    @9:40 if you set the tress to different styles you can select different alder trees so they can be at different growth stages instead of all of the farms being at the same growth stage.

    "Alder Arboretum" could be a great name for that area. Also, on tree farms, you'd have trees growing in yearly batches. Like crop rotation, so have one section with saplings, one as slightly older, and keep doing this taller and taller.
    If you just grow a huge batch of sapling, you'd be awaiting a good four\five years for a tree to big enough for use. If that makes sense. :)

    Biffa I think you should change the road you used in the forestry area to something without a median! It will probably cause heaps of traffic problems in the future with trucks not being able to cross the road.
    Also you should add a post office into Snakus Square! Those poor people have to travel ages to get the post lol

      It's also has very narrow lanes, which i don't like especially in industrial areas. All those big trucks just bumping their wheels up against/over the median.

    Different themes will be awsome. Maybe so with some building packs, like Japan, 20th Century Modern, the medieval hoodhouses you've used in Blightea, not to mention the true skyscrapers that are dropping now. There's also some amazing Arab stuff on the workshop. So many themes, so little time to build with them all.

    Once the city had grown larger, Biffa you need to add the ship building unique factory. There just so much nice bay area, there needs to be a ocean side industrial port district eventually.

    Hey biffa for your forestry would it look good if you changed one of your plantations to cedar but then use Bob to change the cedar trees to bigger alder trees? Then it would look like different stages of growth.

    I wish the game had a way of handling a few specific companies that feel more realistic than the current broad industries. Maybe when you meet certain requirements, you get notices that different companies (say this Mercury delivery company in this example) who want to open a branch office in your city. You then place a location for them that they pay for instead of you (treated like you are issuing a permit instead of building it for them) and they run their business there. You get tax income instead of direct income, and it's more cooperative as opposed to the existing state-owned monopolies already in the game. The better they do in your city, the more they upgrade, request new storefronts in different areas, request to build specialized facilities (such as a sorting center for Mercury) maybe with ship/rail/air access depending on the company, and finally a unique worldwide HQ. Each could have different benefits, and could even add some events that would give some cost/benefit decisions.

    Hey Biffa! I think what happened around the 25:00 mark is that you’re using the decals that are meant to be used with either Parking Lot Roads or BIG’s Parking Lots. BIG’s comes with a clipping remover for removing the clipping when you want to use them outside the roads. You could also try to turn on prop snapping and raising the parking lot decal over the concrete brush? Maybe that helps.

    48:36 it would be really cool to change some of that parking lot to be more like a truck stop instead. With some truck props and such. I think that would make the industrial area feel just that bit more alive.

    With the Thomas reference, I feel obliged to let you know there's actually a really good Thomas the Tank Engine asset for Cities Skylines to add Thomas with Annie and Clarabel to the available passenger trains, either with the TV style face or with a regular smoke box. I think you should add the asset to your city, never address it, and see what happens when Thomas randomly shows up in the background.

    aww Biffa don't delete the trees under your plantations. they affect the "forest area" resource so now the plantations may be producing less than optimal.

      could remove the trees from the plantation asset using BOB. then only show handplaced trees only

    fun fact you can bob away all the trees from the tree plantation but itll still function as a tree plantation. then you can make scenes and add a variety of trees

    @31:54 You've got two Post spawn points because one is set to "spawn" and one is set to "unspawn". You can set the first to do both, and delete the second point. You can also just align both of them, as you did, but my OCD thinks the first way is "cleaner"! 🙂

      I was just going to say the same thing. I like to use different entrances for spawning and despawning when the building has multiple loading bays.

    Vermont Woodlands could become the Vermont Teambers. I really like Vermont because it means Green Mountain.
    I can respect a Furniture and Paper factory, but an island county ABSOLUTELY needs a Lemonade factory. Once you install a designated beach destination that will be the industry of choice!

    Nice video!
    I love how you go with the shape of the land, but somehow make it all fit snugly.
    I'd probably need some grand design well in advance, to fit in everything I want and not run into problems in the future.
    One idea I had from this video is to turn a sloped country into a nice series of terrace "flat" zones with transition zones in between. Like you can have sunken or elevated roads and railways ideal for crossing under and over each other, these transition zones have different heights naturally. So you can have a railway (like a sunken one) on the lower height as the lower collector boundary road and have an artery "high" way on the higher side of the zone. There will be lots of nice looking places where these routes can pass over and under each other.
    These transition zone will be irregular and too messy for structured building, but ideal for parks and service buildings with great accessibility from both sides. Lots of trees are also very smart/realistic on slopes as they keep the ground together and prevent the mudslides that deforestation often causes. So the biggest of these zones could be forestry industry just like in this video.

    @31:44 are the two different spawn points being used to 'receive' one type of mail truck, and 'dispatch' the other? Regardless, it looks like that asset has doors on both sides, more or less opposite each other, so maybe set one of the spawns to the other side of the building? If they're being used as a send/receive on the separate points, you could maybe have it set so it appears as though the depot has a 'drive-thru' set up - they come in one side, drive out the other.

      Yes, if you look one is a 'spawn' point and the other is an 'unspawn' point (the buttons on the right of the dialog box) so that's equivalent to dispatch & receiving as you said. 👍

    The two span points for post in the sorting facility allow you to have inter-city trucks (the bigger ones you picked) and the ones that deliver to the various post offices (the smaller ones you picked) to spawn at different locations at the building. I bet the post offices have the same option. You could pick the smallest trucks to be the post vehicles for just in town delivery/pickup.

    What you did was: 1) draw a curvy road respecting the topography; 2) place your fields and buildings; 3) modify the terrain to fit your needs. I believe that any farmer or ag company would:: 1) flatten the plat; 2) build straight roads; 3) place their fields and buildings; 4) make lots more money for having been so effiicient from the outset.

    Hello Biffa! If I may be so bold to give a suggestion? Would it be interesting to try to find a map that has been made as difficult as possible, for example tiny mountaneous islands far apart, where you have to reach population goals using the soil available to expand the islands to fit the people in. That could be a challenging mini series when you have the time.

    I think you should take advantage of the three different types of forestry trees to have three different ages of tree. Leave one as the 5m trees, but then set the other two to be some of the taller trees, and make it look like different sections were planted at different times.

    In Canada, and I assume in the US as well, the post office is often one of the largest city-centre buildings in large towns or small cities. They're often used by multiple federal government agencies as a single service point. It's too bad that there isn't a central post office asset.

    Love the postal trucks. I'd recommend moving the spawn points on all the industry buildings so that trucks pull completely off the road. I've found that when I do that in my industry areas, the traffic doesn't get blocked by giant trucks turning into the building but staying on the road. Another great episode, as always!

    Brilliant improvement to that residential area... It looked awful before with houses just spawning randomly and loads of empty space. Now it looks like a proper little neighbourhood (albeit very American!)
    Liking how this is developing. It's got real New Tealand vibes and I think you'll suprise yourself with how much you've come on as a city builder since then :-)

    Hi Biffa. To get the houses to upgrade because of the post offices you need to look at the green roads not the colour of the houses. The green roads show the mood boost. I think you need one near the farming area and also the businesses need a post office near the forestry and fishing.

    Tree Anarchy (I think) seems to have a weird bug where it changes the scale of trees when you first select them from the palette; hence the tiny Alder. If you select it again it scales it properly.

    If you switch the trees to a different type then go into Bob you could change the tree to an alder that was bigger that way you could have mature trees as well as new trees.

    I think your issue with placing parking spaces is that you are placing on grass. Try putting down asphalt and then parking spaces.

    I know it's not a tea pun, but I think you should call that industry area Fish and Wood Chips because of the fishing and forestry industries there 😉 😄

    the typ of houses on an island (like manhattan) can be 2 sided, the highrise office cluster, but realy realy fill it up, almost overdo it, and right next to it, the 19 century original city build, old appartment buildings like in the serie friends

    As I was watching about half way through the video, I noticed that raised train track over the rocky cliff face. I don't know why but I think it'd be interesting to build up train line that dead ends at a cliff and beneath there, or around the whole area, make a park for like a memorial for some sort of train crash. It was just one of those little things that popped into my head that might be seen in some random town

    Hey Biffa, when you did the parking for the Post building, you place the parking stalls on the wrong side of the road. I've noticed with that certain road the spaces go on the side with the lights.

    The reason there were two spawn points for post at the distribution center is because one was marked spawn and one was marked despawn. Not sure why, but the default seems to want the trucks to appear and disappear at different points.

    Loving Biffalo Countea! It's got a really nice feel to it... We love a long episode too. Plenty achieved in this one and love the new mods and Mercury stuff.     Do you have to get to a certain level to introduce disaster preparations to the city? Might be worth looking into before the city gets too much larger (assuming you have them turned on, I suppose)
