thanks for the video. i feel like despite having a lot of features, reaper is not very intuitive because i never knew about these quality-of-life features that should have been more apparent without tutorials or rtfm.

Something I'd love to see is what I would term 'envelope algebra'. That is, the ability to create 'abstract' envelopes (not controlling anything), say x and y, and then have the volume defined in terms of them, vol = A + (B-A)(x*y) What this would do is to take envelope x, scale it by the value of envelope y, then offset and scale. The result is that we could e.g. use one envelope item as an LFO, and another to scale the value of the LFO, and then use the resulting envelope to modulate the volume of a track (or any other parameter). This is the kind of thing that some plugin's modulation systems allow. Given an environment like Max/PureData, it is straightforward to create using math objects.
With a plugin on a track, there is a Bypass check mark that you will be present in the automation parameters when click that Trim button. This allows you to toggle the plugin being "on" or not.

An alternative view is being able to automate the properties in the Envelope Item Properties dialog.

No. If you have a 64 bit PC (and you probably do), you're better off with the 64 bit version.
I have only just found this. I still think I prefer the sws lfo generator but this is amazing for the cockos team to implement

When I do the same, there is no option for an automation item? Why is that? I use reaper 5.26

Make sure Reaper is up to date. You should be able to make an automation item by Ctrl+ left click dragging on the automation track.
