This is an EXCELLENT tutorial for beginner AND seasoned participants alike! Everyone doing pilates is well served by returning to the foundation once in a while…doing so can have a profound impact on your practice & strength. The wall provides such great feedback! As a fellow instructor I appreciate your explanations, modifications, tips, reminders, etc. There’s a lot to learn in Pilates and it’s takes time and practice to correctly understand the technique. All the information you give will really help viewers be successful, safe and get results! Well done! Thank you!
Thank you Christina! And I absolutely agree. No matter how advanced/strong you are there are so many benefits of doing a class that deeply focuses on alignment and foundation. Xx
As a heavier person that has multiple serious autoimmune diseases, ive had many back surgeries, permanent nerve damage in my right leg, and knee problems, it's VERY HARD FOR ME TO FIND THINGS I CAN DO SAFELY. This was my first time trying wall pilates and I definitely feel I stretched well and got a workout. I'm hopeful that this will continue to work for me and eventually help me move better and maybe lose some weight. Thank you!
I am heavier too. I only have arthritis in my right knee and fibromyalgia. Your comment has inspired me to give this a try. Thank you for what you have written.❤
I went to a “beginner’s “ yoga class after a small heart attack. It was more like gymnastics than real yoga. I sneaked out after 20 mins crying and not able to do 90% of what she was asking the students to do. As you say, Thank goodness for this lady who does realise what “beginner” means
I enjoyed this. I needed the constant reminders to check my position, and as someone who needs modified exercises due to a disability, this was one of the first times in recent memory I felt empowered and capable. I've been sedentary for years as exercising seems like such a huge challenge, but this made me feel great afterwards.
Just a quick question, what if you can not sit cross legged? I have problems with my right groin area where it connects into the hip. Can you do it with your legs straight out in front?
4/13/23 great workout, great instruction! I am a retired personal trainer, step aerobics instructor, and this is my first wall workout! I learned a lot from you today! My back feels 🎊 great!🎉 THANK YOU! ❤
At 7:36, why don't we see you moving your arms back against the wall? Confusing. After the hands are straight out, I don't see any movement with the arms although I hear you saying that you are moving your arms back.
This is my very first attempt, I enjoyed it. I just wish it was a closer view because I was unsure if I was doing it correctly. I will be back for more
I've been looking for a really good beginners program for myself. I love your energy. I'm excited to start this 🥰 I've had 5 knee surgeries (including two total knee replacements), 2 carpal tunnel surgeries, a torn rotator cuff, hip pain, bad back pain, accompanied by fibromyalgia and arthritis. I'm only 46. I used to play a lot of sports until my first knee injury and it just went downhill from there. So I'll really excited to start this program of yours! Thank you🙏🙏🙏
I'd love to see a side view. I must be doing it wrong since the curve of my lower back has too much tension. Or maybe this is due to improper posture while working. 😅
Hi Karen!! Yes, you can do them everyday. I would suggest one day off though to recover. Thanks for being here!I have a beginners playlist here: Beginner Workouts ruclips.net/p/PLW8dYRHv4x6MEmsiTu4tK-MIonAl6QQz0
This was such a great video. I’ve been doing exercise at home for a month, and I know my results aren’t gonna be as quickly as someone who goes to the gym, but for me this is everything, all I need it work in my consistency and I’ve been wanting to do wall pilates for a while. Your form of instruction was so good, specially for the posture, I always forget to keep a steady posture, thanks so much! Planning to do this for the remainder of the year 🎉. Wish me luck ❤
Loved this! I heard and felt lots of pops as my spine released tension. I love working out and thought this might be too easy but I appreciated you explaining how to intensify a bit and the reminders to check position!
Awesome workout! For the oblique exercise, is my butt also supposed to be touching the wall at that point? Because i was having a hard time doing that while pushing my legs up the wall. Thanks so much!
Excellent...I find holding my posture difficult and placing a small pillow behind my head really helped. Surprising how hard I worked considering the small movements. Thank you x
Day 23 best fit challenge 9/29/23 thank you Lindsay. I was looking for something new. I say a 14 day challenge. It wasn't free. I decided to look on RUclips and found you 1st. Thank you for your beginner tutorial. I 👍🏾. ❤️
I am an endomorph and get musccles quickly. Question : will the calf raises cause my calf muscles get big & bulky? Or will it stretch it and lean it out? Appreciate an answer. Thanks
This was my first wall pilates trial and you are really good 👍🏼 Where is this place in Goa ? I have a home there 😊and would love to try getting some Yoga classes in.
Thank you for this video! I’m obese according to my Dr..have pre diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides so my number one change is diet and number two is exercise. This has helped me start that. ☺️
Thank you so much for taking the time to make sure we are getting each stretch perfectly done. I can really feel the power of the workout when I do it correctly and diligently. ❤️😊
Thank you!!!! I had lower (L5S1) back surgery and even walking up a slight incline can leave me in tears. I did this a few days ago thinking "well let's see how bad I am tomorrow and if I can even get out of bed." As generally any workout leaves me in such excruciating pain getting out of bed is impossible. Day three and I'm still following this video, followed by a mix of my PT exercises and some Somatic exercises!! Thank you!!!
I started at the beginning but soon got cramp through my ribs and back…and mid thoracic pain. Am I doing it wrong, or is something to expect when you start?
Hi Helen! This can be expected when starting new exercises. As long as it’s not sharp pain. With cramping I would suggest smaller range of motion when performing the exercises and less reps until the body gets use to it. Hope that helps!
It was so healing as I am searching for a way to recover from « long Covid » steadily without injury … I need to release stress ! I will continue with your practice, daily ! Thank you ❤
Cant wait to try, when im allowed unfortunately my therapist is only letting me do back streches & neck ones. Im still very tight in my upper back, so more treatment to go, before i get green light😊
Thank you so much, I have had back surgery and SCAD so I have put on some kilos. This really helped to stretch and workout safely. Beginning my journey today :)
Hi Joanne! There are many different types of breathing but mostly yoga is more belly breathing where pilates is more intercostal breathing. The difference is that pilates aims to keep the low abs contracted and you breathe more into your rib cage and chest where as yoga would be filling up the low belly as well.
Thank you! This is the first video that I was able to get my butt off the floor. After a back injury I've been struggling to find a video to help get me started.
hello, thanks for your video, I am going to try it. On the supported squat, the lower back, as you glide down, do I keep a little curve or do I try to paste it to the wall? I want to know before I try.
Hi Lola! I would try to keep a small natural curve there. If that causes you any discomfort or pain then I would cue for an imprint spine where you paste it to the wall. Let me know how it goes :)
Great beginner video! She thoroughly explains each exercise and why you are doing it, even down to the breathing technique. I am starting my Pilates journey this week towards a stronger back this wasn’t an intimidating video at all, in fact I plan to follow along to her videos as I advance. Thanks for sharing 😊!
Thank you so much for this work out. I don’t have money to go to see a trainer and use the reformer, but I can see how this against the wall Pilates can substitute the reformer and help you auto correct. Thanks so much I feel terrific.
28:14 I really enjoyed this. I have had both knees replaced and have very limited rotation in my hips so can’t cross my legs at all but was able to adapt to this and follow it fairly easily so thank you 😊
@@PilatesOnDemandthank you Lindsay. I have still been starting off my workouts with this routine everyday. I have continued on with one of your more immediate routines after this one. I found a video short to where the woman puts her shoulders on the ground and feet on the wall creating a diagonal slant. Then she lifts defeat one by one, stretching the toes to the ceiling (reps x15). In the diagonal slant, she also twists her hips creating an infinity symbol (reps x15). She alternates each rep creating a total of 3 reps 3x. So I have been doing this workout. Followed by an intermediate workout of yours. Then finishing hers every day for 4 days. Then I missed yesterday and, "oh missing a day, makes the body feel it!" The day missed was a total body burn. After doing it again today my body feels back to not cramping. So I'm figuring once you get into this, it becomes a body addiction and a consequence if you miss a day.
