    East fix. Hammer chisel. Did mine still good 2 years later. You can buy the tool for the caps but normally it’s easy to use hammer and chisel in the holes in the caps, The whole job with all seals replaced 30mins with bleeding aswel. 🤷‍♂️

    I have that exact motor but 2003. I'm so glad to find your channel to help with my repairs. Currently, my motor seems sluggish to trim up/down and it will slowly fall back down when trimmed up. The fluid is full. What troubleshooting would you do in a situation like mine?

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  Год назад

      I would start with seals, most of time that is the culprit.

    • @CP-ex1py
      @CP-ex1py Год назад

      You most likely have air still in the system..fully raise and lock motor then open pressure relief valve and let it fall slowly to bleed air...now raise it back up and lock it..check fluid in up position and repeat until it holds..good luck

    If you have an engine with no tilt and trim do you need a diffrent bracket to fit it or can you use whats with the engine and then just fit it under the original bracket that holds the engine to the boat.Great shots thanks.

    Hi .. can you please clarify something for me? I see you used transmission fluid to insert the two rams after you changed the seals... but then you filled up the reservoir with gear oil? Also, what is the name of the special tool you got from Amazon to turn the covers and disassemble?

      Hi Jay, please sub the channel if you haven't done so. I used the transmission fluid to fill the reservoir as well. The pump I used is called lower unit gear oil pump. Sorry for the confusion. The tool is listed in description box with the link, it is called spanner tool, make sure you pick the right tool listed for your outboard. Happy boating !!

    Well, this was about the third or fourth time that I have gone to your channel for health. I have the same exact motor the same exact boatI live in Perry Hall, Maryland.
    Did the water pump last year ran into the fuel issue with old fuel lines I’m working on trying to figure out why the motor gets really warm actually about 170 180° on most before I throttle into it to cool it off just wondering if you have ran into this issue I am going to clean the cooling system hopefully this weekend if it clears up wondering if you had any input as well as what other problems should I come up against with this boat? Any kind of fuel tank, issues or anything like that?

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  Год назад +1

      Donald I am glad my channel is helpful. You can clean up thermostats and check at what temperature they open up, usually it is marked on them. Also, 175 is normal but if goes over 175 then check water inlet holes, impeller and thermostats. About fuel, I always add stablizer

    How did you get both trim rods down? Manual push after releasing pressure?

    • @FKCamVlogs

      Yes release pressure, then you can push down or open. You have to wiggle to pull them out because of rubber seals if pushed all the way down

Did you guys end up figuring it out? And if so can I get a detailed response on how to get them on the downward position because they are both sticking out and they are not moving

    Hi Fk, my best compliments for your tutorial. I HAVE IMPORTANT QUESTION: it seems that the cup you have to remove by the "oil tank" is also the air-purge.(sorry I'm italian). I saw that to fill the pistons with oil you had to take a pump dedicated to this use. But, once the pistons are filled the oil will not come out of the hole you removed the cap from. In practice, when you purge the air, can you afford to lose some oil, as happened to me, without worrying about topping up the lost one (a few drops)? I have an Evinrude Etec 150, but the whole trim system is identical!

    • @FKCamVlogs

      Thanks Karl and yes don't be afraid to loose oil when purging. Hope this helps

    Did your trim go up at all when the seals were leaking? My trim motor works up and down great and has plenty of fluid but it won’t physically move the outboard up

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  3 года назад

      Yes it did but dont forget, once there is air, it may seem working but won't lift the motor all the way.

    • @hunternelson6384
      @hunternelson6384 3 года назад

      @@FKCamVlogs can it be purged by trimming down with switch and then lift back up manually using release screw?

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  3 года назад

      You can purge by loosening the bolt and bring it up and down few times for air to clear and add fluid as needed. It has to be lifted with trim motor not manually.

    • @FKCamVlogs
      @FKCamVlogs  Год назад +1

      James, that's a good question. First, like many others, I used transmission fluid because it is hydraulic quality fluid, secondly one cap was replaced,the other had only cosmetic issue, which did not affect performance or the durability of the product. Lastly, tools were used that were recommended and some that were handy than whats recommended. Safety takes precedence over money. Nothing was skipped to save a buck or two
