CASIO CT-X3000: "Casa de Mambo" by Stewart J Wallace
"Casa de Mambo" is a bright and upbeat solo for Electronic Keyboard by Stewart J Wallace.
On the Casio CT-X3000 and I've just used the mambo preset rhythm (099) and only VAR1 and FILL1 throughout the arrangement. To add some variety the brass parts have been recorded into 2 pads and halfway through there is also a string pad in the left hand. The pads are on a continuous loop so you have to stop them independently from the rhythm.
The main tone is an organ patch I created, and I've also doubled it on the repeat one octave below to create the fuller sound of lower drawer bars. I used two registrations - one with just a single upper layer and the other adds the strings and extra organ. - so ...

Casio CT-X3000: "Wise Words" by Stewart J Wallace

This is the complete piano/keyboard composition which I demonstrated in another video showing how to record and save a Standard MIDI File (SMF) and importing it into a PC. Once you have your SMF you can develop your ideas further on your PC, either in a sequencer or to generate a score ready for publication. If you like the piece then the sheet music is available to purchase from: sheetmusicdir...

With the CT-X I can quickly capture my idea on the sequencer, save it as a Standard MIDI File (SMF), and then load it into my PC to edit and develop further. It takes about 3 seconds to power up the keyboard and then you've got sounds and a sequencer at your fingertips. That's much quicker than having to power up and load a PC - by the time that's ready your inspiration is long forgotten. In th...

The Casio CT-X3000 keyboard and others in the range have useful and usable organ tones, but most of them are designed for jazz, rock and pop. There are only a handful of classical tones that could be useful for accompanying hymns in church or similar settings. Fortunately, editing and tweaking the built-in tones is relatively straightforward and these can then be saved as user tones. Whilst you...

The Casio CT-X 3000 and 5000 keyboards allow you to create your own accompaniment rhythms (styles) - 50 user rhythms on the 3000 and 100 user rhythms. These can be saved onto a USB drive and then loaded into the 700 and 800 keyboards too as user rhythms (up to 10) - but can't be created or edited. In this video I'm just focusing on creating a set of drum rhythms with an intro, 4 variations, 4 f...

44 Casio CTX-3000 - PART 2: AUDIO PLAYBACK
Thanks for this Sir Stewart :) I am planning to buy this keyboard so I am watching how to operate this in advance. God bless you!
EXCELLENT GUIDE!! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the feedback. Even though it's now a few years old, this keyboard has a lot of potential and is quite powerful for a low budget instrument.
when i record something the tempo is set to 120 bpm and even though i changed it to 85, after recording the track plays at 120 bpm how do i change that to play it to 85 bpm?? also what can i do to loop a recording?
It's possibly because the tempo is determined by the SYS TRACK, so make sure you record something there first, even if you just start the recording but don't play anything. Set the tempo you want and select "RecTrkSy" then start the recording for a bar or two. No when you record SOLO tracks (1-16) the tempo will be the one you set on the SYS TRACK. That should solve it for you - I hope! 😎 There is a REPEAT mode, which just repeats a complete song - it's not really a looper unfortunately. However, in one sense, the accompaniment patterns are loops so you could create something loopy there, or you could use the phrase pads to record loops that you can drop in and out during a performance. The repeat function is indicated by the black dash on the bottom left of the display, alongside the word REPEAT. Again, I hope that helps.
Your other question about deleting - when the user song is on the display, hold down the FUNCTION/EDIT button, and now use the left/right arrows to switch between SONG, WHOLE TRACK, TRACK MEASURE, TRACK EVENT. Then press ENTER several times and use the wheel to select the track, followed by YES to delete a particular track. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusicthank you solved both the delete track and bpm problems!!! i’m still having a hard time figuring out how to use the repeat mode… what i want to do is something like recording a chord progression, loop it and while the chord progression is repeating it self take my guitar and play along the recording… is it possible to do something like this??
@@fossato3829 For this approach try the phrase pads. I've done a couple of videos that will help you hear the potential in Video No. 32 (ruclips.net/video/lNbdfZmbmoU/видео.htmlsi=svkl8wwDXbckCS0F) and also how to create phrases in Video No.9 (ruclips.net/video/DBRctD3RkDU/видео.htmlsi=d83jWwb_t1lhnX8i). A pad set consists of 4 phrases, each can be up to 16 bars/measures, and you can toggle them on and off. Once they get to the end they can be set to loop or not. The loops can be anything - bass, chords, percussion - and the pitches can be determined by the left hand chords or not. Hope that works for you. 😎
Hi Stewart THANK YOU!! Excellent guides and info! 🙏🙏🙏👍
No problem - glad the info has been useful. 😎
The gaps in between keys on my ctx 3000 are wide just like yours too. Everything works fine but I'm quite bothered that dust will accumulate overtime with these gaps on the keys.
what mobile app can be use to record directly from the keyboard?
There are so many options and it depends on what phone you've got (Android or Apple) and what you want to record. If you're just after simple recording then "Dolby ON" for Android is easy to operate. But if you're after multitrack recording on your phone (or tablet) then there's Cubase, n-Studio, Bandlab and several others for Android - Garageband is Apple only. These apps can all record several tracks of audio and also add their own built-in instrument sounds on other tracks. I hope that helps. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusicWhat do i need to record my ctx 3000 using Dolby on? Thankyou for your time.
@@Kefani-ks9pd Once you've got Dolby ON installed you can just click record on your phone and start playing. But that will pick up other sound in the room, so instead you can connect directly the audio output from the keyboard to the phone. On the CTX-3000 that means a large jack plug goes into the headphone output and on the other end a mini jack plug can go into your phone. Now you should be able to do a direct recording. On the keyboard make sure the speakers are turned on so you can hear it - hold down FUNCTION button and then scroll to find the setting to keep the speakers turned on even when something is plugged into the headphone output. Of course, there are many further ways to record your keyboard, but if you're just starting out then this method will get you going. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thank you so much!
Just my opinion based on the video. Sound on ctx sounds fuller compared to cts.
Do you something that instead of expression pedal i could use a knob instead?
Take a look at this video to see if it's what you are trying to do: ruclips.net/video/_AnmbkS4veU/видео.htmlsi=r8TVwSOEdvVKLxa- I'm using an external MIDI controller which has some knobs that can be set to various MIDI messages, such as volume and FX. 😎
Good video but im having an issue idk why but when i edit the tracks that I've recorded the settings save like normal but when i play it back i hear a different instrument in place of what ive heard then it continues like normal(ex i recorded one part with strings i play it back i hear a piano in place of the first note then the strings comes back ) idk if its a glitch or if its a software issue but i know that shouldn't happen
How to recordmyhis clean. Minus has hiss sound.
Just got my ctx3000 a week ago. Thanks for the turtorials. God Bless!!!
How can you lower the volume of the upper layer?
How to change layer volume: 1. Short press PART/MIXER button and make sure the screen says "1-9 Keyboard". If it doesn't use the -/+ buttons to change and then short press PART/MIXER again to exit. (Red LED goes out.) 2. Long press PART/MIXER button and now you're in mixer mode and you can adjust settings for the 9 live keyboard parts. Parts 1-4 are the layers - U1, U2, L1, L2. 3. The up and down arrows on the keypad will select the parameter you can change = Part ON/OFF, Volume, Pan, Rev, Chorus, Delay. Select volume. 4. The left and right arrows on the keypad will change the part you are changing. U1 is part 1, U2 is part 2, L1 is part 3, L2 is part 4. 5. Use the wheel to adjust the value of the parameter. I hope that helps.
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thank you for your effort. You are very kind. I will try it out. Regards.
Great job as always Master Stewart. I would like to ask you about the level of midi manipulation someone can achieve from CTX keyboard: after loading a midi archive into the keyboard, there's a way to switch the tone of the midi tracks? I would like to switch the GM tones played at the midi to edited tones...😅 Sorry for the grammar errors, greetings from Brasil!
Hello Mr. Wallace. When I record myself playing and I want to listen to it when pressing the play -stop bottom it does not playback my song. Instead it play's a drum sound and I don't know how to get rid of it. Maby you can help me ?
It's hard to know why but here's a simple step-by-step method to record a piano-only performance: 1. Press SONG BANK and select an empty user song. 2. Short press (SP) the RECORD/STOP button. 3. If required, press TONE to select a tone - but stage piano is probably already set. Check it's not a drum kit! 4. You don't need to change track, so just leave it on "RecTrkSy". 5. Now start playing and it will record your performance. 6. Press RECORD/STOP button to stop the recording. 7. Press PLAY/STOP in the RHYTHM/SONG CONTROLLER section on the left hand side of the keyboard.
My bass doesn’t sync with the drum! Help me please
Hello! Could you help me please? When I create my own rhythm the bass and accords aren’t playing with the drums together! They don’t play at all, only drums.
It could be several issues and without seeing your keyboard it's hard to work out what's happening. A few things to check: 1. Have the bass and accompaniment parts been recorded? Make sure you are in record not edit mode. 2. Check the mixer. Perhaps the volume is down or parts are muted. 3. Press the ACCOMP button the keyboard otherwise you'll only get drums and it won't respond to left hand chords. I hope that helps or you've solved it already!
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic it’s working now, thank you so much!
Can you record rhythm and the righthand at the same time?
Love this Stewart. Hope you're still recording.
Yep, still doing writing and recording some new music - I've added some to this channel. Glad you like this song. 🙏😎
hi stewart i’m new to this keyboard and i need your help!!! i edited some tones but i would like to “reset” them like i never edited them, with the factory settings. what should i do??
The main tones are preset, and when you edit and write a new version then the original still remains. You new version will become one of the user tones. I hope that helps. 😎

Thank you very much, your tutorials are very useful. I want to know in 4/4 beat 2 bar rhythm, can I copy only 2nd bar into 4/4 beat 1st bar. Please confirm. I want to separate 2 bars.
Mmm🤔. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to work in exactly the way you want. However, there is some freeware (with suggested donation) called ReStyle which allows you to do some moving and splitting of AC7 RHYTHM files that can't be done directly on the keyboard. Check out this RUclips video from Chandler Holloway, who describes what the software can do - ruclips.net/video/0HgqYbe31v4/видео.htmlsi=fFwMV4lGjc2x1-uz I don't think it's exactly what you're after, but it does give some extra functions that might help you. 😎

This was very useful. Thanks for doing all of these. You've made it a lot for enjoyable to use the ct-x3000.
thanks for your help on the Casio X3000. I just bought it for my daughter.
Great explanation. I was using it incorrectly and didn't understand what was happening until watching the video. Thank you!
Great video. I had a cz101 back in the day but unfortunately the batteries leaked and ruined it. This brought back a lot of memories of that keyboard. You've done more to sell me on the more modern casio keyboards than anything casio has done. They should support you.
One thing that is confusing to me is that some sources call middle c, c3 and others insist it is c4. Very much enjoyed this and all your other videos.
Thought I would mention that my new ct-x3000 came with firmware 1.09 It is not listed on the casio firmware page as the last one there is 1.08. Not sure what the changes are.
Any recommendations for similar software for IOS?
Very nice!
This entire series is excellent and as a new owner very helpful. I hope you will continue to offer videos on the ct-x 3000!
Hello Wallace, thank you soo much for all your videos on the ctx3000, they are very helpful. God bless you! I wanted to know how you record your sound from your keyboard to your camera and and it sounds very clear. And also your voice …what equipments do I need? And how do I bring them together? A written instruction or a video will be really helpful, I’ve bring trying to figure this out.
Very enjoyable performance. Was looking at the 1000v but your videos convinced me to go with the ct-x3000. Looks more appropriate for what I want to do and the 5 pin midi is a plus. The voice synthesis of the 1000v looks fun but of limited use. Thanks for your videos!
Thanks for your comments and feedback. But just a heads up...the CT-X doesn't have 5-PIN MIDI. Like most cheap keyboards and even the expensive ones, most only have USB-MIDI, which is fine if you're just connecting to a PC, but useless if you want to directly connect keyboards together - that's what you can do with 5-PIN MIDI. USB-MIDI requires either a PC or MIDI HOST box, which I feature in some other videos (ruclips.net/video/ADx5OkMxoxg/видео.htmlsi=GRWo8YxcBEeAaKKl) or you can use an Android app (ruclips.net/video/_AnmbkS4veU/видео.htmlsi=EwbBUw6XSm_zhs1E). By the way, the CTS1000V has a USB-MICRO socket which is another bit of a pain, because most other keyboards have USB Type A sockets (commonly found on printers). I hope that helps in making your decision. Thanks again for all your comments. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thanks, I realized that soon after commenting. Was confusing it with another keyboard I was looking at. Kind of a bummer but not a deal breaker. I do have a host box. Thanks
This was awesome!
Thank you for continuing to support the ct-x3000. I have just received mine and your videos are extremely helpful.
That's great! It might take a bit of time to get familiar with all the features of the keyboard, but keep going - it's worth it in the end. All gear has pros and cons, so don't be put off if it takes a little while. Other keyboards might do this or that better (or worse) than the CT-X, but at the end of the day as long you are making music that's the main thing. 😎
I'm late to the x-3000 but just ordered mine and really looking forward to your video series. Thanks for doing them.
hi just subscribed..i'm on the brink of buying a keyboard but still hanging between casio ctx3000 and korg ek50..enjoying the videos
The Korg sounds good in online videos, and the professional arrangers are very good - but expensive. I can't say which is better, but if I compare the CTX with my (expensive) Yamaha PSR-SX900 then for instant gratification and working out ideas quickly the CTX wins. But for more in-depth playing the PSR is much more professional in both sound and features. Hope that helps! 😎
Good morning Stewart , Can I ask if we record a style and lead voice say strings , Can the CTX 3000/5000 split out the instruments into separate channels for a daw ie those being used in the style ie drum, bass and style voices and then right hand lead voices etc etc ?
Yes, as a MIDI file. You can then import that into the DAW sequencer and then edit it and change instruments. I did it in a recent video showing how to record the MIDI file and then import it to create music score - but the basic process would be the same. Check it out here - ruclips.net/video/eDNGHVB7p1o/видео.htmlsi=lqCJ4zSFjJJz5rX4 Of course, if you're intending to maintain the sounds from the Casio then that's a different technique, starting with recording the audio (into a DAW or elsewhere). Then once you've got an audio recording, you can use AI to separate the audio into different tracks. There are various apps but I've messed around with Moises and it's pretty good - www.moises.ai Hope that helps you out. All the best. 😎
Thanks. very nicely explained, but still so confusing, could you please do one more video for song editing in more detail.
I''ll try to go a little deeper in future videos. The Casio sequencer is OK but for more flexibility then an app on a device (laptop/tablet/phone) is usually give you more in-depth editing and flexibility. 😎
Nicee
Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Please How to connect mic
@@TurbanKingStar Unfortunately, the CTX-3000 doesn't have a mic input, but the CTX-5000 does. However, if you want to mix the sound of the CTX-3000 keyboard with the mic then the best option is probably just to use a separate mixer and plug both the mic and the keyboard into that. If you try to feed the mixer output back through the Casio then there is a small delay in processing the incoming sound, so that's not ideal - better to feed the mixer output (i.e. your mic and keyboard mix) into a separate PA/combo speaker. Hope that helps. 😎
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thank you Very Much. For Very good Info or Help
Very Nice
Thanks so much for the feedback - much appreciated. 😎
Can you change registration memory number with an auto fill in? From 1 to 2 with a fill in. Or you really have to press fill in before pressing the reg memory?
No - it doesn't have AUTOFILL like on Yamaha keyboards. You can switch pattern variations between registrations, but you'll still need to press the fill button if you need a fill between the patterns. Alternatively you could program a pattern that is like a fill but is actually a variation, though I don't really see the point and you would be losing the number of variations! Another possibility for variety is to create some fill-like patterns as phrases that you can insert over the top of a variation.
Do we have a way to adjust the volume of upper 2 sound/layer
Yes, it's through the PART/MIXER button. Long press (LP) the button to get into the MIXER and make sure you're in the keyboard part section - it should say MIXER KEYBOARD in small lettering on the bottom line of the display. Use the UP (5) & DOWN (2) arrows on the keypad to scroll through the various parameters - PART, VOLUME, PAN, REV SEND, CHO SEND, DLY SEND. The LEFT (1) & RIGHT (3) arrows on the keypad will select the parts. U2 is simply part 2 and on the display you should now see a small number 2 in a box flashing. Now just select the parameter (VOLUME) and change the value using the wheel or -/+ buttons, or press NUM (0) on the keypad and then type a 3-digit value. If you save a registration then each one can have different settings, so that's very useful. I hope that helps!
