    Quick tip regarding the acetone comment at the end of the video. Acetone eats nitrile but not latex so I would recommend latex gloves if you are not allergic.

      Hi Mark! Yes -- I've got Wham Bam flex plates installed on an Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro, and two Monoprice Maker Select Plus printers. I'm using a mix of sprint steel sheets, some with PEX installed and some with PEI installed. The Wham Bam system is one of my all-time favorite things.

    Hey Bryan, I have a question on the MP SELECT PLUS using Cura 4.0.0. I have only added the Z-axis brace to my unit and everything else is stock. I want to change filament during a print to highlight letters that are around 2 mm taller than the finished top surface. Do you have any how-to on how to successfully accomplish this? I plan on making filament cards, Keychain, etc. Pause at height and pause at level seem to stop right on top of the item instead of moving off where I can purge my nozzle. Can you help? Thanks, Rocky

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! I don’t remember whether the stock firmware on the Maker Select Plus supports the M600 G-code command. M600 is the “Filament Swap” command. I don’t think it does. The ADVi3++ firmware handles it pretty well. If you’re not ready to try upgrading the firmware (which also requires updating the code on the LCD display), try to pause the print using the controls on the LCD. If the printer lets you pause, AND moves the nozzle for purging, then you’re golden. You’ll just have to do it manually like that, instead of in G-code. I may have time next few weeks to try downgrading the firmware on the printer and seeing what I can make it do. But in the meantime, try manually pausing and see what the printer does. Just try it on a calibration cube or something, and try after the second or third layer. It’s just a test. Good luck, and let me know what it does.

    can't I just use the original magnetic base with the new wham bam spring sheet? I placed on it and it holds just like the ender build plate.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  3 года назад

      Hi, you can probably get away with that for a while, and wait until the Creality magnet loses enough of its magnetism that it no longer holds the spring steel sheet well. My recollection when trying that is that the Wham Bam magnet felt like it held the spring steel sheet more firmly. The Wham Bam magnet is rated for higher temperatures as well. 👍

      @@BV3D cool thanks for the reply. I'm not ready to pull my ender apart yet but I do have the wham bam system and when I'm ready, I'll try it first with the ender magnet and then if I like the new system, I'll do it correctly.

    hey mine is arriving soon and the 300x300 was not something I can afford easily. it's a gift from my sister so it's special to me!
    do you think these would be easy to remove? (the magnet portion) the issue is i'm gonna install it over my normal mk2a aluminium heated bed but i'm worried the bow and all of the bed would make it unusable etc/ specially it might warp more overtime since my printer is new. do you think the magent could be easy to remove? I could install it over glass from the begining but that'd make a thick 4 layer sandwich 0_0

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  4 года назад

      Hi Chloe, and congrats!
      Trying to remove the magnet sheet after you've installed it will most likely destroy it.
      So far I haven't had much issue with bowed beds, although I do kind of wish I had put a little bit of one of those shim strips in the middle of the bed of the Ender 3 Pro. It's not bad, but it is maybe 0.1 mm lower in the middle than at the edges. But since most of the things I print don't go all the way to the edges of the bed, I usually have it adjusted for the best first layer when things are in the middle. I also use a 0.24mm first layer, which seems to help accommodate such issues.
      You can use the straight edge of a steel ruler, and lay it diagonally across the bed and shine a light behind it to see if it's bowed up or down. Wham Bam has a video showing the ruler technique on their site (ruclips.net/video/ZLxP0Wo2044/видео.html)
      I'm about 5 or 6 months into having this on the Ender 3 Pro, and haven't noticed a problem with the bed bowing more than it already was from the factory. I don't think you want to go super thick on the bed, both because it'll take longer for the print surface to get up to temperature (despite what the bed thermistor says; it will take longer for the heat to work its way up through the layers). Also you'll be adding a lot of mass to the Y axis.

    • @chloemcholoe3280
      @chloemcholoe3280 4 года назад

      @@BV3D my printer is a corexy so the mass won't matter much but yeh! I do have a probe so i'll check how bad mine is. maybe i can sand it down and use a middle screw to also add support to the middle of the bed

  • @Pas2012IMD

    Great video, as always! I just do not get why you had to remove the original magnetic base and replace it with the new one, as they seem pretty much the same thing. What would happen if you stick with the stock magnetic base?

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  4 года назад +1

      The Creality Cmagnet base and the print surface are both magnetic. So while the Creality base magnet will hold onto the spring steel sheet, it doesn't hold nearly as strong as the base magnet from Wham Bam.

    • @Pas2012IMD
      @Pas2012IMD 4 года назад

      @@BV3D Thanks Bryan! I do not know if it is because my ender 3 pro is very recent (I bought it a month ago), but the fact is that when I place the steel sheet on the stock Cmagnet base if feels as if it adheres to it very strongly, no less than when I put it on top of the new base (although it is another brand, not wham bam). So for now I'm gonna try a few prints without removing the Cmagnet base and keep the new one for later. I can always change it later, but if I remove the original one now, then I could not go back, because it gets ruined
