Sounds like your 3/4 plate in the shifter is backwards perhaps. On second thought, your lever on the trans is probably not installed correctly. Changing the orientation of the shifter lever at the trans allows you to change where gears are located, reverse included. You could make reverse left and down, rather than left and up by flipping the lever.
The overdrive A-833 was basically a gearset change to the existing A-833 transmission, which had been in production since 1964. By flipping the 3-4 shift lever 180 degrees, engineers were able to keep the direct-drive Fourth gear and substitute a set of 0.73:1 Overdrive gears in place of the normal Third gear, without changing the shifter pattern.
We use to use a nail to line up linkage.
Wish I had an 833 in my demon. I’ll be watching eBay and other’s until the right deal comes along and funds allow.🤓
Great! Scoured the net and no images of how the linkages are setup or whats what. Thanks!!!
What scattershield are you using?
What model is the fork for these bellhousing
Is that an overdrive? I hooked my linkage up and 3rd 4th is opposite when shifting

Too shaky, out of focus and poorly recorded. Didn't show how this gets set up to the shifter.
