Thank you for making more of these videos. I'm 68 years old and while I'm not an exceptional keyboard player I have, along with your help, have a better understand of the Casio ctx-3000 and learning to make music! Thanks sir.
Thanks for your video, Sir, I have problem to save in phrase pad with loop on. Notes saved in phrase pad in loop on shall play in loop on condition, once the system is restarted the loop on gets erased. can you please tell how to keep loop on condition saved even after restart. Thanks
Very informative demo, Stewart. I have one phrase I created in my CT-X that is similar to a Tangerine Dream Rubycon style sequence pattern. Very cool effect.
If only TD had a CT-X back in the day! I saw them live in London and the stage was filled with gear. There must have been technical issues from time to time, and yet somehow they knew the gear so well the music flowed seamlessly.
@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thanks for your reply to my comment, Stewart! That's great! You actually saw Tangerine Dream live. I did have an opportunity to see TD back in 1989 (Sarasota FL), but I had car trouble and couldn't make it. I believe Paul Hasslinger was with them at that time.
Hi there , could you do tutorial re below The CASIO CT X3000 / 5000 sequencer has an option that allows you to quickly record any song, even if you don't know how to play. The fact is that in a completely empty (clean) sequencer, it is possible to first record all the necessary chords of the song in step mode, then select the overdub recording, select the desired style and start the starting chord. And now you just have to wait for the recording to reach the end of the song. During overdubbing, you can click on the desired variations and fills in the right place and it will also be recorded in the song. In this case, you no longer need to press the chords, the song will play according to the chords you entered earlier in the sequencer. I think this is a very cool feature of the sequencer, which will allow you to quickly prepare a template for any song. Entering the step sequencer mode: Selected a song -> long press Function -> number 1 -> Enter -> Enter -> button Accomp -> registration bank 1 -> number 1 (set a step in one measure) - enter a chord - enter a chord ....... Chords must be entered in every measure. thanks
How in the world do you change the volume of the phrase pads on the CTX3000???? I have a Casio MZx500, with 16 phrase pads, can't use them, can't set a volume level. I have velocity of the pads but too hard to control the volume from the velocity.
On the CTX-3000 via the MIXER it's possible to turn pads on/off, adjust the volume, reverb send, chorus send, and delay send. Check out pages EN-64 to EN67 in the manual and then lie down in a darkened room - haha! Firstly, a LONG PRESS (LP) on the MIXER button gets you into the mixer. Look at the bottom of the screen and it should now say MIXER, followed by either the word Keyboard, Rhythm, Song System, Song Solo, or MIDI in. You want it to say MIXER KEYBOARD. If it does then skip the next paragraph. (If it doesn't say MIXER KEYBOARD then you need to SHORT PRESS (SP) the PART/MIXER button so that the red LED light is lit. Using the NO/- and YES/+ buttons on the keypad you can now switch between Keyboard, Rhythm, Song System, Song Solo, and MIDI in. Once you've got it on Keyboard, SP the PART/MIXER again to turn the red LED light off.) With the red LED light off, you should now be in MIXER MODE. The screen must read MIXER KEYBOARD. Above that are 9 numbers which are underneath little stacks of lines that represent the volume level of each part within this group. Use the left(1) and right(3) arrows on the keypad to select each part in turn. Parts 6-9 are the four phrase pads, and so move to the one you want to adjust and the number should now be flashing. (Page EN-65 has a chart which shows you which parts are 1-5.) Use the up(5) and down arrows on the keypad to select the parameter you want to adjust. The first one probably says "on Part", which is a way of turning a part on/off or muting. Move down the list and you should now come across volume, reverb send, chorus send, and delay send. When you're on the volume parameter, you can simply use the DATA WHEEL to adjust the volume. And that's how you adjust the volume of each phrase pad! Let me know how you get on. All the best.
I have a few questions for you. Are we able to record audio into these phrase pads? Can audio be integrated into the sequence tracks in any way on this keyboard? Is it possible to use what is recorded onto the phrase pads into the sequence tracks? How can I program individual triplicate notes or chords into the keyboard? Lastly, can microphones or any other audio be sequenced onto this keyboard's tracks?
Q1 & Q2. The phrase pads are MIDI only and there's no audio recording in either the sequencer or phrase pads. You can playback an audio file from a USB flash drive or play audio through the audio input. You can also playback MIDI files. Q3. The phrase pads can be triggered whilst a song is playing, but are independent. You can record them into the sequencer system track, but not the solo tracks 1-16. Q4. You can record in step time - i.e. notes and chords step by step. I made a video which might help with that - ruclips.net/video/WhBk9hoWlVw/видео.html Q5. Again, there's no audio recording directly into the keyboard. The CT-X5000 does have a mic input, but that's not really what you're looking for. I hope that helps, but ask again if you still have questions. All the best.
The manual doesn't help either. I am more fluent with the keyboard now I've rewired my brain! I've now spent some time with my new CT S1000V and the user interface is a big improvement. But because it's more streamlined, with fewer front panel controls, I miss reaching out to change some parameters immediately, such as octave. The vocal synthesis though is surprisingly gratifying. A few more days and I'll get to grips with this one. All the best.
I always set the pads to have the chord syncronization turned of, but when i restart the keyboard, that option is always turned on!! Did anyone know how to save the setings of the pads???
1. Press FUNCTION/EDIT button and then press the right arrow (3 on the keypad) 2 times. 2. Press ENTER (keypad 6). 3. Turn the data WHEEL to select the phrase pad set you want (1-25). 4. Hold down EXIT (keypad 4). If you select phrase pad set 25 and you haven't recorded anything new, you should hear now some rhythm patterns on each of the 4 pads. I hope that helps!
Good evening! I am from the Ukraine and I apologize for my knowledge of the English language. I recently bought Casio CT-X3000 and now I am trying to understand its features. I liked your video! And, tell me, is it possible to record phrase pads from a USB flash drive? Can I ask you for some of your phrase pad files to upload them to the synthesizer?
You're English is perfect - I can do a little French, Spanish, German, and even some Arabic - mostly "hello" and "goodbye". Your English is so much better! You can't record externally in song mode or into the phrase pads. It records only key presses made on the keyboard itself - which is a shame really. So importing a MIDI phrase you've got on your flash drive into the phrase pads is not possible. At least, I've not found a way to do it. I don't have any phrase pad ideas at the moment but I am thinking of creating some RHYTHMS that I could put out. Watch this space! Good luck with the keyboard and all the best for 2022.
Hello Master Stewart! Hey, I messed around with the pads a long time ago... I´d like to ask you something, can I record a phrase pad (for instance at P1) and overdub the recording at the same pad?
Yes, it will just keep looping and you can add new parts as it goes round. Be careful not to have any notes overlapping at the end of the loop and the start though, otherwise some notes could be cut off.
Thank you for making more of these videos. I'm 68 years old and while I'm not an exceptional keyboard player I have, along with your help, have a better understand of the Casio ctx-3000 and learning to make music! Thanks sir.

No problem. Thanks for the feedback - good to know it was useful.
Excellent, thank you for sharing.
De nada 👍

Hi Stewart
Do you have any videos that show how to transfer rhythms from a computer to the casio ctx5000?
Thank you.
I always set the pads to have the chord syncronization turned of, but when i restart the keyboard, that option is always turned on!! Did anyone know how to save the setings of the pads???
Sir please, assuming I want to play pad 4 of phrase pad 25, how do I go about it please. Because I can only access that of phrase pad 1. Thank you.
@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thanks

Hello Master Stewart! Hey, I messed around with the pads a long time ago... I´d like to ask you something, can I record a phrase pad (for instance at P1) and overdub the recording at the same pad?
The goal for doing that would be a string phrase, but recording each voice of the violins above the P1 (all of them with a violin voice).
Yes, it will just keep looping and you can add new parts as it goes round. Be careful not to have any notes overlapping at the end of the loop and the start though, otherwise some notes could be cut off.
Thank you, I did something like that a couple days ago and it worked fine.
Is there a video for using a pedal?
Yes, there's a video here: ruclips.net/video/2pDWNVIWPYQ/видео.html
I hope it helps but if not send a comment and I'll try to answer it. All the best.
