- The episode follows Hughie Campbell being recruited by Billy Butcher to the Boys, after his girlfriend, Robin Ward, is accidentally killed by A-Train, leading him to realize the truth about the heroes and the company behind them, Vought, which would lead him to a conflict with one Supe named Translucent who is also a member of the superhero group known as the Seven. Meanwhile, Annie January / Starlight struggles to realize the truth about the heroes she admired after joining the Seven. She struggles to adapt to her new reality after another member of the team sexually assaults her.

Thought I was going crazy because I thought I had already watched you guys reacting to this, but that was back in 2022 with the full lengths hahaha.
They watched this last year but it was only full length watch-a-longs on their Patreon. I'm sure they are anticipating season 4 coming out in June.

Yeah The Boys comic is definitely not mandatory for watching this show. The series manages to take some interesting ideas that were executed terribly 20 years ago and completely rework everything into a much better story and series. 3 seasons in Im still amazed at how the quality of the show continues to rise with each and every episode.
Strong agree. I actually loved the Preacher comic and was stoked for The Boys. But the comic didn’t age badly, it was just really bad from jump street, sadly. It’s phenomenally impressive they made a show this good from it (especially considering how the same exec producers botched the Preacher show).

This is nuts! I swear to god I slipped into this reality from an alternate universe in which I am all but certain you guys have not only seen The Boys but you’ve covered/reacted to episodes for years now!?! It’s crazy considering how tapped into the comic book adaptation niche you all are. I almost envy you guys! Discovering just how good yet nerve wracking The Boys can be each season I guarantee you are in for a treat! It’s the rare adaptation that elevates and improves upon the source material. One of the only shows that I remember actively improving with every season, and that includes the brilliant 1st season of Gen V. (RIP Chance Perdomo) 🥺💔

Very excited to see these reactions! I have read the comics and am up to date on the show. Much like other comic adapted to TV show series (such as Invincible and Preacher) there are a number of differences/tweaks/changes/modernization of the material. And it's great! I feel like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy excelled at the same, where ever iteration in other mediums (radio, book, game, etc) certain story beats are expanded on or skipped entirely because each medium excels at different things. Also Douglas Adams wanted the story to feel fresh but familiar each time. I hope you all enjoy the series!

It's all about the context, finding 45K on the ground, you just found a lot of money. Getting 45K from a multi-billion dollar company after one of their guys killed your SO, is not a lot of money.

There are 3 seasons and 1 season of gen-v and gen-v is a must watch as well. Season 4 out in about a month p. It's gonna be amazing.

If the show was just bloody to be bloody and brash (which it is) the show would have failed. Thankfully, the story and the characters are as well. Enjoy The Boys, boys!
The comics are SO much more extreme. I love 'em, but still... That said, this live-action universe does things better than the source material.

I did not enjoy the comics at all but I love the show. My sentiment appears somewhat common from what I've heard from others who have read the comics and the show. I love Garth Ennis' writing for Punisher and Preacher, but I just didn't enjoy The Boys.

Many people have agreed that the comic book is garbage compared to the tv series. I will say Starlight's assault is worst as she was gangr**ed by The Deep, A-Train and Homelander. Also, the showrunner is Eric Kripke, who's best known as the creator of Supernatural

It or not. But the show is narratively better in my opinion.
Gotta say this Season 1 is much better than 2 & 3. As usual the show gets flanderized slightly as it goes on. The subtly in their parody's and references has been lost now. It's like they're chasing edgy, OMG moments instead of letting them happen naturally. This pilot was SO GOOD.
