  • The Casio CT-X3000 and CT-X5000 will allow you to save and load various types of data - Tones, Rhythms, Recordings (including MIDI), Registrations, and Phrase Pads. Simply plug a USB flash drive into the back of the keyboard.
    To save audio will require a separate recording device or software on your PC or phone. Here I will show you how to connect the keyboard to a recording device, and then how to replay files directly from the USB flash drive or from your recording device via the Audio In connection.
    In this video I create a backing track for an original keyboard piece I compose called "Shadows". It's available to purchase from Sheet Music Plus.

    Great info' and impressive sound quality as in all your videos Stewart. Is the X3000 connected to monitors/speakers?

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  5 месяцев назад +1

      It's usually just the direct sound from the keyboard, sometimes with a slight amount of compression but that's all. I find the live keyboard sound is pretty full and I expect the CTX-5000 is even better with a larger speaker setup though I've never tried it. 😎

    Hi Nikos. It's difficult to say why exactly - but check the volume levels are turned up on both the smartphone and the keyboard itself. Also, check your lead is working. Often, it's something really obvious and yet easily missed. Try connecting your smartphone to another speaker if you can. I'm sure there's a really simple answer! All the best.

    what mobile app can be use to record directly from the keyboard?

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  11 дней назад

      There are so many options and it depends on what phone you've got (Android or Apple) and what you want to record. If you're just after simple recording then "Dolby ON" for Android is easy to operate. But if you're after multitrack recording on your phone (or tablet) then there's Cubase, n-Studio, Bandlab and several others for Android - Garageband is Apple only. These apps can all record several tracks of audio and also add their own built-in instrument sounds on other tracks. I hope that helps. 😎

      @@StewartWallaceSJWMusicWhat do i need to record my ctx 3000 using Dolby on? Thankyou for your time.

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  4 дня назад

      @@Kefani-ks9pd Once you've got Dolby ON installed you can just click record on your phone and start playing. But that will pick up other sound in the room, so instead you can connect directly the audio output from the keyboard to the phone. On the CTX-3000 that means a large jack plug goes into the headphone output and on the other end a mini jack plug can go into your phone. Now you should be able to do a direct recording. On the keyboard make sure the speakers are turned on so you can hear it - hold down FUNCTION button and then scroll to find the setting to keep the speakers turned on even when something is plugged into the headphone output. Of course, there are many further ways to record your keyboard, but if you're just starting out then this method will get you going. 😎

    The keys of this instrument CT x5000 work very loudly. Casio - shame and disgrace!
    But how to copy composed songs to USB? Does anyone know the answer? If so, thanks for the information.

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  Год назад +1

      Yeah - the keyboard is poor but you can get around that by controlling it from a better keyboard. Either via a DAW on a PC or with a MIDI-USB HOST device. This video shows the setup required - ruclips.net/video/9JJH9XcwwZE/видео.html
      Regarding saving your songs that's relatively straightforward. Put the USB drive into the keyboard, wait until it's finished "Mounting" and then press FUNCTION and navigate to the Media menu. Once you're there you can load and save various types of data, including songs. This video has further details - ruclips.net/video/pRUnH8F98oU/видео.html
      Despite the lousy keyboard, the sounds are pretty good on the keyboard and can be edited and user rhythms can be created - it's a little confusing, but it can be done. Hopefully, when Casio bring out the next CTX keyboards they will improve the keyboard and make sure the manual is easy to understand!
      I hope that helps. All the best.

      @@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thank you for your answer. What I copy, however, are files only for archiving. Nothing else can be done with these MRF files. I would like to listen to the created song on my computer and save it there.

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  Год назад

      @@ANTYDEMOKRATA-7615 No problem - you need to save a SMF ("Standard MIDI File"). So follow these steps - press FUNCTION, press L arrow 3 times. Select Media and press ENTER. Wait while it's "Mounting". When it's finished, press R arrow once and you'll see "Save", press ENTER. Press R arrow 4 times until you see "MltR SMF" and then press ENTER. Now select the user song you want to save. Now you'll be saving a SMF which should open up in any DAW/Sequencer. If you're using VSTi sounds these may be different to your keyboard sounds, but if you are controlling the CTX then it should select the correct sounds. I hope that helps - let me know if you're still having issues. All the best.

    I can't find help for how to save music from the casio to my PC. I use audacity as a song editor, and the manual doesn't really help

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  Год назад

      One feature that's missing from the CT-X is the ability to export audio directly - so that means a little bit of extra gear and setup. On your PC you should have a mic in socket and you just need to connect the audio/headphone output from the Casio to the mic input on the PC. If you have an audio interface for the PC that will give you better results and functionality - e.g. line and mic inputs. In Audacity the Audio Setup tab will allow you to select your audio input under Recording Device - in other words the input where the Casio is connected into the PC. This is a link to the Audacity page - support.audacityteam.org/basics/recording-your-voice-and-microphone. I hope that helps - all the best.

    Hello! I would like to ask you for help regarding the management of the ctx 3000. I would like to save my prepared songs and multitracks to a USB flash drive. Unfortunately, it does not save all audio tracks to the USB flash drive. Why is this?

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  2 года назад +1

      The CTX doesn't save audio - it will only playback audio - so you will need to use an external device of some kind to "capture" the audio. It could be a dedicated audio recorder (such as the Roland) or your phone/tablet with an audio app or an audio interface connected to your PC (see. video no. 39 - ruclips.net/video/b7_QPZJg2b0/видео.html).
      Once you've captured it by one of those methods you can then save it on the USB flash drive as a .wav file and play it back on the CTX. Check out this video (no. 16) again from about 3 minutes 40 seconds and I hope it makes sense!
      All the best.

Providing there's output coming from the smartphone and the cable is plugged into audio in on the back of the keyboard, you should be good to go. Hey my screen is stuck on mounting why is that ?

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  5 месяцев назад

      Is it the screen that is frozen or just a very slow USB drive? If you've got loads of other data on the USB drive it can take L-O-N-G time to finish the process - that happens to me. If you can transfer the data from the USB drive onto your PC or somewhere elsewhere, then it might be a good time to format it on the CTX. Also, the usual turn on and off again might solve the stuck screen issue if that's the problem. Hope something solves the problem for you. All the best. 😎

    How to record keyboard to smartphone??

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад +1

      Assuming you have a phone with a headphone jack socket (i.e. NOT a newer iPhone) then you'll need a stereo jack-to-jack cable. One end needs to be 6.35mm (large jack plug) and that goes into the PHONES/ OUTPUT socket on the keyboard. Plug the 3.5mm plug into your phone headphone socket. You will also need a audio recorder app on your phone - there are plenty to choose from. Experiment with the volume control on the keyboard to get a decent level from the keyboard to the phone. Also, turn on the speakers on your keyboard so you can hear it. Start recording on the app, and start playing the keyboard. That's it! Enjoy.

      @@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Hi, thank you for your explanation, but phones nowadays are ditched the headphone jack socket, only USB type C. Do you have any way to record with a type C port?

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад +1

      @@chashimijdenavich7290 The problem with USB C is that you need to turn an analogue signal coming out from the keyboard into a digital signal into the phone (ADC = Analogue to Digital Convertor). There are USB C adaptors which will give you a headphone jack socket, but the ones I've looked at appear to be only for converting the digital signal coming out of the phone (DAC = Digital to Analogue Convertor), so won't work.
      I prefer to use a separate audio recording device, like the Zoom or Edirol ones, which have line inputs and microphones, and are useful for other situations too.
      Let me know how you get on. It would be great to share your knowledge with others. All the best.

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад

      They are noisy, but keyboards I've got from other manufacturers can also be noisy. I don't really notice in a live situation, with the speakers turned on and the main sound running through a PA. It's only at home, when there's not much background noise that you notice the sound of the keys.
      They are not textured keys, like on the Casio pianos, so yes they are smooth, but again I wouldn't say that they are more slippery. I would say they feel the same as other plastic, unweighted keyboards. Hope that helps.
