      Awesome! Im still learning as well.
      I was told the other day that the 1975 cast iron OD trans is truck or van. Apparently there were no more 4 speed b bodies and no e bodies in 75. 68 was the last year for c body 4 speeds.

    Nice description and you aren't kidding about costing a nutsack and whatever. Around here most people are selling as rebuilt and want $2K. Friggin insane if you are on the buying end such as me or riding the wave if you are the seller. The whole cars were just over that back in the day.

    • @halfwayhousegarage2959
      @halfwayhousegarage2959  3 года назад +1

      Well, to be a seller you have to be a buyer. You wont find good deals on ebay. When do you find them for sale for a decent price you have to jump on the deal. The longer you do this the more contacts and the more opportunities youll come across. Ive bought probably 4 or 5 4 speeds since this video. Deals are still out there

      I forgot Chevy used them in the 80s. They used them instead of making their own OD 4 speed.

    hello, a question. I own a A833 OD aluminum... also have an iron case from an older A833 not overdrive. Can I swap the case and put the iron instead of the aluminum case? do they interchange with no problem? Is it worth the effort? some advantage in doing so? thanks.. !!

    • @halfwayhousegarage2959
      @halfwayhousegarage2959  4 года назад

      Im really not sure on that. I would say that there is no real reason to. When we are talking about 3000-4000lb cars, 50 lb difference in transmission weight isnt a huge deal. The aluminum OD transmissions are probably the easiest and cheapest out there. The cast iron units are about as tough as old 4 speeds get.
      Again, im not an expert on these. After 15 years of seeing these at swap meets and owning a few and trying to learn whats what, i decided to share my limited knowledge. Mopar guys make such a huge deal about small variations that it makes it damn near impossible to decipher the basics on what is what.

    • @grandparails8858
      @grandparails8858 3 года назад

      You can interchange. I have a 76 Volare’ Road Runner, I took out the OD 4spd and put in one from a 68 Road Runner just changed the main shaft and tail shaft housing. If get one from an A or E body you just bolt it in.

      Ok, its either an np435 or an A833OD. If the shifter is in the center or the transmission tunnel then its a 435. If it has a separate shifter perch hanging off the trans hump to the driver side then its an a833
