This will be helpful. I'm working on a project recording guitar but I've got four tracks DI, AMP only from two notes, SM57, MD421 mics on the speaker all recording the same source. All i wanted to do was edit one track and takes and the rest follows, i hope this works.
These posts as so helpful. Would it be possible to post something on EQ'ing recorded tracks for mixing please? I mean, so that the guitar don't muddy the bass or drums and the lead guitars don't clash with the rhythm guitars?

Ummmmmmm was "Media/Razor edits" always a Group parameter? I have been carefully toggling 'selection follows item grouping' on and off to edit multimiked piano stems for two years now.....I could have SWORN I looked into this a handful of times over the years, and always heard grouping only applies to items, and tracks can't be edited as a group. This is NUTS!!! Is this a recent addition? If it is what I think it is, this is the single most useful update I've ever experienced as a daily Reaper user!!! edit: Jesus H Christ it was added on Dec 22 2022!! Praise Cockos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should also ensure that the sidechained drum is sending to auxiliary channels (3-4), not the default synth channels (1-2). You should then have two distinct meters on your track : one for the regular signal (the synth) on channels 1-2, and one for the sidechained signal (drums) on channels 3-4.
Great explanation ! But what if I want to duplicate, say, three tracks without items, and they will be grouped for media/razor automatically, but in group 2, and so on incrementally ? It's useful during recording, to be able to quickly edit and move newly recorded multi tracks between grouped tracks, grouping just an items is not efficient during recording.
I like the way you start simple and get progressively more complicated with the feature. Great teaching approach. Thx as always Kenny.

When I have a synth side chained to a midi drum the synth plays the drum rack. Do you have a video on how to fix this?

Alt on the PC, Option on the Mac and Right Drag. Although, you can change it.

Question: What are the advantages to this versus VCA's??? Yes more versatile but I'm talking in general. Group gain. But this is really cool! :D
