So here, the broader context is making the custom menu. That has really increased my understanding of how to use all of what Reaper is capable of.

Interesting. Ive never done it this way, but I always use the create 4 points action. I've got to study what youre doing. Is the advantage that you are using the slider instead of the mouse directly on the envelope?

One thing I don't get though : what is the need of using time selection? Automations recording don't seem to conform to Recording modes preferences (like auto punch in/out). (That would be great!)
@ that was initially my bewilderment as well it's needed to make the playback stop at the end of the time selection but only because it's linked to loop points (Repeat is Off in the transport), if it's not, loop points will have to be used instead of the time selection
In my former DAW, the automation line was over the media, but editing the automation affected the waveform graphics as well (higher volume automation made the waveform grow and visa versa). Is there such a mode in Reaper?
Yes, you can use item automation or use track automation (pre-fx), they both change the waveform graphic. If you don't see the waveform changing that means it's not enabled in the preferences (i think it's on by default)
Please tell me, is the time selection only for visualization, and the start and stop of automation is done with the "play" key? And how to make the cursor always be at the beginning of the selection like you have?
Good question, I have the same problem that after the time selection it keeps on writing, also the cursor does not start at the beginning of the selection...
I found it: ruclips.net/video/eDPVzM4X-EA/видео.html for the cursor to start at the beginning of the selection And in preferences in the tab Audio Playback you can select the second tick "Stop playback at end of loop if repeat is disabled
@@harrycompier6496 I have added a button to the toolbar. She starts the action: "Toggle stop playback at end of loop if repeat is disabled." This action stops playback at the end of the selection. Turns the checkbox on and off in the menu.
Yo yo. I am interested in quick and easy automation for 3d panning. I used pro tools write and glide through key frames and that was awesome, is there aything like this in reaper?
