Go Ichinose would continue to use that bouncy, whimsical style when he went on to later compose the music for Pokemon Gold and Silver with Junichi Masuda and Morikazu Aoki.
I hadn't noticed that commonality before but you're exactly right. I think you notice it most of all in tracks like Goldenrod City and the GSC remix of Kanto Route 1. It's very distinctive and I'm glad he got a full outing for that style in GSC!
I recently learned that the japanese intro song was ported to be the Blue Table's Catch theme. So, I went and mashed that song up with it as best I could... it's pretty cool they put that song on the Game Boy! If anyone wants to hear it, it's my newest upload on my channel!

This may be kind of a hot take, but to me, the main tracks from this ost captures the nostalgia and energy of 1990's pokemon better than anything else
Yes sir yes sir
One of the most lovingly crafted, fun and memorable OSTs of any game boy game
I completely agree! There are so many enjoyable tracks. They even remixed the original Japanese anime intro. That's so cool!
I’m fucking crying right now, I haven’t thought about this game in 20+ years. I was never god at it, but the music always captured me.
13:48 is probably the best track in the ost of this game and it's a nice throwback to the original Japanese Pokémon theme!
I just realized that Catch ‘em and Evolution (Blue Field) at 13:48 is actually the opening theme of the original Japanese Pokémon anime.
me too!!
I never listened to the japanese intro but yes it’s the same !!
I didn't know this until years later when I got to hear it. The fact that they were able to make the sound chip for that theme was amazing.

Just like that, you took me back ~20 years in the past.
The Catch'em and Evolution theme on both fields is tap dance inspiring.
The Red Field is the sound of pure nostalgia at work.
20 years later, I'll be humming the Blue Field Theme, such a core memory.
This was the last game I played on the original physical gameboy. Good times.
I recently learned that the japanese intro song was ported to be the Blue Table's Catch theme. So, I went and mashed that song up with it as best I could... it's pretty cool they put that song on the Game Boy! If anyone wants to hear it, it's my newest upload on my channel!
Yeah, I was amazed when I first found out about that. It's such a cool reference that a lot of non-Japanese players wouldn't get.
Excellent contribution. Thank you!
No problem! Always happy to contribute to Pokemon music fans.
I forgot how much these themes are a part of my soul.
SAMEEEE BROTHA, SAMEEEEE!!!!
That into hits so hard!!!! Just got in on vinyl and I can’t stop spinning it
Bro how’d you get it on vinyl
This is the music in those Sintax bootlegs

Wait the blue field is just a remix of ecruteak and cianwood and red field is a remix of Saffron
The Blue Field theme is a remix of the original Japanese intro theme.
@@SpunkMcKullinsThe catch theme is from the anime. The field theme is from Gen 2.
The 'Options' song is like the Lavender Town theme that got less attention
If anyone ever finds a midi file of the Gengar theme please let me know
Ripping GB/GBC midis is complicated TwT
