The capabilities of the Casio CT-X keyboard never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for your video that simplifies the registrations and expression pedal. One thing I unintentionally discovered with the CT-X 3000, is the ability to sequence a VST instrument using the rhythm editor. Mabey I'll make a video to demonstrate that someday. Thank you Stewart, I learn much from your videos. 😊
You've done a great job on the music for your videos and you set the rather sombre tone on the 70's explosion video effectively. Your blend of Casio CT-X and VST sounds works really well too. Also, I'm pleased you find some use for my how-to videos too. If you haven't already seen it, check it out the one with the MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller (ruclips.net/video/HCSiIdVepSY/видео.html) - using an expression pedal to control CCs on a CT-S gives the keyboard way more tonal variety. All the best.
@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thanks for watching my video projects, Stewart. I've had some media arts and graphic design training in the past that helped. Plus, I'm getting better with my video editing software. I'll check out the video you recommended soon. Many thanks, Rob J.
That was great!! Thank you is it possible to select between the layers when using a expression peddle so piano only strings only and both when you have the peddle in the middle thank you so so interesting!!!!!! Joe
Hi Joe. Thanks for the question . You can only set layers to respond (on) or not (off) to the expression pedal. To fade between 2 sounds would require one of them to decrease and the other increase in volume when the pedal moves from one position to another - in other words negatively. However, tones can be edited to respond to negative velocity, so the harder the keys are pressed the softer the volume.
The simple switch type pedal that comes with the keyboard is OK for that job, and you could get yourself a piano-style pedal for sustain - if that's suitable to you style of playing. Make sure the pedal polarity is compatible with the Casio (it's opposite to Yamaha keyboards) - some pedals have switches to change polarity. From experience, go for a recognised make and not a cheap alternative - cheap ones are not usually robust or reliable. If you like to play organ sounds then put an expression pedal into Pedal 2 and use the switch into Pedal 1. Pedal functions are saved in registrations, so the switch pedal could be sustain for a piano tone in one registration memory and drum start/stop in another one. A pedal can also be used to switch registrations (see page EN-70). A constant issue for me is keeping the pedals in position. Gaffa / duck tape is OK, but often needs to be replaced. I've found that the rubber mats that prevent objects sliding around quite good, and it doesn't mark the floor. Hope that helps.
Take a look at this video to see if it's what you are trying to do: ruclips.net/video/_AnmbkS4veU/видео.htmlsi=r8TVwSOEdvVKLxa- I'm using an external MIDI controller which has some knobs that can be set to various MIDI messages, such as volume and FX. 😎
EXCELLENT GUIDE!! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the feedback. Even though it's now a few years old, this keyboard has a lot of potential and is quite powerful for a low budget instrument.

Hi Stewart what pedal would you recommend for controlling rhythm and drums?

Do you something that instead of expression pedal i could use a knob instead?
