Level: Beginner
This is a wall pilates beginner workout. This video includes form tips to help you get the most out of the exercises. It is ok to repeat this workout daily, however, the best way for you to build strength is to increase the challenge placed on your muscles over time. You can do this by repeating this workout for an additional round or 2, adding ankle weights, or completing another video after this. If you are interested in completing the 28 Day Wall Pilates Challenge, you can find it on my main RUclips page.

Starting the 28 day challenge again! I was pleased after the first 28 days that I was able to firm up my stomach and leg muscles with this low impact strength work-out, aging has made my usual weighted workouts so much harder on my joints and tendons that I had to stop doing them. Thanks Rachel for designing a workout I can do again!
Today was my first day and first time doing wall Pilates. Im doing the 30 day challenge and looking forward to it. I know my positioning was a bit off but hopefully in due time and over the course of the 30 days I make significant improvement. The best part is that I started and finished the videos. I've been interested in wall pilates for a while now but didn't want to be hoodwinked by unprofessional pilates teachers. This series of videos is perfect. Rachel clearly knows what she is teaching and is highly qualified. I've practices pilates for 6yrs now so was pleased to see so much care going into each move. Thank you 🙏🏼

Started day 1 today! Thank you for posting a free version of the 28 day challenge so I can see if it's for me. I've never tried Pilates before. OUCH! My arms hurt from supporting my body, but I'm realizing that I need to strengthen them more than I thought! I really enjoyed the workout and the tips to stay on track. My goal is to become strong again now that I'm in my 50's. I want a fit body that will support me as I age. Thank you again Rachel!
Used to be a high school athlete. Came to college and gained 20 lbs. Started a diet and workout plan 3 days ago. So happy I found this wall palates to add to my daily routine! Day 1 for my wall palates! Definitely felt the workout. Super excited to keep going. Thank you for doing this 🤍

As someone with POTS and recovering from myocarditis, I'm looking for a low impact and gentle work out regimen from home and this looks like it might fit. With at-home workouts being my only option, I usually get overwhelmed with RUclips searches and end up not doing anything. But living in such a severe state of depression and burnout, knowing that moving my body (as insurmountable as it feels) will be my saving grace, I told myself to pick the first video and just do it. I’ve seen wall Pilates on social media. Your 28 day challenge was the first to come up. I watched your intro and did day 1. I also landed on your follow up video talking about the three mistakes to falling away from the routine. They really resonated with me and I’m thankful for your transparency. While weight loss isn’t my goal, being active and beating this depression is.
Here’s to Day 1 and the next 27!

I just did Day 1 of Rachel's Fit Pilates Beginner 28 Day Wall Pilates Challenge. I do what to step up my fitness, but I think the main reason I chose to do this right now, is that I'm all in on something very daring--a different kind of challenge that involves my finances and such, and I see the temptations of freaking out instead of staying the course. My instincts tell me that doing Rachel's 28 Day Challenge at the same time, is the perfect companion to my other challenge--nothing like a physical challenge to boost my sense of self, in all ways! Thank you so much, Rachel!

I did Pilates years ago and loved it! The gyms near me stopped offering it At 72 after many years of various exercising routines my body needed something different . Arthritis has put a crimp in what I can do. A friend recommended this. I enjoyed day one and plan to show up for each day. Thank you!

My Day 1
I am also an Occupational therapist and can not believe how stress (work), medication (tamoxifen), and age (55) has changed my body. I'm doing this beginner challenge to kick my a$$ into gear! Thank you, Rachel, for your dedication.

Why you using tamoxifen are you ok? My mum uses that after finishing cemotherapy and has been 6 years and she says that that made put weight too
@Helena-yz7gg I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. Had a lumpectomy, Went through radiation, then was put on Tamoxifen. Within 2 mos. of taking it, my period completely stopped. Weight gain started. I was not thin to begin with but maintained.
Started this challenge today.......I'm hoping it helps with my constant lower back pain I've had for the last 2 months. Looking forward to being active and moving more freely again

I'm 57 and tried so hard to motivate myself to exercise since January 1st, 2024 ( new year resolution). Failed terribly. A friend advised me to start small. They said its because exercise is considered hard work. Inspired by them yesterday, I found you Rachel, and so my regime begins to get fit and ready for my holiday in Somerset, UK, and to surprise my best friend of the difference I have made to my health. My first wall pilates. Here goes. ❤

Hello! Did my first workout. I'm finding that the back of my legs cramp very quickly and regularly while doing these exercises, but I finished! One day down and feeling good. Thank you!

2 months away from 55 years old. My teenage son got Stage 4 cancer. I was depressed and let myself go! Went through menapause at the same time. Gained 30 pounds. I'm trying not be be hard on myself...But i need to be healthier! Thanks for a very challenging Day 1. On to Day 2!😊😊

Day 1 complete! I’ve been burning out lately physically and mentally. I can’t keep up with housework and hit my heaviest weight of my life, can’t fit into most of my shorts for summer, and my knees and feet have been hurting. I am combining this 28 day workout with a focus on clean eating to try to feel better! I’m a busy mom of 3, but determined for some “me time” so I can be my best self, for them. Thank you for creating this program. Your intro videos were very encouraging!

Rachel I love it that you have no music in the videos. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have menopause-related tinnitus and can’t do exercise videos with music. I have been sick this year and gained 15 pounds, and am facing hand surgeries and am so happy to find Wall Pilates because I can’t do most yoga routines with my hands for the next six months. I also need to build core strength as well as keep my daily 1.5 miles walk going. Thanks so much ❤

When you suggest variations, like “extend your legs further” or “make a V”, it would really help if you would either demo the variation, or describe the position in more detail by saying where relevant body parts go. Like, any time your legs are straighter they are more extended, but either putting your feet higher on the wall and scooting your butt in, or putting your feet lower and moving your butt back would BOTH straighten the legs more, and I can’t tell which is meant. Similarly V’s can be in lots of angles and placements too.

Hi Rachel, just found your channel! Can you please explain what does it mean when you say “imprint” during the first exercises?
Yes! Sorry I missed your comment earlier. An imprinted spine is when you press your low back into the ground, or close to it (not everyone can touch the ground with their low back depending on their anatomy, so that’s why u day or close for it!). When we have an imprinted sounds, the low back loses its natural curve. A neutral spine would be keeping the natural curve. It requires work from your abs to keep an imprinted spine, which is why I cue an imprinted spine often. It also helps prevent ppl from arching in the low back which can be painful! I hope that helps!
And in the first exercise hip rolls- I say roll through imprint- so starting at your tailbone, press each part of your back into the ground- the low back first (that’s the “roll through imprint” part) then the midback and then up until you’re resting on your shoulder blades/upper back.

That was totally not a beginner workout (I’ve been doing reformer Pilates for almost 4 years), but I modified (not lifting my hips for every exercise - just doing the leg circles, etch). Definitely leaves room for improvement! Thanks for the challenge! Day 1, Done! ✅

This is day one for me. Keeping my hips up was the most difficult for me. I had to bring my hands to my glutes to feel the movement. Discouraged me a bit but I pushed through! Proud of myself. Day one- done 🎉
