    I'm late to the x-3000 but just ordered mine and really looking forward to your video series. Thanks for doing them.

    I've just ordered the CT X 3000 and discovered your channel, and downloaded the manual that you linked in a comment I read. I see you have loads of CT X 3000 videos and I will be watching each and every one before I even glance at the manual, so that I have half a chance of understanding it :-)

    Your voice is so relaxing to listen too. And the explanation is really great and easy to understand even if you never touched a syntheziser.

    Thank you for (all) these videos. Very clear instructions and at a perfect pace. You're tutorial style is perfect. No waffle or chatter-just clear, instructions delivered in a truly professional manner. I'm working my way through them. If I hadn't found your channel, I would have sent the keyboard back. Even with your wonderful calm instructions, I still think this CT-X5000 is the most un-user-friendly arranger keyboard I've encountered.

      Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad the videos are helping - they help me when I forget what to do. Although the awkward nature of the keyboard processes can frustrate, it can lead you to overcome them eventually - trust me. Even traditional instruments, like a violin or clarinet, have their idiosyncrasies, but eventually you can make beautiful - or make people weep for wrong reasons! All the best.

    Hi Stewart thank you very much for these videos. I am non-sighted so I have no vision at all I am considering buying this keyboard I did look at one in a shop but they could not tell me if it is possible to balance the levels of 2 instruments if you where layering. For example I like to layer piano and strings this is the default when you press the dual button but I would like to decrease the volume of the strings do you know if this is possible on the 3000 and if so do you need to be able to see the screen to do this. I have found this keyboard very screen based but it does seem to tick my other boxes which are battery powered decent tones and with a aux in thank you very much Stewart Joe

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  Год назад

      Thanks for the question and sorry for the delay to my reply. Yes, the volume between the layers can be adjusted, so you can get the balance you prefer. It's also possible to control the volume settings with an expression pedal, so you can even increase and decrease as you play. However, it will all require making adjustments on the screen - but this is true for many similar keyboards. I have a PSR-SX900 which has a touch screen, with even more menus and submenus for adjusting the settings!
      You could connect a MIDI controller with sliders/knobs that could control volume (and several other parameters), but again it's going to require setting up via the screen and connecting devices together. If you can get help with setting it up then at least you'd have some tactile interface with the keyboard.
      You could have a bank of preferred tones and volume settings which would at least give you access at the touch of the button. I've created a bank of 8 registrations with piano and string layers where the string volume gets gradually softer - registration 1 is maximum volume and then 2-8 have reduced string volume. If you want to try it out, the file can be accessed with this link:
      drive.google.com/file/d/1IjoaVSIJF_gT3Cu-qFaRnHgATSrFiKtK/view?usp=sharing
      I hope that helps - let me know if you need further advice/assistance.

      @@josephdeery4931 The mixer section starts at page EN-64, but it's not the greatest literary work so will probably take some time to understand. I'm just finishing another video about balancing volume levels which might be more helpful, but basically the PART/MIXER button is the way in. A short press allows you to change the part group (you will want the Keyboard Group), and then a long press on the same button gets you into the mixer section. In the meantime, this video will quickly show you how to access the MIXER parameters - ruclips.net/video/KbKkyQASOBA/видео.html

      Hi Stewart thank you very much I listened to the video you sent about panning very useful!! I have a sighted friend who is quite technical if you could send me detailed instructions how to load your file on to my keyboard I think this would be by far the best option so that I could get the level of layers by simply pressing one button I sometimes like to combine piano and organ so because there is 8 registration buttons would it be possible to have 4 with piano and strings and 4 piano and organ differing in layers!!! This would be wonderful!!!!! then I could simply select which over all sound I wanted. I think the keyboard has a transpose plus and minus on the far right of the keyboard and beside it is octave shift but I think this is just a single button and you press it repeatedly to get to the octave you wanted. In my opinion it would be much better if they had plus and minus for this function to. I think to get out of octave shift you press number 4 which i think is back or exit not sure it was a lot to take in when I looked at this in the shop thank you again for all your help. It is certainly not the most accessible of keyboard if you can not see the screen but I think I will be able to do the things I would like to on it thank you Stewart

    Thank you for the video, very clear instruction.
    I have 1 question about this keyboard. Do you experience bad keybed on ct-x3000? I noticed the key E4 had some mechanical noise of plastic after 2-3 days of unboxing.
    Not sure if I need to send them back to the store for a warranty claim :(

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад +1

      Yes it is a noisy keyboard but I've not noticed one key is worse than the others. It is possible to use a separate midi controller keyboard but that's not practical. For the cost of the keyboard I put up with it. If I'm using it at home it's fine as I use headphones. Elsewhere it's not too bad as there's usually other noise. The Yamaha PSR SX900 has a much better keyboard action but it's 5 times the price! Hope that helps. 🎶

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад

      @@mosestechtalk I haven't got either of those keyboards for comparison. The Yamaha PSR SX900 keyboard is very good, but not entirely silent either. My old M-Audio Keystation is a bit clicky, and a Nektar P6 has a more "da-dah" sound. Every keyboard action makes some kind of mechanical noise, unless it's a touch type like the Arturia Micro Freak or an iPad screen. In live situations, with the speakers on, I don't notice the Casio. I quite like the "box" style of the keys (on the Nektar too) so that dust doesn't settle underneath. Hope that helps.

    Can somebody help me with something I recorded a song on this particular keyboard then I saved it to a flash drive but when I go on the computer and play it back it doesn't sound anything like I recorded did somebody help me with this

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад

      That's because the keyboard records only MIDI and not audio. You'll need to record the audio directly into your PC or onto a separate device like a phone or an audio recorder - like in video number 16. At least with the MIDI data you might be able to find some similar sounds or even better ones!
      Some of the Casio pianos do allow audio recording, so it's annoying they didn't put it on these keyboards. Hope that helps answer both of your questions. If not, let me know.

      So basically I need a music program and a midi cable

    • @StewartWallaceSJWMusic
      @StewartWallaceSJWMusic  3 года назад

      @@quintinwright8487 To connect the keyboard to a PC you need a USB cable - like the ones used for printers - USB A on one end and USB B on the other. For software you can use almost any DAW (Ableton, Cubase, Reaper, Reason, Logic, Studio One, Bitwig, etc). Drivers probably won't be necessary, and you should find "Casio USB" somewhere in the preferences setup page of the software. Then you can use the Casio as an input device, controlling any VST plugins that the software may have. You might also be able to control the Casio from the software - i.e. sending MIDI to the keyboard to play the on board sounds. For recording the actual audio of the Casio you still need to capture it in some way or other - a jack cable from the OUTPUT/PHONES socket on the keyboard can be plugged into your PC, preferably via an audio interface (e.g. Focusrite Scarlett) - or you can record the audio onto your phone (via an app) or an audio recorder (e.g. Zoom HN1). I hope that's a little clearer.
