Thank you so for posting this video , I have a 90 hp evinrude etc that sprung a leak on the trim cylinder , I also ordered the same tool to remove the cap and a seal kit , again thank you Sir
The end cap is designed to open those check valves in the piston, so if the cylinder goes all the way up and the operator doesn't release the switch, it prevents over pressurizing the cyl and causing damage to the system. The new cap without the groove is for a newer system that uses an electric limit switch instead of the mechanical design that you have.
Have the exact engine and did just what you did , I wish you had show the finishing part , I replaced the end cap , added oil and now somehow the motor does not want to go up or down
I've seen others replace that end cap with the wrong one in other videos, and i just found out mine has been replaced as well with the wrong one. Its also missing one of the four bearings :( Is the correct end cap with kit available anywhere without having to buy an entire unit?
Do you know what year of etec this is for. I have a 2009 that is leaking badly. Dealer tells me it can’t be resealed. But Amazon has the seals and tools.

How bad does shaft need to be to tear out seal .Can see a couple of marks on it just feel something slightly
