      You should have 27 stitches in every row if you follow this pattern. I usually count the stitches in the first few rows to make sure I have the same amount of stitches in every row. Hope this helps! :)

    This looks absolutely beautiful! I’ve never made a potholder before I am a complete beginner! But a friend and I are going to be making potholders to donate to our church’s Thanksgiving food drive bags this Thanksgiving so we’re starting now! How much yarn does it take to make a pair?

    • @MyCrochetSpace
      @MyCrochetSpace  3 месяца назад

      Thank you! :) I used one skein of yarn which is approx. 119yds for one potholder. You can find more info about materials and the written pattern in this post: mycrochetspace.com/extra-thick-thermal-potholder/
      If you are an absolute beginner, this pattern might be a bit challenging to start with, as it's an intermediate-level stitch :) But you've got plenty of time until Thanksgiving to practise, so completely doable! :)
      If you like the thermal stitch, you might find the single crochet a little easier, and it looks beautiful, too; you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/pVEwIKCuGV0/видео.html. Have fun and enjoy learning the thermal stitch!

      @@tammymccaslin4787 Oh good! Yes, the tension shouldn't be too tight. And I only turn my work vertical to work on the first 5 or 6 rows and to make the first couple of stitches as it's easier for me to see the stitches in the row below. But after that I hold it normally as the stitches become more visible from above. Hope this helps! :)

  • @katediangelis9143
    @katediangelis9143 3 года назад +3

    This video is very good but I don't understand why she stopped it right after doing the first stitch of the second row, especially when she commented later how tricky the first few stitches were. That makes no sense to me. She should have continued the video at least midway through the row for the first rows so that her viewers could see where to place the hook.

    Does doing it left handed matter?

    • @MyCrochetSpace
      @MyCrochetSpace  3 года назад +2

      Hi Beth, I'm not sure about how to do it left handed, but I think it should work. In the beginning, the first couple of rows may look like a rope as you are working on gaining the thickness. But as you continue, starting from row 4 or 5 you will start seeing the progress! Try to make at least 10 rows and it will look defferent. Also, it's easier if you use bulky cotton yarn and a bigger size hook (H-8/ 5mm) Let me know how you go! 😉

    • @MyCrochetSpace
      @MyCrochetSpace  3 года назад +1

      Hi Tiffany, I have used Fiddlesticks Finch cotton yarn. It's 119 yards in one skein and I've used around 3/4 of a skein to make this potholder. The potholder is around 7" square. If it's for a blanket, try to use a bigger size hook so the stitch is not going to be as dense and you may use less of the yarn! :)

      I’ve made a few blankets with a single crochet thermal stitch and have used 7 10oz rolls of yarn! This is 125 stitches wide and the length was for taller people! Basically turned out to be a lap blanket that’s extra long so you can be completely cuddled in it! Sit cross legged with it or whatever! Lol
      The stitch is awesome and thick! Not sure about a half double one though!
