I’ve seen soundmixer for movies riding those faders like they’re possessed. So I asked, and they told me that for dialogues, it’s better this way. It takes a lot of practice, but the human voice is quite predictable in terms of volume. With sentences starting high and gradually decreasing in volume.
I know it makes me really sad too. So many videos I've had to scrap or postpone cuz I just can't capture it. Was also gonna show some mixing but with lots of processing on a project it's too much on the system :(

I disagree that this isn't technically compression... if you adjust gain to reduce dynamic range, it's compression! I think manual compression is a great descriptor.
Yeah I guess it was mostly for nitpickers, since compressor have a ratio and a threshold, and this doesn't ie gain reduction stays the same even if you turn down the incoming signal, but yeah basically it does what compression does :)

Thanks buddy! For concert bass drums you could even do a similar just to the low end, by writing EQ gain, could be fun!

in the Theme Tweaker, lok for arrange view area and there's a main color and a shading! :)
Preferences -> Appearance -> Divide Arrange vertically every ... measures

You have to choose the pre-fx volume envelope. It won't happen if you use the regular volume envelope :)

ratio is how low you pull down the gain and threshold is where you put it 🤓
