With the resurgent increase in popularity of various martial arts I hope millions more can take in a fraction of the knowledge presented in your video libraries. Very important toward keeping oneself and one's training partner as safe as possible. Wish you the best!
Thank you! I learned some extra little bits here. I am having custom handmade gloves made for me (16Oz all rounder and 12Oz mitt/pad work glove). Appreciated the detail you went to on the variety of wrist locking mechanisms and their pros/cons. Cheers 🙏

Excellent video. The Cleto Reyes thumbless bag gloves always seemed interesting to me enough to where I am always considering buying them. Ever use them, Carlo?
Wowwww you are very knowledgeable kid !! Very informative video !! Even though I’m always into boxing , I really learned a lot with your video !! Congrats kid !! Amazing your presentation 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great breakdown video, something I'll definitely steer people towards if they don't properly understand the kind of gloves they need for training and/or want to be at least generally informed on punching equipment.

@@csquaredboxing Yeno what, il share the story with you. So my brother and his friend were walking in a park, just a nice walk, families out with their kids. Basically, it got dark very fast, my bro and his friend were walking out of the park. When two guys approached them, they were asking if they were the guys they were supposed to meet, looking for their weed... Intimidation tactics... My bro and his friend are not fighters, no violence in them. Basically, my bro and his friend ran away, but my bro got hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat which came from nowhere. So, my brother was beaten to the ground, his friend ran back to help. The attackers said, "If you take one step closer we will stab him". So my brother's friend had to run. My brother continued to get beaten on the ground, protecting his face with his hand. My bro offered his phone and his money but they didn't want that, they stopped for a moment and said "that's enough"... When a light from a phone shined on the ground... and the beating started again... They began to record him while they beat him. The attackers ran away and my brother got away, found his friend... Basically, my bro is ok but he has 4 broken bones in his hand, really beat up. It was a horrible attack and these guys were not fighters, they were just purely looking for easy targets and looking to only hurt someone. It's terrible that these people are out there, young men, miss guided men... But this has led me onto taking up a martial art, looking into May Thai. So that's what has led me to your video, getting gloves and a bag. It's important to give yourself a fighting chance, at the same time this is a journey in self-mastery. What more can I say, this is one story in a big world. I hope you are keeping well during these times my friend. Thanks for the video.
Hello! I’ve been watching your videos throughout the day and I’m enjoying them a lot, I just recently got into boxing and I’m curious what weight gloves I should get? I’m 5”8, about 130ish. Will only be working with a heavy bag.
Came here to learn what type of glove I should use on a heavy bag and reflex bag, and you gave me an education. Great video. Hopefully, you're getting some support from Rival, cause I'm probably going to buy their RB5 Bag Mitts thanks to your video.
@@csquaredboxing Would you recommend wrapping your hands when using the bag mitts on a heavy bag? I've read from several people that the mitts alone won't protect your hands enough.
Always wrap. I’ve been hitting the bags for years but still consider myself a novice but the best thing I ever learnt was wrapping. Your hands and wrists will thank you.
dcgoride I am new to it too. But I’m all in, I love it. Is there a downside of not strengthening your hands/wrists with wrapping every time? I’m really trying to get as close as I can to a defensive street fight scenario. I’m thinking the bag mitts are the way to go. Any help would be appreciated
Hugh Jassole wrapping is going to protect your hands and wrists from injuries especially as you get tired and your form goes off. Your hands and wrists are still going to get stronger just with a lower risk of injury.
I wanted to get the 16 oz everlast pro style, but they were super sloppy on my hands. The only ones that even fit in that brand were the 8oz. I'm only hitting a 70 lb bag so should be ok, I really just want to work on speed and form anyway.
For Christmas I am getting bad boy 8 oz gloves . The available sizes were 8 oz , 12oz and 16 oz . I am a boy of 12 years old . Do you think 8 oz is a good bag/training/pro fighting glove for a kid of my age ?
csquaredboxing thank you , by the way I love your videos. They are useful and I’m thinking about joining a boxing club after corona virus . The bad boy boxing gloves are definitely one of the best gloves under $35. The review of the bad boy gloves was really good . Thanks
Hey bro big fan of yours love your vids i am completely new to boxing and going to start soon can you recommend me some good gloves my budget is around 60$$...
Simran Hayre it typically goes by weight and hand size, to make it easy, if you’re smaller and have a lighter frame, go with 14 ounce. Larger go with 16 ounce. You can go with 12 ounces as well for training but then you won’t be able to spar with gloves that small, 14-16 is the correct weight
So many variables its hard to answer, depends on quality of gloves, how often you train, how long you train, do you take care of your gloves. A good pair typically 2-3 years, but again all depends on personal habits.
Have watched your glove videos. But would appreciate your specific recommendation of 2 or 3 specific gloves with model # or full name of glove in 2022. I am over 60 yrs old, but a beginner. I just want to do bag work. I need maximum knuckle and wrist protection for Heavy Bag. I am not going to spare, nor do mitt work (I don't think). Please recommend 2 or 3 gloves (under $95.00) for maximum wrist and knuckle protection for Bag Work only. I am 6'1" and 175lbs with long arms. Thank you very much. Great channel.
What are the most "loose" type fitting of all boxing gloves you have tried? When I hit the heavy bag, I don't like tight or "snug" gloves, I like the loose fitting ones, with no pressure on my fists at all. Which one would you recommend?
csquaredboxing any tips on hand sizing for gloves. Buying online is tough. Thanks for any tips ya got. Or if you’ve got a video out there already for the topic lmk. Thanks
Novice here, this channel is awesome. I just purchased a pair of 16 oz Ringside Apex sparring gloves. I’ll be doing exclusively bag work for the foreseeable future. Should I return and get some bag gloves, or will these be okay? Also, how long will they last if I’m working out a few hours 2-3 times a week? Thanks!
Those will be fine once they really break in. They should last anywhere between 6 months to a year depending on how often you use them and take care of them
Cleat Plays How are those 16oz Ringside Apex sparring gloves working out for you? I was scrolling through the comments and saw you mentioned the gloves I want to buy and use for the heavy bag.
No. Amateur boxing competitions (if sanctioned) typically supply the gloves to be used and are USA boxing (or whatever country you live) approved for competition
I do personally, but it also depends on you and if any pre existing injuries. Also the bag density makes a difference, softer filled bags are more forgiving.
Thanks for all the videos you have posted, they really help me out. I just started Muay Thai and I’m only 13, 120 pounds, and around 5’6. Do you recommend me to get 12 or 14oz gloves? I tried 12 oz and they are a little tight but 14oz look pretty big on me, but I think they are better for me. Also, would u prefer pro everlast, venum classic, or venum contenders 2.0 gloves?
Hey 👋 where I come from (Italy) boxing gloves for bag work are completely different than the ones you showed in the video. Mines have much less paddy than sparring/training gloves (which I also have), and the thumb is completely free (pretty much like MMA gloves). And my coach always said to not ever use them in sparring cuz with those I'd badly hurt my opponent. Is that a country thing or something?
For most people training gloves are the way to go since you can use it for virtually everything at the boxing gym. As far as what glove to get, there’s so many variables and a million brands, depends on budget
I love your videos!! They are very informative. I want to purchase a floor standing reflex boxing punching bag for my son who is about to be 30., I also want to purchase gloves. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.
Thanks man! I currently like the title cobra reflex bag, check out my review on it. As far as gloves go, it just depends on your budget because there’s a ton to choose from
Hey man I'm very new to boxing I am six ft 4 and want to do bag work for working out. I can afford 150 or more.but want to be sure of the right glove. And hand wraps. Or do you reccomend the glove hand wraps. Thank you.
Well I ended up getting cleto reyes 18 oz lace up. I did alot of reviewing and research. And I have a pair arriving today.. thank you guys for your responses. And your generous help. I very much appreciate it.
I’ve heard that the greater the padding on gloves the harder you can punch therefore the whole reasoning behind getting more padding for sparring is actually reversed since it encourages harder punching. Thoughts on this?
When you say “greater” the padding do you mean thicker padding? Sparring gloves should be medium density padding, whether multi layer foam or injected foam, it should be too hard (stiff foam) or too soft to where the knuckles can sink through. Just my experience with good sparring gloves. That way when you land a shot on your opponent it’s a little more forgiving on impact. As far as encouraging harder punching, that’s a self control thing as well as something that needs to be monitored by a trainer or coach. If 2 guys are throwing nothing but haymakers then I don’t care what gloves they’re wearing, the trainer needs to control the sparring.
csquaredboxing that’s very true. I meant thicker padding but I 100% agree that sparring should be monitored better. From my experience there’s very little monitoring/control from the coaches and the sparring partners. I’ve had pretty bad experiences where most sparring partners don’t know how to control their shots therefore they just 100% full force. I think it’s stupid to train like this though bc you can’t try new things you learned in training and it’s just discouraging if you’re just getting whacked especially for beginners
@@paulnguyen9857 Yeah I agree, its just there to feed ego. Theres a time and place for hard sparring, more or less for the PRO level/ high level amateurs that are preparing for a fight. But this is what other boxers with their experience level that understands the parameters of their sparring. Outside of that, sparring doesnt need to be full power, because youre essentially trying improve your understanding of how to "attack" your opponent. The power will always be available, its more important to work on putting the puzzle together.
A very informative and great presentation. This actually answered all my questions regarding the different types of gloves. Thanks!
Thanks appreciate it!

Hey, I’m looking to use the gloves for bag and pad work and maybe sparring. Are the training gloves best suited for me?
Yes definitely go with a training glove which would be good for all kinds of work including sparring

Simran Hayre it typically goes by weight and hand size, to make it easy, if you’re smaller and have a lighter frame, go with 14 ounce. Larger go with 16 ounce. You can go with 12 ounces as well for training but then you won’t be able to spar with gloves that small, 14-16 is the correct weight

so if i was to only get one pair of gloves should i get the training gloves? very informative video.
and also, which specific glove (brand and model) should i start out with?
For most people training gloves are the way to go since you can use it for virtually everything at the boxing gym. As far as what glove to get, there’s so many variables and a million brands, depends on budget
csquaredboxing any specific brands i should look for? thinking about around 100 dollars. thx for the help too btw

Yes both would be good

Thanks man! I currently like the title cobra reflex bag, check out my review on it. As far as gloves go, it just depends on your budget because there’s a ton to choose from

I can’t find those Title bag gloves please help! Would you consider bob xl a bag? If not can you suggest a glove for training with bob?
