. Rey explains this, and it straight up killed Ben Solo when he used all of his life force to save Rey.

Gotta say that the Tales of the Empire was quite amazing in its own way! And while I do think some things could’ve been expanded upon (mainly Barriss’s story) I find it hard to dislike how the producers and creators of the story left some things up to the viewers interpretation which allows for more freedom of thinking and ideas WE want to make until whether or not, said characters appear again or not.
So yeah I have to say while Morgan’s story was good in its own way (loved Grievous’s intimidation factor being brought back like in the 2003 animated series), Barriss’s was definitely something I enjoyed more due to how it was left off of. We all already know Morgan passed in canon so they’re mainly filling in some blanks here and there with some developmental stuff, and yet at the end with Barriss? That was more of a mystery and it made everything all the more enjoyable.
But yeah. I also enjoyed your guys’s thoughts too. I had some similar thoughts in mind to MJTessler so it made it SO nice to have such a fellow deep fan of the SW Lore! Loved this and keep it up Rejects of the Dark Side! Lol. 😂

While visually the most impressive animation that Star Wars has put out yet, I cannot lie when I say I was hoping for more from a storytelling perspective. Morgan's stuff was fine, but there wasn't all that much you could do with her character to begin with (having an arc for her in this anthology always felt like a weird choice to me ever since that initial trailer). However, I was SUPER stoked for Barriss' arc. That had a ton of potential, but I was honestly a little disappointed. I was hoping we'd actually see her succumb to being an inquisitor. 2/3 of her arc honestly felt like something that would've fit better in a S2 of Tales of the Jedi.
Maybe I'm in the minority on that, but yeah, Barriss' arc just left me very unsatisfied. Regardless, the animation of this honestly left me speechless. It's so impressive what LucasFilm has done with their ever-evolving post-The Clone Wars animation style. Can't wait to see/hear what's next from the animation team.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I always assumed Lyn was older and it seemed so. Either Lyn's species ages better than Barris's or the ice cold windy weather was not kind to Barris's face. That and perhaps Barris enduring immune tress from the guilt of her actions after finally discarding the darkside and coming to terms with them. Though honestly I can't really justify it. Disney era Lucasfilm is far from smart. This was likely a nonsensical directorial decision. An I wouldn't even hold it past being a Filoni decision.
