Best Tutorial There is a very clear part of the tutorial that explains how to quantize the track of the song it is very useful and clear, maybe you can help me find out how to quantize the auto accompaniment in the song, in the Casio CTK 7000 there is this function but I can't find it in this CTX 5000 model Thanks!!
Nice tutorial. And I just want to say well done on being very thorough in your replies to people's questions. I will be buying the CTX 3000 soon and would like to record multi track songs, so be expecting a question or two from me when I do :-)
Hi, very good video. Just one thing: you say one short press on the record button to stop recording, but then you press it twice. I can't work out if you are simply tapping the button or resting your finger on it, but to looks as if you're pressing it twice.
One press is enough to stop the recording process. Sometimes, if you don't get it quite right, slightly off axis, then it might need another press. I hope that helps. All the best.
There's a short video on the phrase pads that might help - ruclips.net/video/DBRctD3RkDU/видео.html. I think the phrase pads have a lot of potential for creativity, so maybe I'll make a follow up video. All the best.
Unfortunately, you can't record any audio into the keyboard. Recording is purely for MIDI tracks. You will have to use a DAW or separate multitrack device if you want to mix anything you record on the keyboard with audio. The CTX5000 has a mic input but that is purely for amplifying live audio (usually a voice) and mixing it with the keyboard. You could then take a line out and recording the output - then you'll have voice and keyboard recorded together. I hope that helps! All the best.
You can record 40,000 notes per song, so it depends on how complex your song is and the tempo. If you played one note every second (60 BPM) that's going to be around 11 hours I think, but you're probably not going to that! 8 notes every second at 60 BPM will last about 8 minutes and is just under 4,000 notes (10% of 40,000). Five minutes per song is probably going to be about right for a complex song.

Yes, track parts can be turned on and off during song playback. 1. Select your song. 2. Press PART so the red light comes on. 3. Change the part group to 1-8 (or 9-16) "SongSolo" - use the +/- arrows to do this. 4. Press PLAY/STOP to start your song. 5. Press a Keypad number (1-8) to turn tracks on and off as the song plays back. For tracks 9-16 the Keypad numbers are the same (1-8). I hope that helps!
Hi there. Please advise on how to do step backing sequence on casio ctx 5000 ? Is it possible to input step by step a chord progression with variations ? or the keyboard is capable to record songs (using styles) only in real time recording ? cheers
The keyboard displays a large selection of chord types, including slash, sus, and dim chords, but there's no stave with notes like on some keyboards. You do have to turn on ACCOMP though, but if you set the keyboard to Full Range Chord mode, and you then mute all the parts in the accompaniment, you can play the full length of the keyboard, like a piano, and it will then display the chords that you're playing. That could be useful if you're learning about chords or teaching chord theory to students. With the accompaniment parts muted, you won't hear that slightly annoying "piano + string + bass" sound that happens when ACCOMP is turned on, before the RHYTHM is setting in motion. I hope that answers your question! All the best.
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thank you Stewart. That worked out great. Now I can use the Accomp function to check and teach myself chord building. Next I just need to figure out how to store it and how to mute the other sounds. Thank you for your time.
Make sure you have recorded something into System Track (00). It could be with RHYTHM accompaniment, or it could just be a track of playing - you can always mute or delete this track later. Then when you come to record the other SOLO tracks (1-16), set it up in record mode and use the START/STOP button (the one in the accompaniment section) to start the recording and you should see the measures ticking over. Then play your SOLO track (1-16), starting at the point you want it to begin. Press the RECORD/STOP button (the one below the display) to end the recording. Sometimes it doesn't always work the first time but try it again and it should work. I hope that helps.
Firstly, make sure your flash drive is formatted to FAT32. Most are like this already, but if not then you can do it on the keyboard (see page. EN-120 in the manual). Make sure you've transferred files off the flash drive before formatting, because it will erase anything that's on there. Secondly, make sure the audio files you want to transfer are in the correct format. In other words, a .wav file recorded at 44.1kHz, 16-bit. It won't playback .mp3 files. Next put the flash drive in your PC and drag the files you want into a folder on the flash drive called MUSICDAT (create one if it's not there already). Finally, put the flash drive into the keyboard and hold down the SONGBANK/AUDIO button, and wait about 1 minute and the screen should say "Mounting". Then the file names should appear and you can use the scroll wheel to select the one you want. Press PLAY/STOP next to the AUDIO button, and it will start playing your recording. You can adjust the volume of the audio volume via the FUNCTION button. See pages EN-42-43 for more details. I hope that helps. Enjoy!
Is there a way to quantize while u record on this because I tried to do it manually but it wouldn't come out the way I recorded it I even tried different note values but nothing
Unfortunately, there isn't an advanced quantize setting like there is in RHYTHM programming. The only other way to make your song recordings quantized is to use step input, but that can be a slow process (EN108-111). Alternatively, try slowing the tempo way down, and then recording in real time - the timing will be tighter when push the tempo back up. To be honest, SONG RECORD is really just a quick sketch pad for me. If I'm doing anything more involved, then it's a DAW sequencer every time. You could use the RHYTHM pattern method as a way of creating song segments - verse, chorus, bridge, etc - and set the quantize in advance. A RHYTHM pattern can be up to 16 measures long, so that could be an option for you. I hope that helps - all the best.
hi, can you record the system track by entering all chords and rythm variation in step recording mode so that when you hit the play button the rythm follows the chords entered ? Thanks
I've struggled to get this to work by following the manual, but when you get to step 4 pressing ACCOMP doesn't do anything. Not sure why or what I'm doing wrong because on page EN-108 it says "In the system track you also can perform step input of Auto Accompaniment chords". Maybe someone else knows the answer, but I'll keep trying!
Ok can you make a video not using these preset rythyms?. Al lot of professionals look at these preset rythyms and songs as for those that need assistance bringing to fruition their musical ideas., Ok they are good for them ,but not really for professional song writers /composers using their own originality from scratch. That being said,is there anyway you could post a video just using the 16 trk sequencer adjusting a metronome, count in and doing simple cut copy and paste edits?. I think it would go a long ways towards professional viewers making a purchasing choice of this product. Thanks
When you record your first song track just set the tempo (using TAP, wheel or type in the number value) and then it should remain at that particular tempo. Hopefully, that will solve the problem, but get back to me with another comment if it's still an issue. By the way, you can save tempo information in your registrations - you may have found that out already. That's useful when performing several songs live, with different tone and rhythm settings etc. A registration is like a snapshot or photograph that you can recall with a quick press of a button. All the best.
Hi Peter, yes you can "mix" your tracks. You have to use the PART/MIXER button so the red light comes on and then use the +/- buttons on the keyboard to change the PART GROUP - see pages EN-64 to EN-67 to see what each one affects. And then within that group you can: turn parts on/off, change volume, pan, reverb, chorus and delay. I hope that helps once you get going with the keyboard. All the best.

It's hard to know why but here's a simple step-by-step method to record a piano-only performance: 1. Press SONG BANK and select an empty user song. 2. Short press (SP) the RECORD/STOP button. 3. If required, press TONE to select a tone - but stage piano is probably already set. Check it's not a drum kit! 4. You don't need to change track, so just leave it on "RecTrkSy". 5. Now start playing and it will record your performance. 6. Press RECORD/STOP button to stop the recording. 7. Press PLAY/STOP in the RHYTHM/SONG CONTROLLER section on the left hand side of the keyboard.
when i record something the tempo is set to 120 bpm and even though i changed it to 85, after recording the track plays at 120 bpm how do i change that to play it to 85 bpm?? also what can i do to loop a recording?
It's possibly because the tempo is determined by the SYS TRACK, so make sure you record something there first, even if you just start the recording but don't play anything. Set the tempo you want and select "RecTrkSy" then start the recording for a bar or two. No when you record SOLO tracks (1-16) the tempo will be the one you set on the SYS TRACK. That should solve it for you - I hope! 😎 There is a REPEAT mode, which just repeats a complete song - it's not really a looper unfortunately. However, in one sense, the accompaniment patterns are loops so you could create something loopy there, or you could use the phrase pads to record loops that you can drop in and out during a performance. The repeat function is indicated by the black dash on the bottom left of the display, alongside the word REPEAT. Again, I hope that helps.
Your other question about deleting - when the user song is on the display, hold down the FUNCTION/EDIT button, and now use the left/right arrows to switch between SONG, WHOLE TRACK, TRACK MEASURE, TRACK EVENT. Then press ENTER several times and use the wheel to select the track, followed by YES to delete a particular track. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusicthank you solved both the delete track and bpm problems!!! i’m still having a hard time figuring out how to use the repeat mode… what i want to do is something like recording a chord progression, loop it and while the chord progression is repeating it self take my guitar and play along the recording… is it possible to do something like this??
@@fossato3829 For this approach try the phrase pads. I've done a couple of videos that will help you hear the potential in Video No. 32 (ruclips.net/video/lNbdfZmbmoU/видео.htmlsi=svkl8wwDXbckCS0F) and also how to create phrases in Video No.9 (ruclips.net/video/DBRctD3RkDU/видео.htmlsi=d83jWwb_t1lhnX8i). A pad set consists of 4 phrases, each can be up to 16 bars/measures, and you can toggle them on and off. Once they get to the end they can be set to loop or not. The loops can be anything - bass, chords, percussion - and the pitches can be determined by the left hand chords or not. Hope that works for you. 😎
No, I'm afraid it doesn't. It has built-in songs and you can mute left and right parts, but it doesn't have the lesson system like on the lighting keyboard (LK-S450). Newer CT-S Casio keyboards will connect to the Music Space App and I think there's some lesson help there, so you can see piano roll and mute left and right parts. I hope that helps. Alternatively, apps like Simply Piano will help with learning irrespective of the instrument you use. I hope that helps. 😎
Only the CT-X700 and CT-X800 have the step up lesson system. It's not available on the CT-S range - just left/right muting. Some of the mini keyboards also have lesson functionality. 😎

Does this model have the Casio Step Up Lessons System?
